Fight Day At Bucs-Jets Scrimmage

August 16th, 2023

Goes after Jets linebacker.

Fights are breaking out all over the place at the Bucs-Jets scrimmage this morning in the Garden State.

So the Jets didn’t want to practice against the Bucs for two straight days. So they got all the fighting out of their system this morning.

Joe is up in New Jersey witnessing the mayhem first-hand. The Jets instigated the first two fights that began early in practice. The first two fights came with the Jets’ No. 1 offense vs. the Bucs’ No. 1 defense.

The first fight erupted after the Bucs snuffed out a run to the left. The second fight happened three snaps later when, after a three-yard run, Carlton Davis was involved.

Shortly after the second fight, Rachaad White decided to get physical as he popped the helmet off Jets safety Tony Adams on a run.

When the Bucs’ first-team offense faced the Jets’ first-team defense, a hassle broke out with Luke Goedeke among the last to leave the pile. Baseball-style brawl for a good 30 seconds.

Moments later, Mike Evans went after Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson. Evans was so heated that Tristian Wirfs had to intervene and pull him back.

Moments later, Nick Leverett was throwing haymaker punches at Jets defensive lineman Will McDonald IV.

Joe doesn’t know if the teams will call off practice soon the way this has turned into an old-style hockey game.

Joe will have an update live from New Jersey at around 12:45 p.m. or so.

Jets must be acting like they are something special, when in reality they’ve done squat. Have a winning season before you act like your anything but a losing franchise. Way to shove it back in their faces Bucs.

  2. Voice of Truth Says:

Wow, that’s not getting work done, that is wasting time

  3. Mike Alstott Jr. Says:

This is not a good look guys, so much for valuable reps.

  4. Hodad Says:

So much for getting good quality work out of these joint practices. Players can’t act like that during a real game that’s why a series with the starters in a preseason game is better work.

  5. Bucs Fan From Philly Says:

I love it. Hopefully Saturday’s game will be entertaining since I have tickets.

  6. RagingBrisket Says:

Watching Hard Knocks last night it seems this team is undisciplined and their HC Saleh is tacitly or outright condoning the fighting. This team thinks they have arrived with the presence of Aaron Rodgers. They back out of the second practice and sabotage the first with instigating fights. What a waste of time and resources. Eff these aasholes.

  7. SimeonForHOF Says:

Eventful 1 day practice in NY .. Seems Jets think they are KC or something

  8. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

This might actually give me an extra reason to watch the game…fighting is okay be me so long as no one is injured and it doesn’t cost games or suspensions.

  9. Joseph C Simmons Says:

Robert Saleh called out his team’s lines in a press conference with an obscenity laced tirade yesterday. Basically said that no matter who they’ve sign, it won’t matter if their trench warriors keep playing like that have been.

I’m guessing the Jets are very chipper right now.

  10. Hunter Says:

Well that’s one way to end up on Hard Knocks lol

  11. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Bowles said he prefers the controlled scrimmage to the preseason games. Wonder what he got out of this scrimmage?

  12. BucU Says:

You mean other than losing Gage for the year? This whole Jets scrimmage was a disaster.

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

NY DA may charge multiple Bucs with assault.

  14. DoooshLaRue Says:

Please tell me again about how much ME13 has matured…..

  15. NJbucs23 Says:

Get some of our good fruits and veggies. NJ proud 👊

  16. The Beer Whisperer Says:

“Went to a football scrimmage, and a hockey game broke out”

  17. D Cone Says:

Hey Jets. Just cut down to your 52 man roster and get the others 38 back to the Jails and Prisons. What made you think work release would work out?

  18. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Let em’ get it out of their system.

I remember when I had lots of testosterones, too.

  19. Who Says Says Can't Say Says:

This is awesome, the Jets did them a bad turn canceling one of the days, and they sound like bullies. Glad the Bucs showed some nasty back.

And Mike Evans is a badass, he seems like a good guy but he will haul you to the woodshed if you deserve it.

  20. Infomeplease Says:

The producers of Hard Knocks probably instigated this mess. Good for their ratings ! F them !!!!

  21. Fred McNeil Says:

It’s common to have a fight or two…or even three at these joint practices, but this sounds pathetic. Maybe they should all just smoke a big joint instead.

  22. Lakeland Steve Says:

Hopefully Evans gets it out of his system and it doesn’t happen during the season. The Refs will be looking to make him an example out of him for anything resembling a fight after last year.

  23. David Says:

    Awesome.
Can’t wait to see some footage

  24. Nybuccguy Says:

The Jets are showing off for the Hard Knocks cameras

  25. HC Grover Says:

This practice plan is a disaster. It was billed as wonderful, turned in to Caca de Toro. Just like the upcoming season will with The Bowles Curse.

  26. firethecannons Says:

wow that should make great clip for hard knox

  27. garro Says:

    Joe
That is the best news of the entire off season.
For a team that played with no fire and very little physicality last season this is music to my ears.

Just hope the fists don’t fly in games. Love the extra pushing and shoving though.

    Go Bucs!
