Jamel Dean And The Pro Bowl

September 1st, 2023

Bucs CB Jamel Dean.

So who with the Bucs could make their first Pro Bowl this fall? An NFL.com scribe believes he has the answer.

Kevin Patra was given the task of naming a player on each NFL team that could make his first Pro Bowl. He looked to the secondary but choose Carlton Davis. Despite Dean often going toe-to-toe with an opponent’s No. 1 receiver Patra thinks Jamel Dean will play in the… … whatever the hell they play in the Pro Bowl these days.

The Bucs made it a priority to keep Dean in Tampa for good reason. His star continues to ascend on the back end of Todd Bowles’ defense. He allowed a 75.1 passer rating when targeted last season, 13th-lowest among corners (min. 60 targets). Also, Dean isn’t afraid to mix it up against the run. He’s one of the surest tacklers from the CB position in the entire NFL. The 26-year-old remains underrated nationally but sports the traits to make a splash if he forces a few more turnovers in 2023.

“This Joe” was one of the few screaming for the Bucs to re-sign Dean. It just made no sense to let a good young corner walk for no good reason.

Of course, Joe is happy Dean is back. And who knows, if the Bucs defense plays as well as Joe thinks it can, Dean making a Pro Bowl wouldn’t be a shock.

Dean has been excellent since the last half of 2019. Those that disagree, don’t matter. Their opinions are worthless. Dean is an absolute stud.

  2. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

He won’t go to the Pro Bowl for x number of PDs. CARCH THE BALL (i.e. ints)

  3. Hodad Says:

Like Davis, Dean needs take aways. You don’t make pro bowls as a DB if you don’t get picks, that simple.

  4. Beej Says:

That guy from Dallas who had 11 pics a couple years ago, he did make the pro bowl. But in general he wasn’t a very good corner

  5. Beej Says:

Flying a 3-point shooter who makes 35 points a game, which is what everyone notices, but his shooting percentages like 27%

  6. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Dean will make the Pro Bowl, Rachaad White will lead the league in interviews.

  7. Mark Says:

Dean got benched for the Dallas playoff game but then turned around and got paid. Now he’s a pro bowler. Never seen a guy improve his standing so much without playing a single snap.

  8. go dawgs Says:

haha^^ i think rashaad white already leads the league in interviews…. Hes almost as thirsty for media as JJ Watt.

  9. Austin C Lewis Says:

Would you rather him lock down recievers to win games, or get burnt like the guy in dallas and get picks for a pro bowl

Uhhhhh..what? (Said in the voice of Butthead) Choose Carlton Davis? Dean was chosen right? Doesn’t Davis go toe to toe with an opponents No. 1 receiver?

Good corner but till he keeps his mitts on some balls no Pro Bowl.
Pro Bowl is a joke because of the voting. All Pro is becoming almost as bad.

    Go Bucs!
