Saints Choke Versus Packers; Falcons Lose

September 24th, 2023

Lost.

The Buccaneers are alone in first place!

What a day it was for Tampa Bay.

Joe got great joy watching the slimy Saints choke away a 17-point lead against the Packers in Green Bay. Saints QB Derek Carr busted up his shoulder and in came Jameis Winston. The Saints (2-1) had zero points in five drives with Jameis at quarterback, including the Saints missing a late 46-yard field goal that led to the Packers getting in victory formation.

The Bucs head to New Orleans next week. Joe is soooo hoping it’s Jameis at the command.

Detroit led wire-to-wire in an easy 20-6 win against Atlanta (2-1), which couldn’t run the ball. That’s right, Atlanta was dreadful on the ground while QB Desmond Ridder was decent through the air.

Now it’s the undefeated Bucs’ turn in the NFC South tomorrow night against the Eagles.

  2. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

I hit the Saints kicker with “miss it newnan”!! You older dudes know what I’m taking about.

Fist place no matter what! Go Bucs!

  3. Jack Clark Says:

Sean Payton is as bad of a head coach without Drew Brees as Bill Belichick is without Tom Brady 😂 70 points wow! Even if we lose to the Eagles we will still be tied for first place

  4. optimisticbucsfan Says:

    buwhahaha… skru payton

  5. Tye Says:

    BaaaaaHaaaaHsaaaaaaaa!
Packers saw Winston take over and THEY GOT HUNGRY knowing NOW they have a chance to win….

Carr goes down and the Saints scoring ended!

  6. ModHairKen Says:

    Where are the Jameis fans?

  7. Joe in Michigan Says:

Was Payton taking bong hits on the sidelines? They gotta fire their DC after giving up 10 TD’s, right?

  8. Tye Says:

@ModHairKen – I’m sure they will be here all week popping off IF Winston starts next week!

  9. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Tye,

You could say that dem Packers fans done checked they sheets and knew what be up.
    😂

  10. Irishmist Says:

The Bucs should add that backhand shovel slip screen that Miami runs to their playbook. Mayfield would run that well.

  11. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Sean Payton really straightened things out. Ha!!

Watching the Saints and Payton blow chucks is awesome!

  12. Bucs 95 Says:

The saints O line seems suspect they been giving up alot if sacks and if jamies plays next weekend it could be a repeat of last year week 2 against them

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Our loss comes tomorrow.

  14. Pewter Power Says:

    I was loving it

  15. SlyPirate Says:

Winston, “I’m still a Super Bowl caliber QB!”

  16. Rod Munch Says:

    Today makes sense…

As Winston leads the Saints on a game winning drive, only to have the kicker miss a very makeable kick, Matt Gay is booming 4 50+ yard FGs to outduel Justin Tucker to win the game for the Colts.

  17. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Yeah……the Bucs will lose tomorrow…..not because the Bucs are a bad team…..but because the Eagles are both really good on both offense and defense…….

But if the “Good Jameis” shows up this coming Sunday……that won’t be an easy game either.

  18. WillieG Says:

All this good news makes me nervous because our beloved Bucs never seem to take advantage of gifts they’re given. Also, Ronde is being honored at halftime. Have they ever won a game when someone was honored at halftime? Man, I hope I’m wrong, but all signs point to a loss.

  19. A Bucs Fan Says:

Bucs can take the lead in the division tomorrow with a statement game against the Iggles!

  20. SlyPirate Says:

I truly don’t care if it’s Winston or Carr. That ship has sailed. Just win.

  21. SB~LV Says:

Jameis is a capable QB … anything can happen and we still have a game to play before we think anything about the Saints

  22. Derobbins Says:

Sounds like Carr going to the hospital. Checking for internal injuries.

Hope this isn’t a simms situation.

  23. Leopold Stotch Says:

What a glorious day. Hopefully we can take care of business

  24. Fred McNeil Says:

    Music to my ears!!!!

  25. Fred McNeil Says:

Some of the football I’ve watched today was inexcusable. I did thoroughly enjoy Sean Payton getting absolutely embarrassed.

  26. Fred McNeil Says:

    Hope Carr needs an autopsy

  27. BucU Says:

Love how today played out. I’m tickled pink.
Saints blog probly a bit salty today I’d bet.
    Haha love it!

