Teams Making Changes To Change Results

November 2nd, 2023

Time to shake things up?

So yesterday was a big news day in the NFL and Joe wonders if there may be any ripple effects in the waters of Tampa Bay.

The biggest news was that Raiders owner Mark Davis, who apparently can’t find a decent barber in southern Nevada, sh!tcanned Josh McDaniels.

Davis didn’t stop there. He also ran general manager Dave Ziegler. Both Ziegler and McDaniels come from the House of Belicheat.

(When will teams learn to stay away from Belicheat disciples for coaches? Nearly all have failed, often miserably so. A couple — Bill O’Brien and Mike Vrabel — have had some modest success. Maybe this will be the end of owners wasting time and millions on these guys.)

And Davis also went a step further when he shut off the access card of Raiders offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi.

Lastly, Davis announced that Raiders starting quarterback Jimmy GQ is benched for Aidan O’Connell.

The Raiders are 3-5.

Across the country in NFC South territory, Dixie Chicks coach Artie Smith announced he has benched quarterback Desmond Ridder.

You may remember Ridder. He’s the guy the Bucs forced into three red zone fumbles, yet the Bucs still lost.

The Dixie Chicks are 4-4.

Why is Joe bringing this up? Well, Joe finds it interesting that a couple of teams that have as many wins as the Bucs, or more, are not satisfied with their offensive results and output and decided to make changes.

The Bucs are 3-4.

Let Joe be perfectly clear: Joe is not calling for the Bucs to bench quarterback Baker Mayfield. He’s your starter. And no, Joe doesn’t think Bowles will bench Mayfield at all this year if the pirate ship continues to flounder.

But what changes are the Bucs making with one of the worst scoring offenses in the NFL, and the second-worst rushing attack (the aforementioned Raiders are the only team with a worse rushing attack)?

To the best of Joe’s knowledge, the Bucs are not making any changes. They obviously made no moves at the trade deadline. It sure appears the Bucs are at least partially OK with the current results.

If you are not OK with something, then you make changes, no?

Joe asked Bucs coach Todd Bowles yesterday if one reason the team made no moves at the trade deadline was the team felt it already had the horses to make a run in January.

Bowles told Joe that was a better question for Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht. So yeah, in a sense, Bowles punted.

So, are the Bucs content with their stagnant offense? Joe sees no evidence the Bucs are annoyed enough to do anything to change it.

Bowles has grumbled about Trey Palmer’s lack of blocking and penalties. So why not move Rachaad White to receiver? You know, something to mix things up and maybe create a spark.

Look, White stinks as a runner, that’s all there is to it. As a receiver, White is putting up some crazy good numbers in advanced stats. Joe really believes White is a misplaced slot receiver. And White has an underrated nose for contact in the blocking game.

The only vibe Joe gets at One Buc Palace is Bowles wants more takeaways from his secondary, despite the Bucs defense leading the league in turnover ratio.

Changes to the offense? Joe’s not hearing of anything happening there, despite the Bucs scoring just 17.3 points a game, fifth-worst in the NFL. The Bucs also are looking for their second touchdown of the season in the first quarter with seven games played. #Sad.

So the only conclusion is, with no moves at the trade deadline and apparently no shakeup to the offense, it appears the Bucs are content with a pitiful scoring offense.

(If folks think this here post is unfair, well, please point out what the Bucs are doing to get the offense in gear other than the same ol’ same ol?’)

  1. Beej Says:

It’s a 2-3 year plan, and they aren’t messing with it (at least by trading picks or valuable people). They could put on Delaney for Neal, leave Stinnie in for Feiler, couple more losses put in Trask

  2. SufferingSince76 Says:

Bucs being Bucs. It adds credence to Todd Bowles knowing he isn’t going anywhere. If he was truly afraid for his job, he would be all in on getting outside help.

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

“Nothing is sure but change”…..except if you’re the Bucs.

  4. realistic-optimistic Says:

So the Raiders have a worse running game than the Bucs. By Joe’s logic, that means Josh Jacobs is trash. The same Josh Jacobs that won the rushing title last season. Clearly he’s the problem if the team’s rushing numbers are so bad…

  5. power sweep Says:

“Let Joe be perfectly clear: No, Joe is not calling for the Bucs to bench quarterback Baker Mayfield.”

