Gisele Bündchen Claims She Did Not Order Tom Brady To Retire From Bucs

March 22nd, 2023

Don’t blame her.

While some folks believe the beginning of the end of the Tom Brady Era was when Cooper Kupp caught a bomb in the final seconds of a home loss to the Rams in the 2021 playoffs, others point to Brady’s then-wife, the supermodel Gisele Bündchen.

It is believed Bündchen gave Brady a direct edict that once the 2021 season was over, so was his career.

Like a deity who stayed in his grave for 40 days only to rise again, 40 days after announcing his retirement, Brady, the greatest quarterback who ever lived, rose from football death to return to Tampa Bay.

Many believe Brady’s head wasn’t fully in the game as it was later learned Brady and Bündchen would split, ending their fairy tale union.

In a sitdown with Michelle Ruiz for Vanity Fair, Bündchen calls that charge complete nonsense.

Yet the tabloids “made me somebody who is against football,” she said of the headlines. “Are you kidding me? I learned about it! I used to joke that I was going to be able to be the ref because I’ve watched so many games. And I loved it.” The winking conspiracy about Bündchen’s magical powers escalated when Brady divulged in 2019 that Bündchen built him pregame altars and gifted him special “healing stones.” She confirms that she drew homeopathic floral baths for Brady—“whenever he was going through difficult times, you know, he has a lot of intensity, to help him calm his nerves”—and gave him onyx, “a stone of protection,” and a statue of the Hindu deity Ganesha, the remover of obstacles.

When I ask Bündchen if there were stories written about their split that simply weren’t true, she flatly replies, “Everything.”

“Like, I would give up my dream because of…” Bündchen trails off.

“One more season?” I attempt to fill in.

“Wow, people really made it about that,” she says. …

“When you love someone, you don’t put them in a jail and say, ‘You have to live this life.’ You set them free to be who they are, and if you want to fly the same direction, then that’s amazing.”

It seems Bündchen wasn’t conning Ruiz. Bündchen claimed she and the children she bore with Brady remained hardcore Bucs fans right through to the bitter end. That end was the Bucs’ embarrassing loss to the Cowboys in the wild card round in January.

And she sounded just like a Bucs fan when she called out an element of the Bucs that fans habitually holler about.

“It was tough,” Bündchen said of the playoff loss ending the Brady Era. “But you know what? Let’s just be honest. It’s a team sport and you can’t play alone.

“I think he did great under the circumstances that he had. I mean, he had no offensive line.”

Some Bucs observers claim Brady’s focus was elsewhere last season. They point to his 10-day sabbatical in training camp where he reportedly went with Bündchen somewhere tropical as a last-ditch chance to save their marriage.

Joe thinks Brady was locked in, as always. Did he look distracted when he pulled off those late-game heroics and had the Bucs on the march against the Browns until the ball was pulled out of his hands?

So the moral of this story is, don’t blame Bündchen for the Bucs crumbling. At least, that is what Bündchen wants you to believe.

Also in the story, Bündchen claims the very first time she stepped foot in Tampa was when she and Brady moved to Derek Jeter’s compound.

  1. sasquatch Says:

I’ve seen so many people blast her, blame her for trying to hold back to GOAT from living his dream. It’s misogyny, pure and simple.

  2. YucsBall Says:

No, she just passive-aggressively antagonized, gaslighted, and nagged him to.

  3. tampabayallday Says:

Love misogyny, repeal the 19th yall.

  4. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

    Honestly, who cares ?
Brady is not our QB anymore.

  5. miken Says:

Bunchen is like , I didn’t want him to retire, I was having my fun with the Jiu-jizitu instructor.

  6. Joe Says:

    Honestly, who cares ?
Brady is not our QB anymore.

And the reason for that is… ?

  7. sasquatch Says:

    @YucBall,
What’s your evidence? We’re you hanging with the family and witnessed it? Or did you just buy all the remarks made by people like you?

  8. Mike C Says:

Sasquatch, misogyny? If Brady had a husband who was trying to get him off the field “What else do you have to prove!!!” I would have not been happy with him either….. just because she is a woman and someone says something bad about her does not auto equal Misogyny.

  9. Beej Says:

She is literally on video after the super bowl win extorting him to retire because now he’s done it all

  10. sasquatch Says:

Brady’s a big boy. He made his own decisions. He has a family and had a wife whose opinion was important to him. That’s his life. He makes his decisions, and I’m betting if you asked him, he wouldn’t blame her. So what’s with the blame? It’s like little boys complaining that their mommy won’t let them play. It’s bitterness towards women, this Gisele blaming. I have no opinion on her as a person because I know nothing of her, and I don’t care.

  11. Walter Says:

If Brady was distracted at all, it’s not Giselle‘s fault. I would put more blame on all the different media outlets that decided to turn a private decision into a public spectacle.

  12. sasquatch Says:

You guys are funny, defending this blaming nonsense. The lack of awareness is amusing.

  13. Thisisouryear!! Says:

After she whispered in his ear “is this finally enough after they won the Super Bowl” after they won the Super Bowl, I’m not sure I believe everything she’s saying. Lol.

