Bucs Postseason Chances Jump To 26 Percent

December 1st, 2023

“Check yo sheet, Glazer.”

Make your mid-January plans now!

Great news last night after the Seahawks were taken out by the Cowboys in a thrilling Thurday night game.

It was Seattle’s third straight loss and the Seahawks sit with a 6-6 record, tied with the Vikings (6-6) for the final two NFC playoff seeds.

But Seattle’s remaining schedule? They’ve got the 49ers, Eagles, Titans, Steelers and Cardinals. The Vikings still must face the Lions twice, and the Bengals, Packers and Raiders. So each team has a rough road to nine-win season.

That’s why, per the New York Times playoff probability calculations, the Bucs’ shot at the postseason jumped from 15 percent before last night’s game to 26 percent today.

While the Bucs are a miserable 4-7, they only have one team with a winning record remaining on their schedule, the Jaguars.

Super Bowl hope is alive!

CAR-ATL-GB-JAX-NO-CAR. As easy of a schedule as there is.

Funny things: Those teams are looking at the Bucs and saying the same thing. Easy win. That’s because our defense is terrible, and it’s offset by an even worse offense.

Had they fired Bowles, we would have gone to the playoffs.

  2. realistic-optimistic Says:

    Hurray!

  3. John Sinclear Says:

Once again I ask – If they fired Bowles, who replaces him? One of the assistant coaches gets the job. Which one do you prefer? It cannot be filled from the outside at this point in the season.

  4. WiscoJoe Says:

Bucs will split with CAR and finish with 5 total wins… book it.

People married to nostalgia can talk about tradition all they want – but its disgusting that that someone from this wretched division is going to host a playoff game. The Bucs, or whomever dont deserve the extra tv revenue – especially when Dallas or whomever comes here and puts up 48. Getting excited about winning this division is the equivalent of that girl at work you think is hot. It’s because shes the ONLY girl that isnt fat. Reminds me of the big 10, no sober brain thinks Iowa should be playing Michigan for the big 10 title. It should be a fing rematch between ohio state and michigan. Those are the 2 best teams by ten thousand miles. The best teams should make it. Winning the special olympics shouldnt mean you get to compete in the real olympics

  6. unbelievable Says:

    Bahahahaha

Get real folks this team stinks

  7. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

At this point, I was looking forward to a high first round draft pick.

  8. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Playoffs? Playoffs? Are you kidding me? Playoffs….We’re just trying to win A damn game!

  9. Licht House of Cards Says:

Just realized our area is shut out of the 49ers Eagles!!!! Why were the bucs moved to a late start????

  10. DeRobbins Says:

Mike Evans should have been traded. He deserves to be on a contender.

Making the playoffs with this crap o-line is meaningless.

  11. Darin Says:

Lol. You usually get what you deserve. This team deserves a make over not the Playoffs?!?!!?!

  12. DBS Says:

Even better chances Panthers score a first quarter TD. Bucs don’t on Sunday.

  13. Jack Clark Says:

Super Bowl? 😂 I’d be satisfied if we just make the playoffs

  14. WyomingJoe Says:

Even though the HATERS on this site don’t want to acknowledge it, if the Bucs win their remaining games- wait for it- they’re in the playoffs. And if they win 5 out the last 6 they’re probably in as well. I realize that the Trask Cult doesn’t want to hear this, but it is what it is. So, forget about the 2024 draft crap shoot and firing the entire coaching staff and concentrate on the rest of the year. I’m really sick of all the BS floating around here because that’s only for losers.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

    ^^^Types all this in a swashbuckler’s outfit.

  16. Dave Pear Says:

If the Glazers fired Todd today, maybe the Bucs would have a one out of four chance to win 9 games.

But they haven’t. Four wins. That’s what Todd would have had last year were it not for Tom Brady.

  17. Boss Says:

this team has a chance to make the SUPERBOWL this year!!!!!

    maybe one in a million

    BUT THERES A CHANCE!

  18. Dwayne Cone Says:

26% Wow that’s 9.33% higher than the Bucs TD Success Rate in the Red Zone when playing at Home.

Don’t overlook the Packers. Good day against KC and Green Bay may just finish at 10-7.

Right now Bucs are in the 11th spot and that is 100%. One loss better than the Giants who don’t have to play this week.

  19. Allbuccedup Says:

    Playoffs Bwahwahwahwah

  20. Jeff’s grandpa Says:

Playoffs? Haha what’s the point to get embarrassed in rayjay again

  21. Rod Munch Says:

If you read Panther’s blogs, they’re talking about how the Panthers are the better team and should win this game vs the Bucs, that the Bucs are the easiest team on their schedule for the year.

That’s how low Bowles and Baker have brought this team.

In the preseason of last year, this team was literally the odds on favorite to go to the Super Bowl for the NFC — and 15 months later, the worst team in football thinks the Bucs are their easiest opponent and a game they should win.

