Alvin Kamara Suspended; First Game Back Plays Bucs

August 4th, 2023

It’s a Bucs life.

Thank you, Roger Goodell.

At this very hour, famed JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman is in Canton, Ohio as part of the ceremonies for Rondé Barber’s induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

There, Ira expects to run into NFL shot-caller Goodell, who is sort of tight with Ira. In fact, Ira told Joe he indeed expects to chat privately with Goodell this weekend. This is the kind of elbows you rub against in Ira’s world.

Joe really hopes Ira gives Goodell the what-for when he chats with him. Because Goodell just dropped a turd on the Bucs today.

Alvin Kamara, star running back for the slimy Saints, was suspended by Goodell for his part in a hassle in Las Vegas in January during Pro Bowl Week of 2022. So Goodell and the NFL announced today that Kamara will serve a three-game suspension to start the season.

Guess who the slimy Saints play in Week 4 at home? Yup, the Bucs.

Thanks, Goodell!

So the Bucs not only will have to prepare for Derek Carr, they’ll have to prepare for a rested, fresh and likely healthy Kamara.

Joe needs a Bromosa!

not worried about Kamara, worried about the guy that just signed a two year extension and Luke protected the QB

  2. Lokog Says:

Just go after they’re knees like they did godwin that will slow them down or just hit them hard everytime and they melt like butter

  3. Da Bucs Guy Says:

Good. The loss for the Bucs will mean a higher draft pick.

  4. A Bucs Fan Says:

    Kamara is on the decline.

  6. Buddha Says:

What an injustice. NFL players get suspended for an entire season for wagering on football games and Kamara gets three games for practically killing a woman, punching her and sending her to the hospital. Really good for the NFL’s image.

  7. Pewter Power Says:

Are we to expect an appeal? Sometimes these guys play until it plays out then go on suspension.

  8. PSL Bob Says:

Not worried about our defense handling their offensive playmakers. My concern is how our offense will fare against their defense, particularly their defensive line.

  9. A Bucs Fan Says:

@Pewter Power – I don’t think there will be an appeal on this one. Kamara met with Goodell in New York on Wednesday to give his side of things before the suspension was handed down. If anything he got it halved by meeting with Goodell already.

It’s a shame because regardless of what he told Goodell based on the video evidence alone the nfl should have suspended him for life for what he did to send a message.

  10. TB2023 Says:

Kamara has never been a problem for us.

  11. Lowest Common Denominator Says:

If you’re so confident that this team doesn’t suck why would yo be worried about Kamara?

  12. Buddha Says:

Thanks for the correction. Facts matter.

  13. Jimmy Says:

Thanks for reminding me of Chris Conte.

  14. Joe Says:

So you gonna just skip over fact they added Jamal Williams and Kendre Miller to their backfield this offseason?

Last Joe checked — but he could be wrong — neither of those two were suspended and won’t be playing the Bucs fresh and rested.

  15. Delusional Intelligence Says:

    Damn, at insult to injury.

Did you really need to use a photo with Chris Conte in it?

  16. Delusional Intelligence Says:

    *add insult

  17. Infomeplease Says:

This is a “what have you done lately league”! Kamara, not so much. Besides, it’s about time all these defensive tackle and outside linebacker draft picks start earning their paychecks!

  18. James in Memphis Says:

    So…..

  19. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

That’s ok, we have Devin White to take care of him….lol!

  20. Red86 Says:

The issue I have with this suspension is that it should’ve happened last year. But, his injury was basically reaping what he’d sowed last year. Also, Ray Rice was out of the league for his action at an elevator. His fiancé wasn’t anywhere near as bad as the guy Kamara and friends stumped on. The guy could’ve died from that encounter over not wanting him in the elevator. Both shouldn’t put hands on someone like that unless it’s a self defense life on the line issue.