You can’t. You have too much invested in trashing Trask and hyping Mayfield. You can afford to be wrong about one (Mayfield), but not wrong about both (Mayfield AND Trask).

  6. DBS Says:

If they lose and are not putting points on the board he has to go to Trask. His seat has to be on losing all these games. If Trask does not work he can bench him.

  7. DBS Says:

    fire

  8. George R Says:

Joe, the Bucs made the wrong hire. They should of hired Todd Monken. He is doing well in Baltimore.

  9. ScottyMack Says:

First off, the Raiders are 3-3 in games that Jimmy G started. They are 0-2 in the ones both of the other QBs started, so I’m not too sure the QB switch is the answer.

Second, Josh Jacobs was the leading rusher in the NFL last year – hardly the same scenario as the Bucs.

  10. WillieG Says:

It seems the front office wants a new head coach next year.

  11. D-Rome Says:

When will teams learn to stay away from Belicheat disciples for coaches? All of them have failed, often miserably so.

I think it’s safe to say, “It was Brady.” I think because it was Brady that it diminishes Belichick’s legacy. It’ll be a mistake if Washington or (god forbid) the Bucs try to sign him next year.

  12. Dlavid Says:

There is no way Bowles remains as head coach after this season! He is not a winner, and nothing is going to resurrect this season! We should have been cellars this week and picked up some draft picks! I don’t believe any additions would have a helped this team enough to make a positive impact , or make us a playoff contender worth betting on . The way this team has performed under Bowles is uninspiring ! He just is not head coach material !

  13. D-Rome Says:

You can’t. You have too much invested in trashing Trask and hyping Mayfield. You can afford to be wrong about one (Mayfield), but not wrong about both (Mayfield AND Trask).

He got you, Joe. Columbo has figured you out. You’re pushing Mayfield because your livelihood depends on it. Give this man the Presidental Medal of Freedom.

  14. Bucs since 76 Says:

If they lose to Houston and don’t make some changes then, Bowles should be fired along with Licht. However, I feel the Glazers will step in and call for changes as the no shows will increase and if people aren’t going to go to the games. Then why would they buy season tickets next year?

  15. Popcorn Mike Says:

Licht did say the other day that he’s satisfied with the player he have. So if he thinks he has good players and the team is losing and not just losing but looking bad doing it, then what is Licht saying. Looks like he’s putting Bowles on notice and after what happened with the Raiders. Hummm

  16. WiscoJoe Says:

Is this there indirect way of tanking? There’s no way they’re looking at the offensive side of the ball and thinking they have the horses right now to win.

  17. WiscoJoe Says:

    Their*

  18. BucsFan81 Says:

They won’t fire anyone until after the season. The real test is going to be if they lose to the panthers which still may only have 1 win by time we play them. I am not sure this team can even win another game under Bowles. He should have been fired last year and the rebuild should have already started. We will be talking draft by Thanksgiving and New Head Coach. Hopefully they replace Bowles with an offensive coach.

  19. Since76 Says:

The bucs could be on a totally different track than trying to get better results without changing a thing on offense. The Bucks are tanking. They are leaving Mayfield in to continue to lose games. Can’t be another explanation for this non move. It must have been given the green light by the Glazers.

  20. Boss Says:

nly one thing can change this teams mindset.

    show lovie the door today.

  21. realistic-optimistic Says:

Given that the goal this year was to clear cap space, I’m getting increasingly nervous that Bowles doesn’t get fired at all. I wouldn’t put it past the Glazer braintrust to keep this fool in the HC seat for another wasted season next year. Who’s not excited about Bowles stunting the growth of another rookie QB??

  22. power sweep Says:

D-Rome Says: “He got you, Joe. Columbo has figured you out. You’re pushing Mayfield because your livelihood depends on it. Give this man the Presidental [sic] Medal of Freedom.”

The clear import of my comment was Joe’s credibility, not his “livelihood”. Try harder, Skippy.

  23. Texasbucsfan Says:

We might as well get used to the idea that Bowles & Canoles are staying in Tampa until the end of the year. Not sure if Licht will be gone at the end of this year along with the coaching staff. Another losing year for the Bucs. Why draft a quarterback with a number 2 pick and let him sit on the bench. It doesn’t make sense! Go Bucs.

  24. Pewter Power Says:

Need somebody with a pulse running the team.

