Bucs Open As Favorites In Indianapolis

November 20th, 2023

Team Glazer is watching.

The heck with the Colts’ two-game winning streak and their rested bodies coming off a bye week, Tampa Bay is the betting favorite to win in Indianapolis on Sunday.

The Bucs opened as a 1 1/2-point favorite last night on various online sportsbooks.

Apparently, the oddsmakers aren’t impressed by the Colts handling the Panthers and Patriots in consecutive weeks, even after beating the Texans and Ravens back in September.

Joe agrees. The Colts (5-5) are a messy team starting a backup quarterback. However, the Colts are highly dangerous to a team like the Bucs. Only once this season have they scored less than 20 points. Once!! The Bucs have scored less than 20 in half their games.

It’s a great matchup for the Bucs and probably a Team Glazer judgment day for Todd Bowles.

There is no good reason for the Bucs to lose to the Colts. If the Bucs do fail, then they’re an underachieving mess — and losers of six of their past seven games. Bucs owners have gone coach shopping for much lesser crimes.

    I don’t think so anymore.

  2. Statistically Insignificant Reader Says:

Lets hope Glazers are already researching next years coaching candidates.

  3. DBS Says:

After everything they have seen? They should already be looking ahead. But we have been down this road how many times before with little or the same results? Everyone thinks it’s just change the coaches. We have the players. No we don’t.. And we have to get that just right too. This will not be repaired in 1 season.

  4. NJbucs23 Says:

Dont worry people will find ways and especially the Joes to defend baker.

  5. HC Grover Says:

Will Bowzo blunder his way to a close loss is the question. This stacks up to be a good game to watch. It could even be the predicted tie game.

  6. Conner50 Says:

NJbucs23…. I’ll defend him he’s our qb and he’s done a good job so far with incompetent coaches. He’s took care of the ball so far and has evaded a lot of sacks with a weak line. Not his fault we’re 4-6 it’s Bowles and canales fault we’re not that good

  7. John Sinclear Says:

We need some run blockers up front and some fast, smart defensive backson the back end. That’ll solve it. Leave the coaches alone, for a couple of years!

  8. adam from ny Says:

we were a shade a way from a blowout yesterday…then the 9ers went easier, opting to attempt to eat clock…

it backfired a little and we seemed to be making more of a game of it…

    the key word is “seemed”…

because it really did seem like that for a few moments late…but it never really was actually happening – when it came time to score it just didn’t happen…

so hell yeah we better beat the colts…they could very well be 3-7 right now…

we will be rocking the all pewter unis for the game…so i think we come out ready to ball next sunday…maybe even take prisoners

  9. TampaBayBucsFanSince1976 Says:

Throw a mess of Glazer loot at Jim Harbaugh and promise him you will draft JJ .

  10. Lombardi Lenny Says:

We can only pray Bowles is fired this week.

Please let him no that the refs don’t take away points if you use timeouts in the first half.

  11. Nicholas Carlson Says:

“Judgment day for Todd Bowles” – completely agree. He gets a pass for 49ers game. Now they win the division and he stays, or he doesn’t and he’s gone.

  12. LVMYBUCS Says:

Funny how we judge this clown Bowles on the bad teams he wins against.

  13. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

“There is no good reason for the Bucs to lose to the Colts”

Really? The Bucs have TB as their HC. Bowles will “scheme” ME and Godwin out of the game, until the end when he gets desperate….

  14. adam from ny Says:

i watched drake may closely in that OT win last week…not really feeling him too much…

    maybe bo nix

    ————————————
i’m not so sure harbaugh would choose tampa over san diego or vegas…he might go big market…

but yeah i’d like to see him here rocking the pewter

  15. adam from ny Says:

don’t be at all shocked if bowles is here next year and we do an entire year of trasking at qb, as we are still hitting the reset button on the cap issues…

then for 2025 all the dead weight is shed off the roster and it’s full steam ahead for 2025 …

this could be the ultimate goal that was put in place before the 2023 season even kicked off

  16. fishhawkbuc Says:

Todd Bowles Head Coaching Record (Nuff Said):
35-53-0 across six seasons including going 0-1-0 in the playoffs.

  17. HC Grover Says:

Face it. We are still suffering from the Clunkers Ariens dropped on us.

  18. D Cone Says:

Instead of ‘Moving the Chains’ try to move the ball. On pass receptions of 25+ Tampa Bay has just as many as Zach Wilson.
Bucs average 18 1st downs per game which is 4 fewer than San Fran. Points per game 49ers score 8 more.

