Tom Brady Still In Contact With Bucs

July 25th, 2023

“Jason, you’re nuts for drafting that guy!”

No, don’t think that. Unless something wild happens, Joe will bet a lot of bread the starting quarterback for your Buccaneers, baby, is currently at One Buc Palace today as veterans reported for training camp.

But Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht acknowledged the greatest quarterback who ever lived, who delivered a Super Bowl to the Bucs in 2020, Tom Brady, still keeps in contact with Licht as well as several Bucs players.

Yes, Brady may be gone but he still cares about the Bucs, Licht said.

Licht made a rare July appearance before the local pen and mic club today and looked refreshed and chipper. Asked about life after Brady, Licht offered up that Brady stays in contact.

“I know he still keeps in touch with a lot of players,” Licht said. “I kept in touch with him — still do.”

Licht divulged that this offseason trying to move past the Brady Era with the Bucs and the tight salary cap was a “challenge” for his staff.

This is giving Joe fun thoughts:

* The next time Brady texts Licht or one of his former Bucs teammates still on the roster, do they wonder if Irina Shayk happens to be looking over his shoulder reading the texts from a sunny, private enclave in Barbados?

* If God forbid, something happened to Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask early in the season, would Brady get the urge to return to help out his old teammates?

Given the myriad of questions about the Bucs’ offensive line, Joe sort of thinks the line would be cold water on any Brady hot flashes about playing for the Bucs again.

If either of those things happen would he reassign his ownership of the LasVegas raiders?

That would be a very interesting question.

Joe still maintains if he was Clark Hunt, no way he lets Brady into his facility to watch practices and interview coaches and players for regularly-scheduled FOX production meetings.

    Unless Brady is dating Gracie.

    Ring #8

I think that later in the season the Bucs will announce that Brady is going into the ROH during one of the final games. My thinking is that they don’t want to step on the Pat’s inducing him and having both be the story at the same time.

Hopefully not providing crypto investment advice

  6. Buc50 Says:

Brady is getting jingle bells rung. He doesn’t have time for football.

  7. johnnymoon Says:

I thought Brady being Part Owner of the Raiders kept him from being able to play for obvious reasons.

  8. Bucsfan13 Says:

Lol Joe. God bless, Tommy. Upgraded to a younger model

  9. Zoocomics Says:

I know we think Tom can do anything because he’s the GOAT, but in this whatever hypothetically situation where Tom is interested in playing again, I believe he wants no part of this Canales offensive scheme. It doesn’t fit his strengths. I came to this conclusion after throwing a lot of shade at Leftwich after last seasons’ Bengals game, where we dominated the first half with utilizing pre-snap motion in our offensive scheme, and then it disappeared for THE REST OF THE SEASON… I kept wondering why we went away from it, why were we last in pre-snap motion?… was this Leftwich’s fault? Everyone wants to point the finger at Byron, but I think it was Tom Brady. A lot of energy is expensed in game planning with motion, it requires timing and precision to be effective, and I think Tom Brady is a bit more old school and sees it as gimmicky tool, especially since he’s NEVER going to keep the ball and take off running. I think his basic philosophy is to focus on mismatches, having an outlet to dump off too and throwing to open receivers. Just my opinion.

If Baker AND Trask both went down with season ending injuries, and Brady was of a mind to come back, I’m pretty sure the league would bend over backwards to figure out how to make that happen. The TV revenue would be mind numbing

  11. Bobby Says:

Brady come back to the Bucs for one more season please!!! Get up off your couch, grab your gear, get into Training Camp. Let’s Go!!!

  12. BradyBucs Says:

I hope Irina convinces him to play. Imagine how reinvigorated he would be. Last year he was depressed embarrassed over everything that was happening to him.

  13. Divis Says:

Brady should have been part-owner of the Bucs.

  14. Oxycondomns Says:

brady in contact with licht to supply him with electrolytes tb line of products to help with winghouse hangovers

  15. Tap-Out Says:

^^^Tom did what they paid him to do …he gets nothing more! ….no one else who participated in the Super Bowl win got a piece of the team …why should he?

  16. Buc4evr Says:

Brady is dating a hot Russian spy, no way he ever plays in the NFL when he can be James Bond instead…. Lol.

  17. SlyPirate Says:

If the Bucs are winning the division
… and if the offensive line looks improved
… and if the running game is established
… and if our starter and backup go down

    TB12 could come back.
    Less than 1% chance.

