Supreme Game For Lavonte David; Now Leads Bucs In Tackles

October 15th, 2023

Lavonte David

What a show iconic Bucs linebacker Lavonte David put on today against the Lions.

Too bad his co-stars can’t say the same.

David was a menace, looking like his former All-Pro self in his 12th season.

He racked up nine solo tackles, 12 combined tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack. NFL.com also credited David for one pass defensed, though he certainly had more than that by a real-world scale.

David, 33, now leads the Bucs in solo tackles and combined tackles this season. He has 974 career solo tackles in the regular season — only 70 shy of Rondé Barber’s career total. And Barber played a full 16 seasons.

Joe feels badly that David had to go home a loser today. But it’s awfully uplifting to see him playing so well.

While Todd Bowles said the “sluggish” Bucs looked like they were coming off a bye week. Joe thinks it was non-sluggish David who looked like he was coming off a bye — rested and ready to play with his hair on fire.

The defense, outside of God-awful Ryan Neal, played well today – and David was incredible. You can’t put this loss on the defense, well, outside of Neal, who personally allowed two TDs by himself.

lavonte was balling like the year he had about 8 sacks…

    remember that?…

he pulled the old lavonte out the hat once the old orange jersey went on…he was a phenom out there today

  3. adam from ny Says:

he was popping off like winfield did against the saints

Only potential error from David I saw was on that St Brown TD is looked like David slipped trying to get him but slow Ryan Neal had better leverage to make a play and let #14 fly right around him.

The Bucs made a mistake letting an affordable Mike Edwards walk. Neal doesn’t cover well and doesn’t even hit hard to make up for it. Soft safety.

Dude is such a stud!! I sure hope Ira can get him his gold jacket when that time comes! He’s been hosed out of all those all pro’s and pro bowls but his numbers show he’s better the Luke and Wagner even though they got those all pros and pro bowl’s. If he can get one more Super Bowl he 100% in. I still think he’s 100% in but it could just take more time. The game he had today just shows how age is just a number and he still has it

This defense looked so much better with Neal and Dean hurt. Dee Delaney and McCollum need to start. Play the best damn people and if that needs to change on a weekly basis because people are slacking off then so be it.

  7. ElioT Says:

He was the only dawg on the field today.

Winfield, White, Vea, Davis, Dean, ya’ll did jack squat. Y’all were invisibles. And all that big paper too. Looking like chumps.

  8. ElioT Says:

Big paper bois that don’t make a difference.

  9. Lakeland Steve Says:

David is all heart. He sells out on every play like it may be his last. I sure wish we had 10 other guys who played with the intensity and heart he did today. He was amazing.

  10. SlyPirate Says:

    LVD is a Bucs legend.

LVD showed up and showed out. If 45 31 7 9 24 35 played like LVD we win this game with no offense.

  12. Rod Munch Says:

I think the NFL flew the officials from our game to Buffalo for this game.

  13. ElioT Says:

    Lavonte is the man.

    A man we’ll miss when he’s gone.

    D. White isn’t even close. and that’s sad.

Remember him balling straight outta Nebraska. Killer!

  14. SB~LV Says:

They should put him in the ROH at the next home game!

  15. Oxycondomns Says:

It was the creamsicles. The man was playing with bucs pride

Explain please. The referees SUCKED in this game! Well, LVD has been my hero since he came here. The only time Mr. David looked bad in a uni is when the Bucs were sportin’ those godawful red pajama duds with the hideously designed white numbers. You can bet he’s quietly giving off a lot of stink eye vibes at OBP this week. LVD=HOF.

Of course this defense played great. Holding Detroit to 20 was fantastic. The “bend, don’t break” mentality is working. I just wish they’d bend a little less. Too many 3rd down conversions.
