Tristan Wirfs Details His Summer Plans

June 16th, 2023

Tristan Wirfs

Exotic beaches, Iowa state parks, mass quantities of barbecue inhalation?

What does Tristan Wirfs plan to do with his summer vacation that starts today?

Wirfs had an easy answer, so he told WDAE radio this week.

The Buccaneers’ All-Pro right tackle, who has relocated to left tackle, plans to stay in Tampa so he can drive to One Buc Palace every day to train.

Man, Joe loves that Wirfs guy.

Wirfs emphasized that training camp is hard and he likes to be completely ready.

Joe wonders whether Wirfs is somewhat spooked by missing games in each of the past two seasons because of ankle injuries. Wirfs missed Weeks 13, 14 and 15 last season, and then was rested in the meaningless Week 18 game.

Regardless, what a tone Wirfs is setting. Joe hopes Wirfs is joined by rookie Cody Mauch, Wirfs’ fishing buddy (strongman Luke Goedeke) and others on the offensive line.

Wirfs is the consummate pro. And we’re very lucky to have him.

Wirfs was probably deferential to Donovan Smith in the past because he was a veteran. It’s awesome to see that Wirfs isn’t resting on his laurels and plans to set the tone on the offensive line for how to prepare for the upcoming season. If you are an offensive lineman on the Bucs and you see that the most talented guy on the line works his ass off you better follow suit if you have any chance to succeed. Wirfs will set the tone and give me hope that our offensive line could end up being a bright spot next season.

All coaches prefer effort players – immaterial when speaking about Wirfs, he is the total package

In his interview yesterday, Dean also said that he was going to come to the facility every day. Trask also said he was going to be working out with receivers during the break.
Seems like these guys have been hearing the “bottom of the division” rhetoric and are determined to prove the naysayers wrong. I can’t wait for training camp, preseason and the regular season to start.
Joe, can you go out and stand by the gate every day and tell us who’s at the facility?