Work to get to 3rd and 2 .Bucs go to 3 yard out to Godwin. Good teams are goings for 10 to 20 yards. Reduce the number 1st downs and chance of drive to stall.

Was nice to see deeper balls going down field but they are useless if they are overthrown by 3 to 5 yards.

Twenty teams have more dropped passes than the Bucs and some more than double. Bucs average one per game. Quit blaming drops.

So at 29 or 45 passing yesterday, take away one drop and Bucs are 30 of 45. What happened on the other 15? One was picked and 3 were almost picked. That leaves only 9 that need to be blamed on the receiving end of the process.

  19. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Does any fan care at this point in this pointless season.

It’s just another “lost season” from these Bucs again.

I wonder if the Glazer Boys ever get tired of this losing 📉 hamster wheel 🛞 they’ve been riding forever????

  20. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Still….no Franchise QB and team Identity……again!!!!

  21. fishhawkbuc Says:

Here is another nugget. Google Todd Bowles Coaching Tree…..Its a telephone pole. Meaning, NO ONE under him has ever moved their career upward when under TB’s leadership…as in NO ONE

  22. NE Fan Says:

Yes one team held them under 20 points. The Patriots. Sorry if I were to choose, I’d take Minshew over Baker. They are somewhat the same guy but Mishew seems to have more upside. Funny stuff, many times I’ve heard Brady trashed for the 3 ints in the GB playoff game, at least he backed it up scoring 31 points. Mayfield had two turnovers and a newspaper 14 points yesterday and many are still in love with him. Average at best.

  23. HC Grover Says:

Of all the current nfl HC who has the worst record….(with more than 1 season)? Why that would be Todd Bowles with a .400 average. see: footballdb.com

  24. HC Grover Says:

Divide 17 by .4 and you get 6.8 wins. Close to the 6.5 win prediction.

  25. Cobraboy Says:

When the reality of a poor team sets in, it is time to look toward the future.

This season is toast, even IF they make the playoffs. There is no hope for a “deep run,” much less a Lombardi.

Even with Arians, the saving grace for the Bowles defense was an O that could outscore teams.

I fart in the general direction of casuals who call Bowles D “genius.” He’s NOT a genius at anything. Take away the occasional blitzer getting home to the QB; look at all the wide-open spaces receivers have. I do NOT think these are terrible players at all. I think it is a bad scheme and compounded with bad coaching.

A prime example is the DL “rotation.” Play the hot player? No. “Rotate,” even if the rotated players are prime for OL exploitation. That is just one example.

I was no fan of Bowles last season or this season, but I was willing to give him a chance to prove me wrong. And all that guy has done is cement my opinion in 4000psi concrete with 1″ rebar.

I am officially all-in for a higher draft position.

Bowles is barely an improvement over Mike Smith.

Also: I feel badly for Mayfield. While he is not top-tier, he is hamstrung by an OC that is waaaaay over his head. Just compare and contrast what the 9ers did play-call and scheme-wise, and it is a striking difference to what Canales has in his bag of tricks.

Purdy had a “system” to work with. Mayfield often looks like he’s all on his own.

Canales makes me pine for Dirk Koetter’s offense.

I am over this coaching incompetence.

    The team sucks
    The coaches suck
    The offense sucks
    The defense sucks
Ticket prices do not suck anymore

  27. Bucs56 Says:

Anybody here a season ticket holder? Bucs are auto billing for next year tickets. Can they do this without written acknowledgement? Seems wrong even if you do plan to renew

  28. NE Fan Says:

Twice this season young QB’s set records against the Bucs D. Firing not out of the question.

  29. David Says:

    Gazer,
Fire HC and bench Baker. It would be too later on . Bucs will beat a bad Colts team on Sunday. Then what ? Are they going to super bowl ? Hell no.

  30. Matt Says:

Weird. I placed a ML bet on BUCS last night at Circa for +105, means they are the dog. IND was shown -1.5. Guess I got in early…

  31. T. McGee Says:

    Excellent Monty Python reference Cobraboy.

I don’t understand the idea that the coach gets a pass on the good teams. The 49ers are not winners of the last … what… 20+ Super Bowls? No passes. That was a winnable game. They all are. That’s the whole point of a salary cap. You are telling me Brock Purdy is unbeatable? No NFL owner believes that.