How about if Trey Palmer is that need blocking stop making him do it the whole game. Rookies make mistakes and have to learn. It’s your fault you draft a 5th round receiver. The rest of the new ones are underrated free agents.

No excuses because Rachaad weight can’t run very effectively so guess what they passed the ball to him out in space.

  25. TDavis Says:

Definitely think this post is fair. However, I think they will very quickly NOT be ok with the results of this team. I don’t think people at One Buc Palace realize how close this team is to spiraling. When you have this pathetic of an offense, a defense that’s decent but not great, and a HC who doesn’t really give you any in-game advantages, you can get to 5-12 pretty quick.

  26. TampaBayBucsFanSince1976 Says:

Bowles told Joe that was a better question for Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht. So yeah, in a sense, Bowles punted.

My read on the above is he!! yes I wanted to make changes and Licht decided HIS guys that he signed and drafted were great.

  27. Pewter Power Says:

I don’t understand the fascination with being mediocre. Bowles fired the OC looking for more scoring then hired zero experience OC. Of course Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and the other stars and get theirs.

Are we really going into another offseason not knowing what we have like we did with Trask but then have him competing for starter

  28. ModHairKen Says:

The Glazers have never made a mid-season change.

Harbaugh has had it with College.

Does Jim like the beach and 362 days of warm weather a year?

  29. Defense Rules Says:

Joe … ‘Bowles has grumbled about Trey Palmer’s lack of blocking and penalties. So why not move Rachaad White to receiver? You know, something to mix things up and maybe create a spark.’

Our WR corps has been our strength for several years, but now, it’s just average at best. Oh Evans & Godwin are putting up decent numbers, but the other 3 (Palmer, Jarrett & Thompkins) have been big disappointments. The 3 of them are only averaging a 57% catch percentage & have only contributed 208 TOTAL yards to the passing game. It’s sad when Mike Evans has more TDs (5) than the rest of our WRs TOGETHER (4).

And our TEs aren’t any help; they have ONE TD among the 4 of them this season and have only contributed 172 TOTAL yards to our passing game . Of course, it’s also sad when our entire team has only ONE rushing TD after 7 games, but we won’t go there.

I second your motion Joe to at least try Rachaad White out as a slot receiver. He’s caught 29-of-30 passes thrown to him (96.7%) for 233 receiving yards. Use him for what he’s good at, and plug in either Josh Jacobs or Dalvin Cook at RB. Oh wait, just got told that we missed the trading deadline yesterday. Never mind; bad suggestion.

  30. Aubpierce Says:

Bowles could use a little Bobby Knight. I’am tired of Bowles lack of emotion.

  31. NE Fan Says:

realistuc@ poses the question, did Jacob’s just lose all his ability to run in one season? Many think that’s what happened to Brady last season, he hit the wall. In reality what we are seeing are bad coaches not utilizing their elite players strengths but forcing a square peg into a round hole. Evan’s seemed very uncomfortable with the O last season as well. Maybe it was all the down field run blocking routes BL put him in or was it really BL? Wink, Wink!!! Two perfect examples of how coaching can loose games. Bowles is a stubborn SOB!

  32. D Cone Says:

Heineke came in and by the 4th was settled in and Falcons put up 14 in one quarter where as the Falcons scored 16 the last two games prior. Ridder can move the ball but just had a hard time getting it in the end zone. He is 6-6 career and making 1st year mistakes. Falcons lead the South and without the mistakes would be another game up. Ridder went down and Heineke performed better and it’s not a hard decision to stay with him for a Smart Coach like Smith.

Should Baker go down in the 3rd quarter and Trask come in and put up 21 points it would put the Bucs in the same position. For some reason I don’t think Bowles would make the same choice.

  33. Joseph C Simmons Says:

“Joe really believes White is a misplaced slot receiver.”

    ***

That’s a pretty big reach. You’ve never once watched him run any route other than a dump off, a flat, or a wheel route, yet you assume he can run the entire route tree?

My gut says he’s not the next Wes Welker. He’s a perfect third down back, through and through. My name is Joe, maybe I should be writing here.

  34. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

Rachaad White is an average runner. Our interior offensive line is likely the WORST in the league at run blocking. It looked better with Stinnie, but Hainsey and Mauch get ZERO push. They also typically let pressure up the middle, which makes it harder on Baker to feel comfortable in the pocket. This is what happens when you let a rookie tackle from a small school start at guard. We need to continue to build the trenches.