  28. Rod Munch Says:

Just think if you had the Broncos +49, and still lost. LOL!

    HAHAHA, that made me laugh.

BTW, when NFL security shows up to ask you questions about your comment, just slam the door in their face, they’re not real cops.

  30. Mike C Says:

    That is funny Rod

  31. Mike S Says:

Miami hung a 70 burger on Denver. 726 yards of offense and 10 TDs.

    Yikes.

  32. Irishmist Says:

The Dolphins took Tua out after the 3rd quarter, while Payton left Wilson in to the end of the game down 50, taking hit after hit. Shows how much he values Wilson.

  33. ModHairKen Says:

All you so-called Bucs fans who are running your mouths about the Eagles winning, go cheer for the Saints. They need you.

This team is going to dismantle your little pansy Eagles with their sissy green and white costumes. They overplayed their talent but still blew it last year, and they are going to choke in Ray Jay. They always do.

  34. Duane in Sanford Says:

About as exciting a time as you can expect this early in the season. Bucs/Eagles MNF is a legit throwback game. I just want to see these guys play hard and come out healthy for the division game on Sunday. Great opportunity to cash in on house money. LFG.

  35. Bucs13 Says:

We beat the Bears and Vikings…

  36. Rod Munch Says:

The before the season CBS Sports Madden 24 simulation has the Bucs losing to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Mayfield had 4,529 yards, 36 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions.

But, very interestingly, the same sim had the Colts as the #2 seed in the AFC, and the Colts are now 2-1.

But, then again, it had the Broncos as the #7 seed. That isn’t happening, if it does, that’s going to be a heck of a comeback by Payton as coach.

  37. Tbbucs3 Says:

LoL to the Jameis haters taking a victory lap when the Saints kicker clearly lost the game for them….same pathetic haters that rooted against the Bucs when Jameis was here for 5 years…Saints lost which is great, but Jameis played fine.

  38. AverageBucFan Says:

Jameis just needs to leave the Aints at this rate.

  39. steele Says:

Many of us told you guys who were quaking in fear about Derek Carr, the Falcons, etc. They are trash. Worse than they were, even. Winning the division is not a major accomplishment, and not a measure.

  40. DBS Says:

Tbbucs3. As always you can blame the kicker. Saints were up 17-0 So why blame 1 person? Somebody gave up 18 points.

  41. optimisticbucsfan Says:

bears are really bad…tomorrow is a huge test for us.

  42. Rod Munch Says:

So I listened to the very entertaining Bears podcasts and radio this week to hear them cry and whine all week about losing to the Bucs, and it was fun. But the big thing was Justin Fields calling out his coaches (to a limited degree), saying he was going to ‘f-it mode’ this week, basically meaning he wasn’t going to just sit in the pocket like his coaches want him to, and instead would make plays.

Well, watching this KC game, he’s mainly just sitting back in the pocket, and is still super slow to make reads, and I think he’s only made plays with his feet once.

Talk about garbage coaching. Why do you have a QB like Fields, who is the best running QB in the NFL, and tell him to be a pocket passer? Really stupid. Would be like having Tom Brady run the Michael Vick offense.

The Bucs should offer the Bears a 5th rounder for Fields, I think they’d take it.

  43. Rod Munch Says:

For fantasy football sake, I need the Bears to do something, or else KC will pull Mahomes really early.

    What a terrible organisation.

  44. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Poor JayMiss.
    😂😂😂

  45. Mike C Says:

Jay Miss defenders are hilarious, the dude is trash, “the kicker missed ” I watched the game… he was trash

  46. Hodad Says:

F the Eagles, we own them!

  47. Mike C Says:

Rod, I would give 7th for him

  48. optimisticbucsfan Says:

Looks like Chicago may have quit on the staff.

That is a really really bad football team

  49. DungyDance Says:

Lol, the caption Joe put under Winston’s picture. Lol

  50. Capt2fish Says:

Not quite sure why Mahomes is still in the game up by 34 in the 3rd. Gabbert should be in showcasing everything he learned from Trask.

  51. adam from ny Says:

i’m starting to think we might have struggled too much against the bears

  52. Bucs13 Says:

@Steele. Don’t ruin it for the fans who look at the team through their pewter-colored glasses. Some really want to crown us after beating the Bears and Vikings.

