Three Defensive Starters Did Not Practice

November 23rd, 2023

Injury report.

No media availability today other than to watch 30 minutes of dudes warming up. So no one was available to speak today as the Bucs raced home to inhale Thanksgiving grub. Three Bucs starting defenders got sort of a head start.

Bucs stud linebacker Lavonte David, cornerback Jamel Dean and linebacker Devin White all did not practice. David is dealing with a groin injury suffered Sunday. Dean has an ankle/foot injury suffered in the loss to San Francisco and White has a bum foot. Joe is not sure when that injury occurred.

Cornerback Carlton Davis also absorbed a hip injury Sunday and left tackle Tristan Wirfs, who injured his ankle as well, did practice. Davis was limited but Wirfs fully participated.

Receiver Chris Godwin has a banged-up knee and elbow and was limited today. Center Robert Hainsey is dealing with a sore knee and he was limited.

Lastly, safety Ryan Neal, who has been dealing with a bum thumb, fully participated in practice.

Wonder what Justin Fields would look like in a Bucs uniform in 2024. Could be had via trade after this season.

  2. orlbucfan Says:

White is a waste of time. He’s also a big reason why LVD (HOF) is banged up. If Licht has to cut corners salary cap wise, don”t resign him. Give the extra coin to LVD. Canales better get with it. Period!

  3. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Devin will end up on another team and be good again.
LVD is banged up, because he plays football for a living.

  4. StormyInFl Says:

Worst news hear is that Neal is healthy.

Bucs should write a book: “From Super Bowl to Toilet Bowl in 2 years”

    Ha!

  7. confido75 Says:

Dean is a waste of cap space. Always banged up and average at best on the field.

  8. Buc4evr Says:

There are like maybe 4 or 5 guys on defense that are worth anything and it’s not White, Dean, Neal, Davis, JTS or Hall. Sometimes I think the only guys playing on defense are LVD, Vea, Winfield, Gholston, and maybe Nelson. Hopefully Kancey and YaYa can pan out….

  9. Rod Munch Says:

    Fun fact:

Bucs defense is the 4th best in the NFC in points allowed.
Bucs offense is the 4th worst in the NFC in points scored.

  10. Jack Clark Says:

We love you Joe and will make any outsider a victim 😂

  11. BucsFan81 Says:

Fun Fact: Bowles has a record of 37-54 as head coach a winning percentage of less than .400 Fire Him and Davis, Dean and white get rid of the trash on this team please.

  12. Jack Clark Says:

None of you have ever disproven my statements either BTW 😂

  13. IrishTony Says:

My Christmas wish is to fire that wank Licht (never liked despite the 2020 coup) and bring Lynch back home. I know it’s a pipe dream but if Lynch can build a winning D why can’t we consider someone like Derrick Brooks or Ronde as GM.

  14. Jack Clark Says:

Send “NE Fan” to me too 🤭

  15. IrishTony Says:

The only sustainability this team has ever had was under Rich McKay. He built a Defense for a solid 10 year run. Why can’t that be duplicated?

  16. Jack Clark Says:

    Tee hee 🤭

  17. David Says:

The Colts waived Shaquille Leonard. The Bucs need linebacker depth, and they play the Colts Sunday.
They should have worked him out Wednesday and signed him by now. If his back gets fully healed this year, he could be an all pro again.

  18. Obvious Says:

    @IrishTony

I got to say, if we were to replace Jason Licht…

Rhonda Barber is an EXCELLENT choice. I know it’s been said before lightly but it’s got a nice ring to it. Love Rhonde’s demeanor and he’s a smooth operator.

In the meantime, Jason Licht is the best we finally ever had. Like him or not he’s ended up doing a bang up job. Definitely took him a minute to get going But when he did grow a pair, he REALLY Grew a Pair!

Plus his drafting has been actually Really Good. WAY TOO MANY starters coming out of every draft now and are either still Key Cogs for us or have moved on to other teams to become Key members other teams. He’s not hitting on just one or two. No he’s slapping it out of the park these days on an average bases with 3, 4 and 5 per draft

  19. Duane in Sanford Says:

Never going to agree with the Licht haters. This is the part of the season where Dean and Davis alternate in games missed. Coincidentally, its also the time of season where Bowles defense runs out of gas and gives up the booty. He will start making excuses about the defense playing too many snaps. I still think Bowles got third prize and just doesnt know it yet, but if he really wanted to stay, he needs to get his guys on defense playing better and not regressing. Dean, Davis, White, JTS- those are all his guys regressing out there. It would be fair to argue that he would already be gone if LVD and Winfield havent given their stellar efforts. Change IS coming.

  20. Vern Newsome Says:

Davin White foot issue been going on since the first or second game of the year. No matter what the coaches been saying. Looking back now, they should have rested him or surgery. His foot want get any better until then. He’s not taking about it and the coaching staff either. Ask the question why hasn’t we seen a lot of explosive’s plays from him this year .

  21. NE Fan Says:

How is it year after year this secondary is made out of glass. It will be interesting to see how the D plays without White, it maybe more discipline football. Beerwhisperer is right, if White goes to another team and is coached correctly he could be crazy good. Look at Whitehead. Put White on a Mike McDaniels or Shanahan team and watch him play. Leonard used to be a stud LB not sure why Indy cut him. Jack, you keep calling me out but I have to agree with others, your input is pretty lame, starting to sound like oneilsuckyall. I used to enjoy the banter but lately you’ve been a little weak. Maybe go to Barnes & Noble and read Football for Dummies to catch up.