  35. Joe Says:

The clear import of my comment was Joe’s credibility, not his “livelihood”. Try harder, Skippy.

By “credibility” do you mean Joe should start lying to you and the rest of his readers and pound the drum for something Joe doesn’t believe will or should happen after watching 60+ practices just because it will make a vocal/angry cult happy?

    That’s not “credibility,” that’s “pandering.”

What else do you want Joe to lie about?

  36. realistic-optimistic Says:

    ^^^ This!

And I think White is a competent RB1 (not great, not terrible). Not being able to run through 6 defenders like Earl Campbell does not mean you’re a bad RB.

  37. Alanbucsfan Says:

A couple of key blocks here and there, a quicker Mayfield read here and there, stop committing drive killing penalties- there’s a different narrative
Bucs aren’t making huge changes because they believe losses have largely been self inflicted- we shall see

  38. HC Grover Says:

Bowles is a good DC but a terrible HC. There lies the main problem.

  39. Couch Fan Says:

Am I the only thinking Bowles is acting like a guy whos been promised several years to turn this thing around. Man, I hope that isnt the case.

  40. Mike S Says:

“Let Joe be perfectly clear: Joe is not calling for the Bucs to bench quarterback Baker Mayfield. He’s your starter. And no, Joe doesn’t think Bowles will bench Mayfield at all this year if the pirate ship continues to flounder.”

100% deal breaking malfeasance. Shame on you.

  41. McBucky Says:

Things changed for this organization when Arians came in. This may be an indication that Arians was the visionary who knew how to solve problems and generate success while the executive staff (that was there before him and is there now – including coaches) does not.

Maybe fire Licht and hire Arians as GM?

  42. 941bucsfan Says:

    Dear Trask Fans..

    Ridder leads league in turnovers
Garropolo leads the league in Ints

Baker doesnt turn the ball over, he is good til week 18. Carry on

  43. Mike S Says:

D-Rome credibility is capital in this business. If Trask blows up after everyone dumped on JBF dumped on him consistently for years it won’t be a good thing that’s for sure.

  44. Mike S Says:

941bucsfan “Hey we’re 5-12 but we won all the turnover battles” got Schiano fired in 2013. It will get Bowles fired too.

  45. Tucker Says:

This team is cleaning up the cap and starting to rebuild what did you expect.

  46. Couch Fan Says:

Still not sure why this is a Trask vs Baker thing when its clear the HC is absolutely terrible. Nobody will win with Bowles in charge.

  47. Lakeland Steve Says:

Would loved to have been a fly on the wall during conversations Licht had with the Glazers closing in on the trade deadline. Sounds to me when Bowles said ask Licht about why no trades, maybe Bowles wanted a trade or some movement and Licht said no. Just a guess, but it sounds plausible. If any of that is true then the writing is on the wall and Bowles knows it. If we don’t make the playoffs he and this staff is gone.

  48. Fred McNeil Says:

I don’t see Joe (either one of them) pushing Mayfield over Trask at all. Their words as written seem to point to their opinion of what Bowles will do. Kinda like Joe Friday’s “just the facts, Ma’am.”. (That show is so old I don’t even remember the name of it anymore…Oh yeah! Dragnet.)
As far as moving White to the slot: Sounds like a plan to me. He’s a really good receiver and Palmer has been kind of a let-down after such a promising preseason.
Also, I’m kinda hip to giving Trask a look. I doubt that happens unless Mayfield just collapses. However…a couple more 16 point games might cast a pall on his relationship with Baker.

  49. Tye Says:

As long as the Bucs choose to stay under the curse of Bowels, no change will produce a Winning Season…
A curse so strong it tarnished the last year of Tom Brady career!

  50. bucsfaninOregon Says:

The other team I follow is my “home town” 49rs. Note how they spent a draft pick on Chase from Wash. That’s a team trying to win.

  51. Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan Says:

So this is the plan…? Ride out a 5 or 6 win season and bring both Bowles and Baker back?

LOL they really hate the fans.

Oh and Joe what we’re seeing in the preseason doesn’t match up to your description of 60+ practices. Trask played pretty well.

  52. TB bolts Says:

A post talking about teams making changes and how terrible the offense has been and yet Joe is sure to exonerate midfield right in the middle of it… even saying if the ship continues to sink he won’t be benched. The love affair with fourth team baker is heart warming.

  53. power sweep Says:

Joe Says: “By ‘credibility’ do you mean Joe should start lying to you and the rest of his readers and pound the drum for something Joe doesn’t believe will or should happen after watching 60+ practices just because it will make a vocal/angry cult happy?”

No. I mean that after trashing Trask and hyping Mayfield – a Bucs bust – your quarterback-whispering can’t afford another hit by having Trask succeed, which is quite possible, as you yourself stated in an article dated August 13th, 2023 that “TRASK OUTPLAYED MAYFIELD BY A LITTLE IN TRAINING CAMP.”

  54. optimisticbucsfan Says:

    Who cares about players feelings?

Make some changes. Bench players. Get mad Todd.

    Listless…Coach Ambien…Zzzzzzzzzz

I’ve seen more emotion from a statue.

    FLUSH IT ALL!!!!

  55. Couch Fan Says:

I cant speak for the Joes but they might not be saying what he’s saying because of a “love affair”. I to happen to think Baker wont be benched and it has nothing to do with Baker, its because of the Bozo HC who is to stubborn to admit he’s wrong and to stubborn to make any changes to see if something different can/will happen. Been saying it for a while now.

  56. Joe Says:

Oh and Joe what we’re seeing in the preseason doesn’t match up to your description of 60+ practices. Trask played pretty well.

Yeah, and he couldn’t beat out Mayfield, so what’s that tell you?

  57. power sweep Says:

Couch Fan Says: “I to happen to think Baker won’t be benched and it has nothing to do with Baker, it’s because of the Bozo HC who is to stubborn to admit he’s wrong.”

Bingo! There’s a lot of that going around.

  58. Greg Says:

Joe, I don’t think people think Trask is necessarily going to make us a Super bowl team. The point is while Mayfield may not be the big problem, he’s just not the answer. Todd Bowels sealed his fate when he went with a mediocre QB whos had 8 coached in 6 years on his 4th team instead of developing a QB Light drafted.

If Bowles does not want to give a talented QB a chance why would the Bucs want Bowels around to draft one in next years draft. Thinking of the future, if Trask isn’t the guy at least he gets games under his belt.

Bowels is done in Tampa. As Joe has said new coaches want their QB. We will have more cap space next year and a young QB. Mayfield wont be here anyways. Why are we waisting time?

  59. power sweep Says:

Joe Says: “Yeah, and he couldn’t beat out Mayfield, so what’s that tell you?”

It tells me Mayfield was promised the starting job. He certainly didn’t earn it because as you stated in an article dated August 13th, 2023, “TRASK OUTPLAYED MAYFIELD BY A LITTLE IN TRAINING CAMP.”

  60. power sweep Says:

Joe Says: “Yeah, and he couldn’t beat out Mayfield, so what’s that tell you?”

It reminds me that Brett Favre, Tom Brady, Brock Purdy, and Will Levis also couldn’t beat out the starting quarterback.

  61. Joe Says:

It tells me Mayfield was promised the starting job. He certainly didn’t earn it because as you stated in an article

If Trask was all that, why even sign Mayfield? The very same guy who drafted Trask signed Mayfield.

  62. power sweep Says:

Joe Says: “If Trask was all that, why even sign Mayfield?”

Mayfield was signed months before Trask – in your words – “OUTPLAYED MAYFIELD BY A LITTLE IN TRAINING CAMP”.

If they lose and are not putting points on the board he has to go to Trask. His seat has to be on losing all these games. If Trask does not work he can bench him.

    ———

Nothing in all of sports makes a coach look more incompetent and panicky than losing a few games , still being within striking distance of a playoff spot, going to a guy thats thrown nine passes for 33% completion in three years and then having to go back to the veteran whose ranked top 15.

Even if there was no thought of firing such a coach the idea would immediately pop to mind. This is the reality Bowles faces and outside of the Kyle cult ( thanks Joe . I like it better than Traskie) No one is naming Trask a top ten QB being kept on the pine due to a conspiracy against him.

The evaluation argument has merit but nowhere near what people claim. Trask is under contract. He improved by all accounts during training camp (vastly some say which is a nod to how bad he was before) . You have to evaluate him again after the next one. Theres no 911 to re-evaluate Trask this season.