  53. adam from ny Says:

    saints ain’t all that…

    ridder is a joke…

carolina = pathetic tiny rookie qb waste of a pick

  54. adam from ny Says:

anyone know what actually happened to carr’s shoulder…???

also miami is no joke…but sean payton is

  55. Rod Munch Says:

    Mike C Says:
    September 24th, 2023 at 6:08 pm
Rod, I would give 7th for him

    ———

At this point they might take. I think, as a weapon, Fields is worth giving a shot, but you’d need an OC that designed an offense around him. Asking him to sit back and be a pocket passer, is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen.

When he drops back, he takes forever to scan the field, and they should be making the offense super simple, one, maybe two reads, if they’re not there, run. Seems very simple.

Anyways, at least if the Bucs lose, I’ll have some sports talk to listen to, because the Bears fans and media are going to go full on nuts.

  56. Mike C Says:

Bucs 13, not trying to “crown them” but I am also not going to crap on a 2 and 0 start….. like some “fans” here is an idea, enjoy when “your” team wins and don’t be a pessimistic prick

  57. Rod Munch Says:

Next week you got the Bears vs Broncos.

If KC doesn’t shutdown its offense, you could have the two having lost by 100 points.

Has that ever happened before? Anything even close to that?

  58. DungyDance Says:

Haaaa! Cowgirls down by 2 scores

  59. Craig Says:

Glad the Bucs game will be on TV next week, we would probably get stuck watching the Bears/ Broncs.

That game might be the only scoreless game in NFL history.

Congrats Jameis, gave away your Ws to Green Bay, what a way to share.

NFL has become a Haves and Have Nots league, the parity experiment has failed.

  60. TheBucsAnthem Says:

It’s crazy you can score that many points and STILL LOSE the game🤷

  61. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I wonder what are going thru Broncos fans heads…..thinking Sean blows chunks right now??????

……sorry Broncos fans,….but Sean Payton doesn’t have a Dree Brees on his team…..

  62. Old School Bucs Says:

So we are on our way. Bucs 1st place in the division. Tomorrow, behind sniper Mayfield, soon to be the greatest Quarter Back in history, Bucs will crush the Eagles! No looking back. Who needs Brady??? We got Mayfield!!!!!

  63. Rod Munch Says:

I’m reading headlines and the Vikings are blaming their home crowd for making too much noise at the end of the game when the Vikings were on offense, and that causing a bunch of confusion and making them waste time and not get the right play in. HAHAHA. Morons.

  64. Jack Clark Says:

If andy reid can get 6 rings out of patrick mahomes then he will surpass bill belichick as greatest NFL head coach of all time

  65. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I’m so happy the cowpokes lost…..made my day!!!!

  66. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ Old School Bucs

What you smoking on saying that about Baker Mayfield 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣????

  67. Bucs 95 Says:

So after that interception by dak the bucs are the only team in the nfl without a turnover 👀

  68. Rod Munch Says:

Either the Bucs or Eagles will join the 49ers as the only undefeated teams in the NFC.

  69. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Really???? 🤔

  70. Bucs 95 Says:

If we win tmrw you could argue were legit contenders for the nfc and a top 5 team

  71. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Ummmmmmm…..I’m not jumping into the Baker Mayfield/ Legit contenders hype……… we’ve all seen Mayfield implode throughout the years…….

…..Mayfield will have to prove he ain’t no fluke tomorrow night……just saying 🫡

  72. IrishTony Says:

The Bucs are as good as anyone in the BFC with the exception of the 49ers who always fail in NFC championship game. Bank on this folks

  73. IrishTony Says:

    @ Bucs95
Spot on! Boy finally someone with insight!

  74. IrishTony Says:

    @ModhairKen
Man you’re my kind of fan! I don’t give a crap who we play especially the wank Eagles. I got migraines in the late 90s watching us lose to those wanks until we got redemption. Tell me we can’t beat them! I’m feeling it! Just gotta find a place to watch the game up here in North Kackalacky!

  75. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Most Americans don’t know what a Wanker is 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  76. orlbucfan Says:

Watched Jax get beat and kept wondering about their QB and OC. They would have made a game out of it if both had gotten on the same page. Jax would have scored a boatload of points if they had played options between their QB and RB/WR. Loved watching the Fish crush Sean Payton’s team. So, both Atlanta and Aints lost today. Whew man, you can bet Bucs were paying attention. Just made tomorrow nite more interesting. Go Bucs, FWIW!!

