“I Would Love To Look Like That”

October 12th, 2023

Respecting the Lions.

We all know Bucs offensive coordinator Dave Canales wants the Bucs offense to look like Seattle’s, from whence he came. The Seahawks have always had a productive run game to go along with a dangerous passing attack.

It seems there is another team that Canales wants to emulate. That would be the Bucs’ opponent on Sunday, Creamsicle Day, the Lions.

The Lions are a tough, physical team really good at running and dangerous in the passing game. Everything about the Lions’ offense Canales likes.

“I really regard them highly and have kind of followed their progress over the last three years,” Canales said today at One Buc Palace. “The development of their offense, the run game, the play-action, the attitude.

“It’s really a style that I would love to look like that, eventually, as we put things together and get polished.”

Well, so far the Bucs are looking good, with the exception of the run game. There, the Bucs are woefully behind the most of the league. Only the Texans have as bad of a run game: three yards per rush.