  21. adam from ny Says:

he didn’t look too impressive most of last year…

    he dropped off a notch…

if he has a crappy season, whispers of being washed will def begin to surface for him

  22. Fred McNeil Says:

The only part that worries me is we’re coming off a Monday Night game against Phillie.

  23. Cobraboy Says:

    So what?

IMO, he’s on a downward trajectory.

And he was at his best with Peyton & Brees.

  24. Pops Malone Says:

Cheers Joe! I am having a beer with you up here in Chicago!

  25. Bucsmarley Says:

Much bigger things to worry about than Kamara lol

  26. firethecannons Says:

Lol Kamara is far from being our problem. If we cannot handle Kamara, we are our problem. He is nothing to get worried over or even honestly write an article over. Kamara has never had our number. Many other players do but not him.

  27. Brandonbucc Says:

    Kamara is garbage.

  28. FIRETHECANNONS Says:

That photo about perfectly depicts Conte’s career here in Tampa.

  29. kgh4life Says:

Why is everybody so worried about Kamara? The Bucs usually keep him in check. It’s the Bucs oline and QB we should be worried about.

  30. kyle Says:

so you gamble on a non football game in the facility and get 6 games?? this ass clown and his possy beats a guy down to almost death in vegas and gets 3 games? love the hood style nfl

  31. kyle Says:

    F>>k the saints

  32. SOEbuc Says:

That picture is from the terrific digital jersey days. Ugliest jersey all time and a record that shows it.

  33. BucsFan81 Says:

Doesn’t really matter. Everyone knows when it’s Bucs vs Saints the fights are more interesting than the game. Can’t wait to see the next round of Evans knocking Lattimore out.

  34. Jerry Says:

Kamara is rarely the problem when we play that team.

  35. Greg Says:

Three games? That’s disgusting. He got fined 105K by the judge with 500 hours of community service. He restructured his contract to “help out the team” and reduced his game salary to 60k which means he lost only 285K more or less. Not chump change but he’s making 15 million a year.

Mother of God I hate the Saints and the league office is not far off. Gross.

  36. garro Says:

Wouldn’t want it any other way Joe.
No excuses when we put a whoopin on em.

    Go Bucs!

  37. bucnjim Says:

Was supposed to be six games! I wonder how he weaseled his way out of that? Just the video of the incident should have been at least that many games maybe more. Like a previous poster said if you’re going to give someone who gambled more games then a player guilty of more than one acts of violence then something is wrong with your system.

  38. bucsince79 aka bumanner Says:

Classic Pic Joe!! Alvin is close to his end, however he will be fresh in game 4..
    More worried bout that D…

  39. Voice of Truth Says:

Alvin is at the age RB start slowing a half step and piling up injuries. May not hurt in this game but his run is about done IMO

I see it more as him not getting in the flow of a game yet and we are 4 games in with time to adjust to their Grudenized approach – rough him up early and smother him in coverage

Gruden’s consulting with Carr there and Dennis Allen as HC is some kinda strange set up – but we all know what kind of offense is coming in NO now

  40. RustyRhinos Says:

Hit him like he hit the man wanting to ride the same elevator. Again and again and again. If he is on the ground hit him again.

  41. Mike Johnson Says:

Kamara’s 1st game back will probably be a field day against our Bucs.

  42. Bobby Says:

It’s disgusting and rigged that Goodell and NFL even allowed Kamara to play all last season with no suspension and then to only punish Kamara after his disgusting and disgraceful behavior with a 3 game suspension. That is some blatantly dirty and unfair decision by Goodell. So many other NFL players have done far less and received much larger suspensions. The NFL is playing favorites with the Saints this season.

  43. Bobby Says:

Goodell and the NFL should be careful because one of theses days there going to give out one these blatantly weak punishments to the a player and it’s going to blow up in there face and create another PR nightmare dramatically hurt there bottom line with there fans and viewers. Be careful NFL

  44. Matlok727 Says:

Well we do want them at full strength for when we beat them they have no excuse