  77. Mike S Says:

Anthem – a wanker is someone who wanks

  78. Crack3rK Says:

Joe, did you mean America’s Quarteback?

  79. D Cone Says:

Downside to QB2 not getting reps with the 1’s. If QB1 goes down production stops. Defense shut Packers out for an half snd Offense left them hanging out to dry. Upside for Saints is Kamara will be back in practice this week and Both him and Winston will be ready for Week 4. Who do they Play?

Lions made the Falcons look like a team in the weakest division in the NFC as many of the Pundits were predicting. We got them week 6.

Jordan Love paid attention to Rodgers and just missed a couple nice throws. Teams playing them in December better be ready.

Colts beat the Ravens and Texans pounded the Jags. Both are on the dance card too.

I’m not about to go pissing in my pants because what other teams did. Philly is and should be the only concern.

  80. SB Says:

The Bucs head to New Orleans next week. Joe is sooo hoping it’s Jameis at the command.

Why would you want “America’s Quarterback” starting against us Joe?

  81. orlbucfan Says:

Jax made Texans look good cos their QB and OC did not get on the same page mentally. Their running game crushed the crap outta the Texans. I’m still snorting over Sean Payton getting his butt kicked by the Fish. The Bucs defense would have bottled up some of that running away game. Pack snuck up on the Aints and beat them, Jameis or no Jameis. Bucs still have a tough one tomorrow night but the next one in NOLA…snort!

  82. orlbucfan Says:

Barfo, I rarely watch SNF cos I hate Cris Collingsworth!! I have sound off. UGH!

  83. mark2001 Says:

Why hate Jameis? He just doesn’t have what it takes to be a franchise QB. Probably does the best he can. We just wasted years with him at the helm. But then Mariota turned out to be basically the same, so we weren’t the only one to be snowed that year.

  84. RGA Says:

I’d rather face Carr then Winston.

  85. David Says:

The Bucs OL will have no chance against Eagles DL. Baker is the worst qb under pressure for the past few years. The honeymoon for Baker and Toilet Bowl will come to end tomorrow.

  86. adam from ny Says:

    jaboo to the rescoo

  87. garro Says:

Umm…Lets worry more about controlling our own destiny! You never know what the season holds. One game at a time is not a cliche for coaches. Almost every season holds at least one game early in the season that seemed to be relatively unimportant at the time that turned out to be a key to the season. Good and bad.

This team is too young to be counting any game as a win.

    Go Bucs!

  88. Mike C Says:

David, like fantastic passing stats for Baker under pressure THIS YEAR, your stats are old, Bucs OWN Philly, hurts is OVER RATED!

  89. Obvious Says:

I’m confused about why so many “Bucs Fans” not only betting against (us?) but seem to be LOOKING FORWARD to (us?) losing…. WTF?
I’m with Mod Hair on this one! WTF are YOU PEOPLE talking about? I guess for ANYBODY to understand WHY you feel that way “WITHOUT BEING A TROLL” then maybe lay out “WHY”!

OTHERWISE YOU’RE A TROLL AND AREN’T TO BE COUNTED AS A BUCCANEERS FAN….

People AREN’T getting where you’re coming from and don’t read minds. There are obvious TROLLS and then there are people whom I’ve always known as die hard fans. Right Now, Looks like I lost my crystal ball to read minds with and as far as some of you beings ACTUAL FANS, not so sure about that….

  90. jstokes84@yahoo.com Says:

Why are we Worried about Winston still? He’s not on this team and he still have fans keeping up with whatever he does. For the record he didn’t cost the Saints the game or the lead. It was just like here in Tampa a few times when the team blows a double digit lead and lose. Lets focus on the Eagles and get the W. The eagles have regressed with the losses of their OC and DC from last year. Still a good team but we have to be able to take advantage since its early in the season before they hit mid season form. We have the chance to take the lead in the NFC South with a Win.

  91. Mn diehard saints girl Says:

@ Bucs13 who hasn’t beat the Vikings ?? 🤣 Minnesota born and raised Saints fan