  22. David Says:

Bucs will not make the playoffs unless they win their division. They will get blown out even if they make it. So there is no reason to get excited. I think Joe just having fun with this bad Bucs team with a losing coach and qb. This experiment was over when we lost to Falcons at home. That was Falcon first road win and became the division leader in the past 8 years at the time.

  23. Tony Says:

I said they weren’t winning more than 7 from the beginning. I thought I missed something at first when they were starting the way they were starting the year but no of course they went right back to being the Bucs. I guess they just like losing.🙄

  24. Hodad Says:

I’ll have my eye on all the QB’s playing in college this week. I hope the Glazers are watching too. Some top talent going head, to head Bo Nix, and Penix. Either one could be a Buc. Sorry, I’m already looking to next year. This season is total garbage. Oh I’ll be watching, if they put them on TV, I’m a fan, and want to watch the train wreck into the station. That’s what’s going to happen, isn’t it? Todd’s not running the table into the playoffs. Playoffs? Good college games on this weekend.

  25. Fansince76 Says:

    We need a Christmas miracle!!

  26. mark2001 Says:

I predict the Bucs will make the playoffs, get smoked by 21 in the game, pick at number 21, and choose a TE in the first round. The draft will go down from there. And a decade of futility will be on the horizon. It is a Bucs life.

  27. Voice of Truth Says:

1 in four chance, very similar to Todd’s coaching record – 1 win average per 4 games coached….

  28. Voice of Truth Says:

I read a similar blog that others referred too – they expect to beat us rather easily

Their D is better than ours – that’s what they said and I tend to agree…

  29. adam from ny Says:

coach is like a 6-10- type of coach…it’s just who he is…

so with the easy final 6 games, we probably split the games, and wind up like 7-10…

i’m not sure you can expect more after losing 6 of 7

  30. BucU Says:

Some of you folks are honestly delusional, including some of the JBF writers. Do u not watch this clown show every wknd? We suck. And we’ll continue to suck. We have Todd Bowles as HC. Nuff said.

  31. FortMyersDave Says:

Adam is right. Bucs will not go out like Rah, that would give the 2024 staff too nice of a top 5 draft pick. 7 wins also makes sense and would make Vegas happy as many bet the under on the 6.5 win total. I guess the Bucs win a sloppy 16-10 game on Sunday, lose in the ATL and Green Bay. Beat the Saints (because Coach Allen is the one HC more inept than Bowels and Bowles has his number, the one thing he can do well, beat the Aints), lose to the Jags and then at 6-10, beat Carolina to tumble out of the top 10 in draft order and gives Bowles a win going out the door. Division winner? ATL at 8-9 so that 16-13 loss at home to them will cost the Bucs the division. Thst is okay, Dallas will beat the ATL by 28 in the playoffs and the birds will get a late draft pick for saving Arthur Smith’s job. BTW Saints Allen gets launched same time as Bowels.

  32. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

If Bowles beats the Panthers…he SHOULD be fired. Let them win! If they continue to lose, the Panthers get earlier picks throughout the next draft.

They are a division rival! We want to hurt them as much as possible…and that means letting them win this time.

Added benefit? The Bears used to share a division with us…we can hurt them by losing against the Panthers as well!

If we lose, we pick earlier.

That’s three benefits to losing against the Panthers. Now let’s count the ways beating them would hurt us:

Beating them gets us a tiny step closer to the playoffs…good or bad? If we get in, does ANYONE with half a brain think we can win at all in the playoffs???

    So…what is the point?

We would be one and done…Bowles may not get fired as a result. He’s want to give Mayfield a contract…which means cap issues going forward.

We’ll pick later in the draft.

Sorry, but that’s five reasons to let the Panthers win.

Fansince 76 says: “We need a Christmas miracle!!”

I’ll take a Festivus miracle at this point.

This Sunday vs Carolina…what could go wrong? Let’s see…

They have an interim HC. The last few interim HCs that come to mind won their first few games and their teams seemed revitalized (at least at first). It happened last year with Carolina and the Colts and this year with LV.

They have a rookie QB who looks like he should still be playing in H.S. We haven’t done well against rookies even when they are turnover machines like in that Atlanta game earlier this season.

Oh yeah, their defense is pretty good too while ours is a M.A.S.H. unit.

What could go wrong? 26% chance of making the playoffs? 25% chance of winning this week imo and I’m an optimist!

We need a Festivus for the rest of us.

I thought if Bucs win the division they would be the #4 seed?

  35. Jerry Says:

People want to lose on purpose to get higher draft picks. But you can’t do that in pro sports. It’s actually against the law. It’s considered criminal conspiracy. Why? Because of gambling.

Remember the allegations that Stephen Ross, the Dolphins owner, told his coaching staff to tank the games so they can get a higher draft pick. That’s against the rules.
