“I Believe I’m Going To Snag That”

June 21st, 2023

Bucs running back Rachaad White.

Budding YouTube star Rachaad White also is the Buccaneers’ No. 1 running back.

He loves being in the role, changed his number to “1” and is ready to fulfill his destiny.

White, speaking on his YouTube channel, said he wants to win first and foremost, but he also has a clear personal goal and thinks he will crush it this season.

The goal? White wants to be the first Bucs running back to bust 1,000 yards on the ground in a season since Doug “Molly Hamster” Martin back in 2015.

“Of course, at the end of the day, there hasn’t been a 1,000 yard rusher [with the] Buccaneers here in Tampa in eight years. So of course I’m trying to snag that and I believe I’m going to snag that, well over that,” White said.

White added he’s determined to be consistent and that a major lesson he learned from Tom Brady is daily improvement is always there for every player.

“I didn’t come this far for no reason,” White said, referring to his drive. “You can always learn more. You can always do more. I always keep that in my head. So that’s my biggest thing, man. That’s my inspiration. I’m trying to have that gold jacket. Real talk. Hanging up in my closet, it would be a hell of a story.”

Sean Tucker might have the same goals.

  2. PewterStiffArm Says:

Get a first down with your new offense first, then acknowledge that you will tear up the league. One step at a time, one foot in front of the other and one catch for several first downs before self edification. I want this kid to go crazy on the field but as of right now the press covering the NFL doesn’t think that this group of players amount to much but a few wins and a total rebuild next season. I have faith, so let the cannons fire and the negative press will fall off the plank.

Have to love anointing a guy #1 who has done nothing to earn it. Da’Quan Bowers talked a good game too, amounted to nothing.

  4. Buccos Says:

It’s good to have high goals. The old saying, “shoot for the moon and grab a star”

  5. Rand Says:

molly hamster? ..did you mean muscle hamsters

  6. SOEbuc Says:

White was a budding YouTube star last year, but anyone that knew anything was he was overrated. Like one, 105 yard game in Germany and four turnovers. Of course I hope the best for him and the Bucs, but Canalas will be using much more balanced run, and Ke’ Shawn Vaughn, a RB they have kept on the roster for a reason, will certainly get his reps.

Must have missed him talking about getting double digit sacks or wanting a gold jacket. Apparently the kid should have said I just want to be average but get the big pay check like Devin White.

Guess you suck at that life thing flboy

  8. J Ghotier Says:

Snag Swag White in the building y’all 🙌

  9. ATLBuc Says:

Flboy clearly didn’t watch Bucs games. On most plays, white was hit at or behind the line. So averaging 3.9 yards per carry was probably more like 5 yards per carry.

  10. sasquatch Says:

No kid should be talking about gold jackets. Prove something first. There’s only a couple of guys on this team that have any business even whispering HOF. One is Evans, the other is David. Lavonte probably doesn’t have a chance cuz he’s never been super high profile.

  12. J Says:

@FLBOY…you’re narrative holds no water. Barry Sanders would’ve stunk the place up in BL’s offense.

  13. Craig Says:

I hope all of his hopes and dreams come true.

I tried nine times to post the under “Sad Bucs”.

I will support any QB who breaths some life into the Bucs offense.

I believe Trask has more upside as the future of the team, but if Mayfly can break last season’s malaise let him do it.

A spark on offense will lift the defense and special teams to better play.

The Bucs were horrid last season for many reasons, the worst being that they play like zombies.

  14. View from 132 Says:

I like this kid. Not sure why Bucs “fans” on here hate him. He seems like a good dude and has every right to have lofty goals. You what else him getting 1000 yards means? The Bucs have a lead in the 4th quarter and can run the ball to close the game out. What a concept. Go get ’em No. 1.

  15. Aceofaerospace Says:

    Nope. He meant Molly hamster.

  16. FlBoy84 Says:

People misinterpreting the comment as hate on White, but that’s cool and not surprising considering some who post here. Hoping he has a great year, however do think he’s going to have a stiffer challenge from Vaughn and Tucker than some believe. Should be fun to watch. Have always preferred when players let their results and production do the talking though, especially unproven ones.

  17. Voice of Truth Says:

He’s okay, doesn’t look special but maybe a year of growth helps him

I don’t see him toting the rock 340 times this year, or 20 rushes a game, his frame isn’t going to tolerate that level of punishment

250-275 rushes for 1000-1100 yards seems about right – get him 40-50 catches also, 500 ish yards away from all those big bodies

  18. BucaneroJim Says:

    @Craig

Yeah, the Bucs last year played like slow zombies from The Night of the Living Dead with an occasional individual burst up to Train to Buscan zombie level… only, to drop back down in the red zone like the Black Pearl ghost pirates walking under the ocean.

But hey, another season ahead and sincerely hopeful for young White to run the Kung Fu Hustle style!

  19. Jeff’s grandpa Says:

Kids never met a microphone he doesn’t like

  20. Joe Says:

Flboy clearly didn’t watch Bucs games. On most plays, white was hit at or behind the line.

White’s problem wasn’t so much getting hit behind the line, though not optimal. His real problem was he couldn’t break a tackle or make a guy miss. He was one of the worst runners in the NFL for yards after contact.

It is still legal for running backs to break tackles or dodge dudes.

  21. A Bucs Fan Says:

Outside of one awesome stiff arm White showed that he didn’t know how to use his leverages or size very well to break tackles or make people miss in space. He does excel with his vision and setting up blocks but with poor offensive line play it sort of exposed these weaknesses in his game. Hopefully he focused on his strength this year because he has the skillset to be a top 8 back in the league. Maybe even higher if he truly improve his running after contact.

  22. Fred McNeil Says:

Muscle Hamster, or the Dougernaught, had two really excellent years for us.

  23. Fred McNeil Says:

White’s not bad. He’s just not great.

  24. SlyPirate Says:

    MOLLY HAMPSTER?

Whoa! So he and Freeman were into pill popping? Too bad.

“Muscle Hampster” was the best nickname ever. Still disappointed he hated that name. Could have made a killing had he leaned into it.

  25. Emo Says:

Who yall got for the super bowl this coming year
