Carlton Davis And Will Gholston Are Out For Sunday At Green Bay

December 16th, 2023

Injury report.

So yesterday Bucs coach Todd Bowles mentioned after practice that both cornerback Carlton Davis (groin) and defensive lineman Will Gholston (knee/ankle) won’t suit up for the important Bucs-Packers game Sunday in Green Bay.

Several others are game-time decisions. Bowles specifically cited defensive tackle Vita Vea (doubtful) with a bum toe and inside linebacker Devin White (questionable) with a sore foot.

Others on the final injury report are safety Ryan Neal doubtful; corner Jamel Dean (ankle/foot), receiver Chris Godwin (knee) and long snapper Zach Triner (elbow), each questionable.

When Bowles was asked if it was a good thing only two players were deemed unavailable for Sunday (at this time), Bowles quipped, “Right now. I could tell you better Sunday during the game, but right now, yes.”

If Triner cannot play, the every important emergency long-snapper will be Robert Hainsey, Bowles said.

As for Davis and Dean being backed up, Bowles lauded the recent play of reserve corner Zyon McCollum.

“You can never have enough [cornerbacks],” Bowles said. “The way he goes out and plays with confidence. He can play left or right side, or he can play inside – that gives us a lot of versatility that way, even when the other two are healthy.

“You usually get a guy that can play on the left or can play on the right or can play zone or play man –He can do everything we ask him. That’s a big luxury.”

I would rather have McCollum starting anyways

  2. Since76 Says:

Luxury is having a quality QB. Someday we will have luxury in Raymond James again. Maybe next year.

  3. Bubby Says:

Chargers GM blown out with a better record than licht.

  4. Mort Says:

Bubby, that’s an asinine statement. Licht owns a Super Bowl ring. Telesco doesn’t even have a division title.

  5. MadMax Says:

F the packers….the one team that cost me on my 4 team parlay last week (25 for 320) lol…all good tho.

I want to see us give it all we got at this game. We’re still in it so lets win through….you just never know.

(btw, my game parlay this week is bills, lions, cards, rams, ravens…throwing a 20 at it)

  6. MadMax Says:

…add falcons to it (-3…. what?) yeah, 20 on 6

  7. BucsFan Says:

Zion had his best game ever in a Buc uniform last week , and he could build on that.

  8. garro Says:

    Ouch!!!
Davis really hurts and we can use all the help we can get against the run. Gholston hurts in that regard.

    Go Bucs!

  9. Lt. Dan Says:

No sarcasm intended…but I think the Bucs are a better team without C. Davis, J. Dean and D. White. How much cap space could the Bucs save by cutting those three this off season?

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I can recall fans trashing Zion in his rookie year…….he is developing quite well and is a spectacular athlete and a good character….

Our D is banged up but our Offense is healthy…..they need to produce Sunday.

  11. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

Yes, no Davis and dean is ‘addition by subtraction’

  12. NE Fan Says:

Advantage Bucs with David out, the secondary is 30th in the league givung up an avg 264+ yds per game. NOT good!!!

  13. orlbucfan Says:

Well, at least half of the d###ed team ain’t on IR(usual Buc Luck). Both O and ST are in pretty good shape at this point in the season. Okay, Canales, we need a decent gameplan outta ya, or I’ll drop a brick on your head. Go Bucs! Good thing they’re not in Tampa. Weather is shaping up to be the pits!

  14. Fred Says:

Trade Dean if he has any value, bring Gruden back.

  15. Buccos Says:

Davis had an amazing game last week. It would have been nice to see him follow that up with another good one

  16. Pelsbuc61 Says:

The toast brothers, Davis and Dean are overpaid liabilities anyway. Vea is a part time player even when healthy and Gholston is way past his prime. Hopefully, next year with a competent HC and DC, Bucs can field a better defense.

  17. unbelievable Says:

Hainsey as the long snapper? Oh god.

He still can’t even hike the ball to our QB without nearly throwing it over his head at least once or twice a game. This is gonna be a disaster for our kicker.

  18. unbelievable Says:

Yeah Carlton had a very strong game last week.

Too bad he’s made of glass

  19. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Mort

Bud Licht has a Brady bowl ring.

Wouldn’t have that if TB12 hadn’t brought Gronk with him…

  20. Wayne perez Says:

Hubby your not too Brite light won a supper bowl that’s better than any won loss record

  21. James in Memphis Says:

With David’s inconsistent play I’m about to Devin White him too…

  22. James in Memphis Says:

    *Carlton Davis

  23. BucRodgersBDBDBD Says:

Davis is the Winston of defense. He can be the best and worst player on the field every play. U just never know. He should join his other half in New Orleans. He makes my head hurt. Go Bucs!

  24. Vancouver Buc Says:

‘Wreck some $hit’ is a wreck himself. He’s done.