  18. Duane Says:

Good to hear that the relationships are still solid, and they should be for what he did for the franchise. He isnt coming back. His body and internal clock are telling him to get rid of the ball in 2.2 seconds, and you cant run a successful offense that way. He knows it, we all know it, and that is why we are picking up the pieces this season. Not a fan of putting him in the ring of honor, but if there was one player any franchise can conceivably do it for, it would be The GOAT.

  19. TOMMY MORDUE Says:

NICE TO KNOW HE STILL CARES ABOUT US..BUT I’M STILL MIFFED ABOUT HIM BEING A MINORITY OWNER OF THE L.V.RAIDERS, WHY COULDN’T IT HAVE BEEN THE BUCCANEERS ? ARE THE GLAZERS THAT NIEVE TO NOT KEEP TOM BRADY’S NAME AS A BIG DEAL WITH THE TEAM ?..”TOM BRADY” DESERVES HIS NAME ON RAYMOND JAMES “BUCCANEERS RING OF HONOR” ASAP..HE DESERVES IT FOR TURNING AROUND A LOSING FRANCHISE & MAKING THEM 1ST YEAR CHAMPIONS, FOLLOWED BY 2 STRAIGHT DIVISION TITLES ( FOR THE 1ST TIME IN FRANCHISE HISTORY ) WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO DOUG WILLIAMS FOR HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS A BUCCANEER ( BUT A CHAMPION MVP WITH THE THEN WASHINGTON REDSKINS ) TOM BRADY & # 12 SHOULD BE RETIRED WITH THE G.O.A.T. ON OUR “RING OF HONOR”..THIS YEAR, NOT SOMETIME DOWN THE ROAD..NOW ! ! ! ! !

  20. Allbuccedup Says:

Why didn’t the Glazers offer him the same deal as the raiders?

  21. Pewter Power Says:

Yea Brady is waiting to see this offensive line in action. No way he would play with that same weak line and definitely won’t play if Jensen is not at full strength. I’m ready to move on though. They need his replacement and might not find him until next year. Brady comes back they’ll go deep into the playoffs

  22. kyle Says:

if i was brady, i would put as much effort in trying to get gracie hunt as i did in winning superbowls… just sayn..wow shes amazing…

  23. donuts Says:

We need to move on. Brady is chasing tail in NYC and has no interest in playing. If he did, his MO is to be gearing up and training at this time of year before camp.

  24. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I think that if Brady WERE NOT a partial owner of the Raiders, if the Bucs reach the halfway mark and have a winning record and our starting QB goes down, he would have considered coming back if he felt he could take us all the way.

    But…Raiders.

  25. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I should mention…Brady is not an owner of the Raiders yet.

  26. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I would take Brady back in a heartbeat. All of you saying time to move on…don’t know why you are anxious for the days of Chris Sims and Jameis Winston to come back.

If it meant another ring, I would take Tom back. There will be other drafts later…or we can trade up to get an heir.

  27. Bucsfan81 Says:

Brady is not coming back move on.

  28. Oneilbuc Says:

    Click Bait!!!!!

  29. Michael Says:

Maybe he is finally gonna share the spice melange with the bucs players .
    Lol

  30. Jeremy Says:

He is or “was” a great quarterback. I did not see much of that last season. Occasional flashes yes but there was a lot of weak throws too. Know one escapes father time

  31. garro Says:

Geez… As my dear mother used to say to me “Its time to move on.”

They are not going to change the entire playbook back to accommodate Brady and I doubt he could play effectively in this offense…period!

    Go Bucs!

  32. Wild Bill Says:

Brady coming back to play for the Bucs, or for any team, has got be ZERO. He doesn’t need the money. He played afraid of injury all last season. He looked pretty mundane playing NFL football at his age. Non mobile pocket quarterbacks are becoming obsolete. Nobody wants a qb who dunks and dinks the majority of the time because he hates to get hit (can’t blame him for that at his age). And last but not least it is sad to see a great player with a great legacy keep playing after his skills have declined. Luv ya Tom, have fun with that young hottie!

  33. Football House Divided Says:

Tom did what he was supposed to do, won a superbowl and got fans in the stands. Now the Bucs office is doing what they do and charging season ticket holders a year in advance for next season tickets (at the same price we paid to see Brady play). Hmmm….