Dude, shut up. Your team is 2-8 😂 you have no room to talk. You’re like the pot calling the kettle black

  33. Jack Clark Says:

Our offense is holding this team back. Todd Bowles defense is 9th best in the NFL allowing only 20 points per game. We need better run blocking from our offensive line to fix our running game and we need a better quarterback to score more points. Asking our defense to hold offenses to single digit numbers so we can win by our offense scoring only 2 touchdowns is unrealistic in today’s NFL. Bottom line is our offense is going to have to start putting up more than 20 points a game if we expect to have a winning record

  36. Tbbucs3 Says:

The Bucs have sent 2 QB jerseys to the hall of Fame in the span of 3 weeks. This defense is flat out embarrassing

  37. WyomingJoe Says:

NE Fan, Two things: Please go back to YOUR team and stop disparaging ours! And stop your trolling! Baker is rated #12 in QBs, so don’t shift the blame on him. He’ll finish in the Top 10, maybe Top 7. Think of what he could do with a running game like SF, or with a TE like Kittle, or with an O-line like Mahomes, or with… you get it.

  38. NYbucsfan Says:

If they haven’t already decided to fire Todd I don’t know what the hell they’re doing. I can’t imagine why anyone would want him to return for another season.

  39. Jeff’s grandpa Says:

NE fan boi has to come here his team is absolute trash as it always was pre Brady and has been since no more Brady balls to gurgle

  40. Seattle Buc Says:

Joe: “The Colts (5-5) are a messy team starting a backup quarterback.”

Their backup quarterback has a higher career rating (91.1) that our journeyman bust quarterback (87.2).

  41. TonySoprano Says:

Every week, every article it’s “One more loss and it’s judgment time!” “If Bowles losses just one more game, that’ll be the final straw!” Been hearing this for weeks.

Todd Bowles’ defensive scheme is unbelievably overrated. He constantly runs a cover 3, with the CBs and Winfield playing deep and asking our OLB and ILBs to constantly cover. It’s such an easy defense to beat. Just send guys to the middle where they’re wide open, or to the hashes where they’re being covered by the likes of Devin White and Ryan Neal – also automatic completions.

  42. Pewter Power Says:

Sounds just like the talk the week we played the Texans

If you are what you’re recorded said you are, the colts as of today are better than us.

  43. Anonymous Says:

Lavonte is out for an extended period of time, Devin White is about to be exposed.

  44. Boss Says:

soprano nails it. our players are fine. the D and O scheme suck

  45. Rod Munch Says:

Interesting. When I checked the odds right after the game yesterday, it was Colts -1.5.

If it flipped that quickly, it means some good money was moved.

  46. Rod Munch Says:

I’m still seeing Bucs +1.5, I guess it depends on the book.

  47. Pelsbuc61 Says:

We are just beginning another lost decade unless the Glazers do something drástic as in firing the entire coaching staff and GM Licht. He’s also to blame for drafting JTS, Hall, no RBs and overpaying for 2 terrible CBs in Davis and Dean. Brady was the one who brought in Brown, Gronk, Lenny and he elevated the play of D. White. After he left, Bucs went back to being the losers they’ve been. This roster need an overhaul and one draft won’t do it. Bowles is not only incompetent but his defense is now being shredded every game. Need to hire an offensive minded coach.

  48. NE Fan Says:

Jack@ are you freaking blind? Did you watch that game yesterday? SF went 99yds in 4 plays? Can’t tell me they were gassed that was SF first series out of the 1/2. I agree Belichick needs to go but you would never see that happen against a Belichick D. Patriots went to the playoffs in 2020 without Brady. The Bucs pre Brady hasn’t gone since your first SB.

  49. NJbucs23 Says:

“Connor50”- you’re wrong. Baker can’t hit the deep ball consistently and he’s not the guy who’s gonna get you over the top. This experiment is a failure !

  50. BUCS4LIFE Says:

After sitting on their hands watching the trade deadline go by I’m not at all sure what the front office is thinking or capable of doing or not doing anymore.

  54. Kidfloflo Says:

With all the cap issues after getting Brady to win ANOTHER super bowl, we are in a perilous situation money wise and are dealing with a newbie O.C. and still stuck with Bowles bad clock decisions, and some questionable schemes and player decisions, fans on this site are still gonna be pissed if we win ANOTHER division title, and make the playoffs, cause we might get ousted and not move to second round!??? I mean c’mon man u got to take some lumps for winnning a second S.B and all that comes with it, but here it’s all gloom and doom

  55. garro Says:
