Damning Stat On Bucs Run Game, Rachaad White

November 5th, 2023

Sad numbers.

So the Bucs are a running team, eh?

More like the Bucs are a terrible running team. Kinda hard to win games when the element on offense you want to lean on sucks out loud.

How bad is it? Well, here is a little gem BSPN dug up. No team has a worse rushing yards per game average the past two seasons than the Bucs.

The Buccaneers are averaging 77.9 rushing yards per game, which ranks 30th in the NFL ahead of only the Vikings (73.3) and the Raiders (70.0). The Bucs are the only team to average fewer than 80 rushing yards (77.2) over the past two seasons.

How can you be this bad? Joe will review.

The Bucs have a new offensive coordinator and a new running backs coach. The Bucs have a new quarterback. The Bucs virtually have a new offensive line.

What are the common denominators consistent with both last year’s dreadful running team and this year’s galling running team?

* Robert Hainsey at center.
* Rachaad White as your bellcow runner.
* Bucs coach Todd Bowles.
* Run-game coordinator Harold Goodwin.

“This Joe” has maintained that White is a misplaced slot receiver. With your offense blowing chunks, what is the big deal if you move White to slot? It’s not like you’re losing a running back. You’re possibly gaining a receiver.

Or,are the Bucs just too stubborn to try to mix things up and spark an offense?

What is the definition of insanity? Doing the same things over and over again and expecting a different outcome.

The Bucs have averaged 12 points a game since the bye. Joe has seen coaches get launched for lesser offenses.

The red button is exposed. We just need someone to press it DOWN and LAUNCH the waste from the toilet bowl into DEEP SPACE… ASAP!

  2. garro Says:

White was our “bell cow” RB last year?

Did I miss something in the Bucs media guide last year?

Come on Joe give up on that horse. It is dead and stinking up the place.

As far as Slot receiver goes, I am not averse to the idea, but who do you replace this years “bell cow” with? None have stepped up thus far and shown that they are worthy of more snaps. Jason is not gonna bring in a magic free, free agent running back to save us soo…

    Go Bucs!

There’s really only one comment to say here:
‘Ward, please don’t be so hard on the beaver’

  4. Lombardi Lenny Says:

I just read a stat that Baker is 117-0 when he starts on day light saving Sundays lol.

Enough of the excuses for Bowles.
    Texans have:

    Head coach- 1st year
    OC-1st year
    DC-1st year
Starting offense- consist of 70% free agent/rookies for 2023
    Starting defense-consist of 55% free agents/rookies for 2023
Texans beat two winning teams-Jags n Steelers

Bucs average points per year since 2018:

    Dirk Koetter:
    2018-24.8

    Bruce Arians:
    2019-28.6
    2020-30.8
    2021-30.1

    Todd Bowles:
    2022-18.4
    2023-17.3

We’re on a decline n this plane is in crash mode.
If we lose to the Texans, it’s a no brainer, Bowles must go!!!!

  7. Leopold Stotch Says:

Joe, you are onto something with the receiver thing. White was a former receiver. It was in his draft profile. Our Draft Guru even mentioned it.

  8. SufferingSince76 Says:

Bowles is either extremely stubborn, stupid or he knows he’s not going anywhere. None of these are good for the Bucs.

  9. Beej Says:

Was watching King Henry the other night. He’s not particularly fast, but he’s 250 pounds, and opposing players get knocked over line dominoes. White (ALSO not particularly fast) is 219

  10. Kaptain Morgan Says:

Dude spent too much time on talking to the media during the off season instead of getting ready for the regular season.

  11. Hodad Says:

Slot receiver, or check down out of the backfield, what’s the difference? Checking down to White has become our running, and short passing game. Expect more check downs to come in the future, with varying results.

  12. realistic-optimistic Says:

White had 10+ carries only 5 times last year. And he only had a 33% share of the teams rushing attemps. Bellcow in 2022? Nice troll, Joe.

  13. Fansince76 Says:

Yea, Bowles is getting fired at the end of the year. Looks like were headed towards a total reset which sucks.

  14. TDavis Says:

    Don’t forget Cade Otton

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Ironically, that’s not the actual definition of insanity. It was originally said as sarcasm, and it just sort of caught on.

  16. Since76 Says:

The sad thing is I think the running game is better than our passing game. It’s a bucs life.

  17. JimBobBuc Says:

I’m thinking along Joe’s line of thought. I would throw a lot more to White as his hands seem good and he sure can’t run. Give Chase Edmonds A LOT of carries – I don’t understand why he isn’t getting more snaps. WTF! Joe, please check into this….

Everybody on the team loves Harold Goodwin, nice guy, BUT he needs to be demoted NOW. Bring in a consultant NOW, like Donte Scarnecchia, to teach our Oline coaches and figure out how to be at least average in the Oline.

  18. Rod Munch Says:

White has, by far, been your best RB – all the other options have been worse. Again, if White is the issue, show me the proof. Show me where he’s consistently missing holes, making the wrong reads? I ask this all the time yet I haven’t seen a single person even attempt it.

The issue is the run blocking, it’s not good. But the other issue is moronic coaching who run in predictable situations, and just run to run the ball instead of trying to take advantage of defenses sitting on the run. Finally, the issue is the team gives up on the run early – which I’m OK with, but if you’re averaging 4.2 yards per carry and looking good, you should get more than 9 carries if you care about running stats.

Personally, as I’ve said for years, it’s the future, you run through the short passing game. It doesn’t matter if you get 5 yards on a swing pass or out of the backfield, it’s 5 yards. People who don’t understand are very simple minded.
