Comparison Vindication For Todd Bowles

November 12th, 2023

Todd Bowles got into the minds of his players.

Fans love to compare performances of teams against common opponents, especially when it’s in back-to back weeks.

It’s not fair, but it can be relevant and it’s certainly interesting.

So with that, Joe presents the fact that the Houston Texans offense hammered the Bengals in Cincinnati today for 30 points and over 500 yards of offense. Stud rookie QB C.J. Stroud? He followed up his historic gouging of the Bucs defense with 356 yards passing against the Bengals. The Texans also ran for 188 yards!

Maybe, just maybe, the Bowles defense ran into a truly sizzling offense that the NFL is still figuring out.

Joe isn’t making excuses for the nasty, ugly almost gutless performance of the Bucs defense last Sunday. But it is quality food for thought.

As the NFL cliché goes, things are never as bad as they seem, or as good.

  1. Jack Clark Says:

Thank you Todd Bowles for not being a 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 and calling cover 2! Please bench JTS soft, weak, sorry useless as and start a real man like YaYa Diaby! Go Bucs!!!!!

  2. Rod Munch Says:

Amazing the difference when you don’t just sit back in a soft zone the entire game – when you actually use Devin correct and let him create havoc.

  3. CyberDilemma Says:

Houston also beat the Jaguars in Jacksonville.

  4. realistic-optimistic Says:

Rejoice, Bowles finally felled a rookie QB!

  5. Tbbucs3 Says:

Greg Gaines was also demoted on the depth chart, recorded 0 snaps today.

Bowles did an excellent job with the defense today and is constantly having to overcome bad signings by Jason Licht.

  6. TonySoprano Says:

Interestingly, Stroud compares strongly to Borrows imo.

The defense looked muuuuch better today. They played aggressive and downhill. Also pretty amazing how much a few personnel changes can make. Keep JTS on the pine. Give Diaby and Watts all his snaps.

  7. realistic-optimistic Says:

Gaines definitely had at least 1 snap. Had his helmet knocked off on the play.

  8. Tye Says:

Saints lose the game with Captain Turnover @ qb…..

  9. I remember 21 Says:

I’m not saying the Texans don’t have a live, existing, NFL offense led by what should’ve been the first overall pick. I’m saying the only adjustments bowles made during the game were the wrong ones. It’s the NFL, we’re gonna play some good offenses. I thought we were supposed to have a good defense? If the expectation is we’re gonna lose any time we play a good offense, we’re not gonna do much.

    #FIREbowles

  10. ElioT Says:

Even stopped clocks are right twice a day.

    No cookies for Todd today.

    The team is still awful.

  11. SufferingSince76 Says:

No vindication for Bowles. Titans just stink. Beat the Niners 😆 and maybe he might be vindicated.

  12. HC Grover Says:

The more dull and boring the game. The better chance for a win.

  13. dmatt Says:

I said it yesterday. Bench JTS and put powerful Ya Ya n hungry Markee Watts in. Both made an impact today. Ya Ya is a beast of terror n JTS is a feast of pleasure cause OL eat him up. No way JTS should start over Ya Ya the remainder of the season.

  14. Pewter Power Says:

Many Texans are sizzling but he still sucks long before the Texans games. Long before this season

  15. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

When you compare what Carolina did to Houston, Stroud only threw140 yards and ZERO TD PASSES well the defensive meltdowns are deservedly thrown on his shoulders because he knew this defense couldn’t play zone yet refused to change it and instead gave us another step on the walk of shame by giving up almost 500 yards passing and FIVE TOUCHDOWNS to a ROOKIE AND lost the game in 40 seconds when he did squat against the worst team in the NFL. I don’t like the character attacks on him but he is a bad head coach who needs to go at end of the season

  16. SlyPirate Says:

Bowles is a terrible HC. This win doesn’t change that.

  17. ModHairKen Says:

It’s one game. Nothing to get excited about.

  18. Show Me the TDs Says:

Agree with most. Bowles needs to go.

  19. Cchead Says:

Msrkees Watts play today will take snaps away from JTS the remainder of the season

  20. Bojim Says:

I like TB but he just isn’t an HC. And why do people keep talking about getting rid of JL? He’s a great GM.

  21. Defense Rules Says:

Today’s game was a replay of our win against New Orleans in Game 4.

    o Today’s game: 29 rushes – 29 passes … 340 total yards … 7-of-15 on 3rd down … 1 giveaway … 31:40 Bucs TOP

    o New Orleans game: 33 rushes – 33 passes … 353 total yards … 8-of-15 on 3rd down … 1 giveaway … 31:11 Bucs TOP

    Coincidence? I think not.

  22. Bucs2023 Says:

For the many of us, crying/whining for Watts to get some snaps…we’ve been vindicated. Only took them 10 weeks to give the kid a look. Simply awful.

  23. BucU Says:

God I really hate when u guys make excuses for awful play from these coaches and players.

  24. D-Rome Says:

There were a few people saying the Texans suck before and after last week’s game. Anyone saying that hasn’t really been paying attention to the talent they have.

  25. orlbucfan Says:

Houston Texans spend enough money on that team. They better start winning games. Interesting comparison, DR.

  26. BrianBucs Says:

The Texans have a defensive minded head coach that understands that in today’s NFL you have to have an aggressive passing game.
Bowles has not caught on to that yet

  27. Proudbucsfan Says:

Exactly BrianBucs, but Blowes keeps trying to jam square pegs into round holes. Jason licht built this team for airing it out that’s why koetter and Arians had such success with the offense. Todd just doesn’t get it and it’s blatantly obvious.
