First Bucs Injury Report Released

Injured Anthony Nelson.
After many months of teams not having to produce an official injury report, every club playing on Sunday had to issue one today.
The Bucs’ report was light but it did include a surprise. OLB/edge rusher Anthony Nelson (5 1/2 sacks) landed on the report with a hamstring injury. He was limited in practice. That was the first Joe had heard of Nelson being hurt.
Starting safety Antoine Winfield Jr. (calf) was full-go at practice but on the injury list. He was injured three weeks ago practicing against the Jets in New Jersey. Backup safety Safety Kaevon Merriweather was limited with a quad.
Rookie defensive tackle Calijah Kancey was out of practice with the bad calf that’s kept him from practicing for over a month.

Sounds like Kancey won’t be ready for Minn. What a disappointment, the guy is way behind and is clearly not getting much better.

So many over-reactions on Kancey being “so far behind”. This is not his first time playing football and most rookies depend on their athleticism anyway as a rookie. They develop the NFL smarts after year 1 by learning the tricks of the trade. But, Kancey, from what we’ve been told, likes to understand the OL blocking schemes and responsibilities of players other than himself. So, I’m gonna give the kid the benefit of the doubt. He won’t come out with a bang, but I’m sure the Bucs want him 100% healthy so he can at least use his athleticism.