Finally – we are not getting a top three pick. Trading up? Even if a team with such a slot doesn’t need a QB the hype of this draft is so hot other teams are going to beat the bucs in offers. Further down the list of Qbs may require development AND a bridge veteran QB. Go to trask and he fizzles – you will certainly lose a top 15 bridge QB and sucking worse in 2024 than the panthers do now is not off the table.

  66. Couch Fan Says:

How many times did Trask get a chance to start with the 1s? or does that not count since it messes up your whole comparison?

  67. EEK Says:

    it’s painful

  68. Bucs'n'Bucks Says:

What is wrong with you people?? White has caught 29 of 30. Intelligent people call that successful. But you want to switch him to a different position. Typical.

  69. D Cone Says:

Seems like Society has become composed of one’s that open presents on Christmas Eve. Have food carried by a complete stranger rather than wait for a couple cars in the drive thru.
Tampa’s roster is made up with about 13 Rookies. 25%. Zero NFL experience going into camp. Offense and Defense.
Mayfield was selected as QB because of experience. Falcons are going up against
one of the best in the business running Defense and want the guy in with experience. Guy that challenged a Great Bucs defense in 2020.
Teams can win with Rookies as long as the team is still in it and have gotten better by Christmas. Try being patient until at least Thanksgiving before hanging Stockings or the Coaching Staff.
If Bucs are out of it by then those now now fans will have Coal to open Christmas Eve.

  70. Joe Says:

What is wrong with you people?? White has caught 29 of 30. Intelligent people call that successful. But you want to switch him to a different position.

Why not use that talent and those results (including good blocking) at a position that needs all those attributes. Those same talents are being wasted at the current position he plays in which he can’t run for shiite.

But yeah, the offense is humming so well, why make changes and screw up a good thing?

  71. power sweep Says:

    @DBS

You gotta be something special stupid to compare a quarterback who has never taken a snap with the starting offense to a quarterback who has. Who a quarterback plays with affects that quarterback’s performance. You Bakettes tacitly concede this when after each failure of a game by Bakey you blame the offensive line, the running backs, the receivers, Canales, Bowles, and the cheelrleaders, but never ever Bakey! Not Bakey! LMAO!

  72. jimmy Says:

Kyle Trask was such a dominant quarterback in college that an Alex Grinch defense shut him down in the Sugar Bowl.

  73. D-Rok Says:

When Joe says, “So why not move Rachaad White to receiver?”

And DR says, “I second your motion Joe to at least try Rachaad White out as a slot receiver.”

The problem I see with moving White to slot or any WR position is the match-ups. As a RB, when he goes into (very simple) routes as RB out of the backfield, he is probably matched up with slower LB’s/DE’s. White is good in space especially on swing passes. Advantage, White.

But if you put him at slot, the coverage on him will be different, probably matched up with corners or safeties. Has White proven himself to be a good route-runner? Can he create separation? Not sure, haven’t seen it yet, but I doubt it. Advantage, DB’s.

    Something to ponder.

  74. DBS Says:

Tony. 1 I don’t care either way. But if he losing games at some point he will have to evaluate Trask. That is my opinion like it or not. Unless they want to continue for a new coaching staff and high draft pick next year. He needs game experience to see what he can do. If we are out of the playoffs it doesn’t matter.

  75. D-Rok Says:

PS: And if you take White out of the backfield, then exactly who is left to run the ball? They ARE a running team, after all…

  76. Richard Dickson Says:

The Raiders are 3-5 in a divison the Chiefs are apparently going to run away with, and there’s a lot of behind the scenes talk that the players had pretty much given up on McDaniels.

The Bucs are 3-4 in a division where the leaders are 4-4, one of whom we own the tie-breaker with, and there’s no indication this team has given up on its coaches. You’re going to see adjustments, not sweeping changes.

  77. Couch Fan Says:

Kyle Trask was such a dominant quarterback in college that an Alex Grinch defense shut him down in the Sugar Bowl.

You keep spouting that nonsense. I have never seen any of the Joes claim Trask won the QB competition.

You keep making a fool of yourself, but please stick around and keep doing so, it’s fun!

  80. Bucs'n'Bucks Says:

Yes, Joe….. I think 29 positive plays is better than moving to a position where he gets 5-6 targets/game.

