No opinion. I don’t care one way or the other. The Bucs are going to do what they are going to do. We will see the the results around November if not sooner.
Mayfield is clearly better than Trask, IMO. And, also IMO, signing Mayfield is only a move to sell tickets. Mayfield is only good enough to get the Bucs to an 8-9 record and to a wildcard game, then loose it. Thus, the bucs stay in a bad draft position in ’24.
Licht drafted Trask using a #2 round pick – PLAY him. Its a win-win. If he succeeds, good job on Licht. If Trask fails, the Bucs will be in good draft position to take a real franchise QB in ’24
I don’t understand how this guy continues to get chances and we know that he’s not that good. Yet people say without a doubt he’s better than Trask (how the hell do we know that) I’m not a Trask fan boy but want to see the kid get a chance and would rather sign a cheap vet to compete like the QB from the Commanders Taylor H. He seems mobile enough and has a bit of attitude to his game. Baker had good WRs, TE and a 2 headed monster of a run game and still only has 1 playoff win to show for it. Smh
If Dave Canales can help Geno Smith turn his career around, he might be able to do the same with Baker Mayfield…I was thinking Jacoby Brissett and Drew Lock for that money, but we’ll see soon.
I’m usually the gloomiest, most miserably pessimistic wretch on this site.
Thanks to the deep, stanky Bowels of Toad.
Here’s a glimmer of hope, and there’s a truckload of Trashk slurpers who believe that his UF performance (with NFL receivers playing against car wash employees) is indicative that he’s the next Tom Brady. Try strychnine.
There is a lot to be miserable and whiny about. This isn’t one of those.
Goat, I applaud you for that laudable self-awareness! I often wondered why your glass was perpetually half empty. Granted, as far as the team goes with the last season you’ve had plenty of reasons to drink from the half empty glass. But I agree with you here. Honestly I wasn’t expecting anything like this if this in fact happens. At least the Jackson chatter has died down. Such an utterly inane thought experiment.

8-9 you say?
One and done in the playoffs?
What I hate is hearing how high Arians and Light are on a guy who is playing for his 4th team in two years. If they give him anything more than a modest one-year deal, then the competition was all a lie. Being our cap situation, I would think they have to give him a deal that is VERY friendly this year but has more money for him next year guaranteed. So much for Trask if that happens.

Only problem is prioritizing probably doesn’t coincide with value. Hope I’m wrong about that though.

Get ready to be talking draft before Halloween, just like old times.
March 13th, 2023 at 9:56 am
Well at least I know we have sealed our Doom for the year. There will be no surprises. WE WILL FIT WELL AMONST THE CELLAR DWELLERS.

Why not!!! I like it… Draft a QB too, obviously. Hooker early or Stetson Bennett later
March 13th, 2023 at 10:07 am
they will like it until week 5
March 13th, 2023 at 10:09 am
Hooker early Bennett when he sobers up.

So like Baker but hate Lamar Jackson?? Help me understand this!

no no no no…..god no please

If Trask can’t beat out Baker then we know we need to draft a 1st round QB next year. Works for me. Spend a later pick this year on the 3rd string QB.
March 13th, 2023 at 11:12 am
Prioritizing Baker Mayfield is prioritizing mediocrity

Bowles cleaner is going to use most of the draft to rebuild his defense, so losing some of them is probably part of his plan.
I would rather have a consistent QB that can move the chains than one who flashes, like Mayfield.
He reminds me too much of the line of QBs that populated the Lost Decade.

A 2-8 qb in 2022 going to a team that was 8-10 with tom brady that spells 4-13 2023 with baker mayfield 😔.
March 13th, 2023 at 11:53 am
Just do it and get it over with. Then we can move on to the next thing. To date, it seems every free agent QB has been somehow linked to the Bucs.
