Ross Tucker On The Bucs: “They’re Actually Pretty Good”

Former NFL offensive lineman Ross Tucker raised his hand on his recent podcast and confessed.
Tucker thought prior to the regular season the Bucs had a better shot at star USC quarterback Caleb Williams than they did a playoff berth. But two weeks into the season, Tucker has seen enough.
“They’re actually pretty good,” Tucker said of the Bucs on his podcast.
Tucker is from the outskirts of the Philadelphia metro area near Reading. So while his podcast deals generally with the NFL, he does have on several Philadelphia-based NFL folks.
That means his podcast occasionally turns into E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!
If Tucker is not working on the road for CBS, he’s often Twittering photos of the media dining room spread from the House that Rondé Barber Built. Tucker, though he played for Washington and had a cup of coffee with the Cowboys, is close to the Eagles and has worked on their radio network.
Still, Tucker is one of Joe’s favorite NFL podcasters. He has strong NFL content on his family of pods. He had a very brief overview of the Bucs yesterday.
“I thought they were going to be one of the five worst teams in the NFL,” said Tucker, who was a teammate of Kyle Brandt’s at Princeton. “I was evidently wrong about them.”
What does Tucker think is the secret to the Bucs’ success? One big reason, Tucker said, is the quarterback.
“Baker Mayfield is playing as well as maybe he ever has,” Tucker said.
Tucker also said the Bucs’ offensive line is playing a whole lot better than what they showed in preseason, though he believes the Eagles’ defensive line can do damage to the right side of the Bucs’ line.
And Tucker, like others, admitted he overlooked that a lot of dudes who helped stomp out Pat Mahomes in the Super Bowl in February 2021 are still starters in Tampa.
“Those guys have played very, very well,” Tucker said of the defense. Because of the stout Bucs defense, Tucker said, “Making this is a much harder game for the Eagles than I think we anticipated.”
“I thought they were going to be one of the five worst teams in the NFL…they’re actually pretty good.”

I love how the goal posts move with hypocritical DB’s like voice of truth. I swear jersey wearing, beer gut man children at football games will always be number one in the hierarchy of the most insufferable people to debate with. Higher than political pundits on CNN or Fox News. Atleast on fox or cnn you have well learned, educated people presenting generally cogent arguments even though people in general will always be self serving with identity politics and hidden agendas.
The Bucs, by all accounts were viewed as not only bad before the season, but the potential to be truly awful vying for the number one pick. Two games in to the season, people like voice of truth are molding narrative in to:” but the Bucs beat bad teams.” So now people change their expectation and stance so that if they lose to the eagles it somehow still validates them. It is always a losing battle, it’s never ending. You will never win. It’s not even fun, and it’s the same stupid brain dead debates year over year

Monday night is going to be all about the run game. We will have to use the Eagles playbook and have long drives running the ball. Eat a lot of clock and yards, when we need the pass, it will be there (thus far the Eagles have shown to be vulnerable in the air).
The Eagles love to run the ball, Devin White can show his worth Monday (Money) night by plugging the hole and getting the defense off the field.

I hardly think that you can call the Vikings a “bottom of the rung” team after they finished 13-4 last year and put up 400 yards against the Eagles. Get real Voice.

It really didn’t take that much of a deep dive to see how this team could be competitive and not a bottom 5 dumpster fire.
The defense had many key returning components from what had been an elite D when we had a pass rush; which was the main upgrade of the offseason between the draft and return of Shaq.
We were likely to have a bad offense early but we were a bad offense last year.
I thought it would take longer though for the offense to find a rhythm – like maybe after the bye or something lol but it was like midway through the 2nd quarter of the 1st game.

Convenient excuses. Oh, I forgot that there are two All-Pro caliber receivers in Evans and Godwin as well as a potential All-Pro left tackle in Wirfs… oh yeah, and the very best parts of one of the top defenses of 2020 and 2021. This D is as good personnel-wise, or better, than our 2020 unit… but this team will only win three games. As I’ve said before, If Mayfield is AVERAGE this team wins 10 games. There is too much talent all over this roster for the team to collapse.

The Vikings ost to the eagles the same way they lost to the bucs. Turnovers.
The eagles look beatable. If the Vikings don’t turn the ball over 7 times (I think) in 2 games they are 2-0. I think Tampa can give philly fits as long as they contain devante smith.

Last season we lost games to some really bad teams. That hasn’t happened yet this year. That’s progress. Keep that in mind. The Bucs are not going to win every game, but it’s already obvious that this team without Brady is better than the 2022 team with Brady. I believe the Bucs will win more than eight games with Mayfield or Trask at QB, simply because we have a better team now. That includes coaches and with respect to players health and experience. This team is better prepared. Don’t get too high with the wins and too low with the losses. We can win the division with these guys. Nobody expected the Bucs to be competitive. They were all wrong. The Bucs are fun to watch. Appreciate that. We had a few decades where being a Buccaneer fan was pure agony. That is NOT the case now. For all of us that have been here since the beginning, enjoy.

Philly almost lost both games. Compared to Minnesota and Patriots …
1. Bucs have better WR corp (JJ is awesome but we have 3x legit WR)
2. Bucs have better pass protection (0 sacks, 1 QB hit last game)
3. Bucs have home field
4. Bucs have a multi-dimensional pass rush
5. Bucs have Jake Camarda
What most people don’t know is, the Bucs have secret weapons. Canales hasn’t opened the playbook up and CK hasn’t played.
I like our chances. 50-50 game.

I gotta say It’s Refreshing to be relevant. I’m Sick and Tired of the past and nickel and dime cheap shot artists, pundits, and plain nay sayers, that truthfully whos negative outlook we DESERVED…
Constantly throwing us under the bus, year after year… and some half arsed Coach or GM or another, or how about this… “the owners” DOOMING us to a place deemed and titled “appropriately mind you” by this site (JBF), by some anonymous Joe dude whom may or may not still be with the company, and yet appropriately christened our Teams home base as the “Den of Depression”. And I gotta tell you that if you would have told me that we would almost “unanimously” agreed that Baker Mayfield was indeed the right choice, let’s say I might not have whole heartedly agreed with that less than 2 weeks ago BUT it’s Clear Now that indeed he was the best choice because what NONE OF US COULD HAVE KNOWN is that HE HIMSELF (Mayfield), MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE and is SHINNING BRIGHTLY and I’m now PROUD to call him My QB.