Oh you mean the game where a majority of the offense sat out so they didnt hurt their draft position. Who would of thought a QB with no weapons would play so poorly…..

    —-

and there YA go ladies and gents!! If its Kyle then you have to take into account he lacked weapons but if Baker has two receivers and NADA else while running and doing 360s for his life he should be benched.

The Kyle Cult exposing their “logic” yet again.

“LMAO the stupidity of the Trask haters”

Where’s that Irony Meter when you need it?

  82. Bucfan37 Says:

Yeah I have watched the Florida Gators my entire life. Not a Seminole fan ever. The Gators lead the Seminoles head to head in wins all time. Go Gators!

  83. Tony Marks Says:

“Read Joe’s article where he states that “TRASK OUTPLAYED MAYFIELD BY A LITTLE IN TRAINING CAMP.”

Sigh…..Joes had to have at least 30 articles during training camp. They DID daily reports. Sorry you didn’t understand they were DAILY reports. Proof of a Joe that said Kyle won the QB competition or we can file it away where Traskies claims usually are filed and

picked up by big , usually green or black trucks very early in the morning On Tuesdays and Friday.

  84. Couch Fan Says:

I’m pretty sure 2 recievers is a good start as opposed to 0 receivers? But then again I never said Baker had no weapons or that Baker should be benched. I actually think we can win with Baker as long as we have a competent coach. Which we dont

Taking 2 different conversations and peacing them together to make an asinine point just screams desperation. But keep waving those Baker pom poms for us.

  85. Joe Says:

Yes, Joe….. I think 29 positive plays is better than moving to a position where he gets 5-6 targets/game

29 positive plays? You mean total in seven games? 🙂

But if you put him at slot, the coverage on him will be different, probably matched up with corners or safeties. Has White proven himself to be a good route-runner? Can he create separation? Not sure, haven’t seen it yet, but I doubt it. Advantage, DB’s.

    ——

I am Partial to joe’s suggestion but thats a very good point.

  87. Mike Johnson Says:

OHhh Boy..Right. Lets see these changes come Sunday. I won’t hold my breathe though…

  88. Buccos Says:

This team is competing and in almost every game until the end. That tells me a lot about the coaching. What we need is gradual improvement. We have good players but can they get to that next level. We have a very young team and good coaching is what we need more than anything else. If we do end up collapsing and start getting blown out of games then changes will be made for sure

  89. Tony Marks Says:

    Couch Fan Says:

Who just wrote in THIS conversation the reason Baker is not being benched is as follows

“I to happen to think Baker wont be benched and it has nothing to do with Baker, ITS BECAUSE of the Bozo HC who is to stubborn to admit he’s wrong and to stubborn to make any changes to see if something different can/will happen.

Your trying to blame others for your own inability to express yourself coherently is whats asinine.

  90. Couch Fan Says:

Did I say he SHOULD be benched or I THINK he needs to be benched? No. No. This is a case of YOU interpreting what you wanted me to mean.

My statement was implying there is a case for a change to be made but it wont happen because of stubborness.

But keep trying buddy. Your lack of reading comprehension is comical.

  91. TB bolts Says:

Tony mooks throwing terms like cult around while he’s here posting 20 comments in defense of a QB thats lost 4 of the last 5. Adorable. Averaging 16 ppg mainly bc of the kicker and defense that gifts midfield multiple possessions a game. What a hill to die on timmy marks. Keep telling us how great fourth team midfield is.

  92. DBS Says:

So Son of Trask Trask blames everything on Baker. But when it comes to Trask comes at People with insults, evading the question. But the ready made excuse it is everyone but Trask it seems. If they start him fine I hope he makes it fool. I told you already. I don’t care about either one. AllI care About is the Bucs. and wins. Not a losing franchise like I have bee around from the very beginning.

  93. NE Fan Says:

Have any of you heard of a player called James White, Danny Woodhead, Shane Vereen, Darren Sproles, Larry Centers, Kevin Faulk, Dave Megget, Eric Metcalf, Terry Metcalf etc? I believe that’s what Joe is suggesting.

Did I say he SHOULD be benched or I THINK he needs to be benched? No. No.

    ——-

    Si Si Si.

In English when you say the reason someone is not benched is BECAUSE of the coach being a bozo it NECESSARILY implies that you think there is reason to bench him and thus he should be if not for the bozo coach.

I understand now you don’t understand basic English so all can say is

Welcome to America and hope you enjoy your stay

    Buenos Dias.

  95. Hope in one hand… Says:

Starting from the top of the article: Mark Davis drives a 1997 Dodge Caravan despite his many millions (confirmable) which leads me to believe he also cuts his own hair. He and Gruden bonded as brothers over their dysphoric notion that barbers are a superfluous expense methinks but apparently not deep enough to overcome the cultural winds that got Gruden cancelled and the WTFs calling themselves the Comanches(spelling error?)

White is a slot at his core. The change I long to see is Kleft lining up as a Natron Means/Ritchie for the Raiders of the 90’s style back with Canales adjusting his offense to allow Mayfield to diagnose and audible White out there to make him a weapon instead of a RB/liability. There is too much talent on offense to not put up 20+ per game. Vita Vea getting a handful of offensive snaps per game lined up in the backfield would be a treat but I think he would have to change his number to do so. Bottom line- the Bucs need to add a true fullback to the offense- not a new RB.

Turnovers are not as vital as touchdowns for sure but the three vs ATL were worthless outside of padding the margin since they all left the Bucs’ offense with turrible field position. Giving your offense good field position is the primary benefit of turnovers.

  96. Couch Fan Says:

Poor little guy cant make a rational statement without twisting words to make it mean what he wants it to mean. Must be tough for you. LMAO

Maybe if you pulled your head out of Bakers rectum long enough to read properly you wouldn’t be so confused? Just a thought. Now you can go back to pretending I said things I didn’t say.

Oh and completely ignore this comment to since it doesnt fit your crappy narrative.

Still not sure why this is a Trask vs Baker thing when its clear the HC is absolutely terrible. Nobody will win with Bowles in charge.

  97. Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan Says:

Joe it tells me there was never an actual QB competition. It was all BS.

  98. Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan Says:

Couch Fan Bakey has a lot of guys up in his rectum these days. It’s a definite problem.

  99. Kalind Says:

Said it before and will say again (and forever). Teams need to stop promoting Defensive minded coaches to head coach. It’s more likely than not to end like this. Pitiful offense, middling defense and a slow crawl to a black Monday.

  100. BrevardBuc Says:

For the 2022 season, Seattle was looking for an offensive coordinator. Canalis was there for 14 years and Pete Carrol didn’t offer him the job. After 14+ years working together (at USC too), I think this speaks volumes. Yet, Bowles……

  101. BUCS4LIFE Says:

I don’t think they care for immediate success. I’m sure there’s a plan but we ain’t in on it. I’ve been married to this team for 26 long years now and I’ve gotta believe they know WTF they’re doing. I’ll keep on riding it out like always, kicking and screaming till the very last glimmer of hope.

  102. PowerOfPewter Says:

Do not criticize *The Plan*. The Bucs will continue doing the same thing over and over, until one day it might work! Have a little Patience, the Grand Canyon was created over many eons, the Buc’s running game might happen sooner.

  103. Badbucs Says:

Bucs are killing 80 million in dead cap. Clearly Bowles is no genius
But there are not a lot of good coaches who could turn this pig into a silk purse. I’m not sure Bowles is good enough even with a clean slate but this is a tall order beyond his capabilities. Lost year for the fans to endure paying for the Brady Super Bowl. Pity poor hapless Todd.

  104. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

The Stars align? Last time we heard that, Jason Licht hired Bruce Arians.

So consider this: Josh McDaniels is available now (obviously not as head coach).

Bill Belichick is on the hot seat.

If Bill Belichick gets fired, can you think of a bigger name coach than Bill Belichick for Licht to land? And Josh could be his OC.

I realize a lot of fans of other teams are conditioned to hate Bill Belichick…but he IS a winning coach when he has a good QB.

    We’ll have a high pick.

  105. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Not to mention,Bill Belichick and Jason Licht are close.

  106. BillyBucco Says:

Jason Licht could/should start working on that now actually.
I would much rather talk about that, than watch/listen to CoachFan and Tony Marks measure d!ck sizes.

  107. orlbucfan Says:

BB: Belicheat got an extension from Kraft. It’s been in reports for days. Hey joes, I’m not an angry fan; I’m a GENUINE patient one, unlike a lot of frauds, yahoos and the fair weather ones on here. You guys should have been around back in the 1980s. Those days were ROUGH!