  14. Dooley Says:

We’ll never really know, because it isn’t really any of our business tbh. There so many other factors to consider, but people were using the Brady divorce to fill in blanks of “why” Bradys’ play was spotty in 2022. Hope both the best, and hope they spare us from the media campaign that comes with book deals.

  15. Bojim Says:

    I believe her

  16. Mike C Says:

Ok sasquatch, where exactly did you receive your brainwashing from? All men are evil! Belive all women! Lol you are a joke.

  17. sasquatch Says:

    Mike C,

You have no funking clue what you’re talking about. I said nothing about “all men are evil”… That sounds like your projection, which means it’s actually you who are a joke… Nice goin’ Champ!

    #FunkingD0uchebag

  18. sasquatch Says:

    Mike C,

You have no ph0uecking clue what you’re talking about. I said nothing about “all men are evil”… That sounds like your projection, which means it’s actually you who are a joke… Nice goin’ Champ!

  19. sasquatch Says:

Bottom line is Brady is responsible for his decisions, regardless of who was whispering in his ear. Blaming the wife is an old-school, wife as a “ball and chain”, women-resenting pattern. It’s total BS.

  20. larrd Says:

    Yeah, yeah.

But did she take her shirt off?

  21. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

    “@YucBall,
    What’s your evidence?”

Here is one piece of evidence he was henpecked. What was the very first thing she said to him after the Bucs won the Super Bowl? She nagged about him quitting.

  22. YucsBall Says:

sasquatch is a true White Knight, Giselle isn’t going to sleep with you bro.

  23. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

It doesn’t really matter, does it?

  24. Goatfarmer Says:

    Load.of.absolute.rubbish

The Hag was on tv after SB55 saying “what more do you have to prove?” She couldn’t let him enjoy it without her haggish henpecking. She’s a hypocrite and an entitled biotch.

Good riddance to the Ghag, Tommy.

  25. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

She can say what she wants today. The years of nagging have already shown her cards. Women lie too, simps

  26. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

I mean it could be a self-serving story she’s putting out to not look bad. No way I believe she didn’t want him to retire. She had all kinds of stuff planned and was quoted as saying “now is my time”. Then TB12 did a fumblerooski and went back to the Bucs. Then suddenly he’s getting a divorce.

Regardless he probably lost his wife for one more year with a team that imploded after all the injuries and having the wrong head coach. Had he stayed retired they’re probably still together. My 3 cents anyway.

  27. Buc50 Says:

“What more do you have to prove?”

We all heard it on the Super Bowl broadcast. If that isn’t a request to retire, I don’t know what is.

  28. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Interesting quote from Giselle, ““I think he did great under the circumstances that he had. I mean, he had no offensive line.” I wonder if Brady thought this too?

  29. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

She is a good mom, supporting her kids love for their Dad, & cheering on the Bucs last season and being a great Mom to not talk crap about their Dad; but she definitely was telling him to make a decision whether directly or in a passive aggressive manner.

  30. SufferingSince76 Says:

She’s probably just doing damage control. She’s non-news without Brady.

  31. Go Bucs Says:

I don’t blame her. She is a celebrity too and she wants to do her stuff and be a mom but she needs help but Brady was busy being the GOAT which no one can blame him. I do think it effected Brady but I also think just the whole team situation did with him retiring to unretiring but finding out he wanted out to Miami I think that made some teammates lose trust in him a bit. All I know is I am great full for Brady coming to the BUCS and giving us hope and something to be proud of.

  32. Buc50 Says:

I have no issues with her telling him to retire. She’s within her rights and correctly stated he needed to spend more time with his kids. She shouldn’t deny it though

  33. HC Grover Says:

    Brady escaped The Bowles Curse.

  34. Architek Says:

The offensive line falls on the GM, personnel, and the HC.

IMO – it was reckless to depend on a rookie from a small school to protect a 45 year old QB, which happened to be the GOAT.

Not really the recipe for contending. Losing Jensen was the death blow.

  35. Cobraboy Says:

    Reputation rehab for a supermodel.

The fact is Brady finally ran low on young.

  36. sasquatch Says:

“What more do you have to prove?” sounds like a reasonable question to me. That’s not nagging. You neanderthals just wants yer wimmins to shut their mouths and not have an opinion on the family. That’s how families work dumbasses! It’s still Brady’s decision, and if you refer to that as “nagging”, you have issues with women and your wives are probably miserable.

  37. MadMax Says:

I think he caught wind of her cheating and said screw this, Im going back. But Im sure it messed with him. Then all the issues we had with O line injuries, rooks not doing so well…then of course dumbwich and bowels running things.

  38. MadMax Says:

So sas is a female….you had me fooled…nice

So sas is a female….you had me fooled…nice

It’s funny that defending family and objecting to derogations like “hag” or “nagger” would make me female in your book. Being a man doesn’t mean you have to be a d!ck.

  40. Marine Buc Says:

Tom Brady didn’t get divorced because he played football.

Tom Brady played football because he was getting divorced…

  41. MadMax Says:

Not saying anything about the defending part…thats your business. It just came across a certain way….sorry if i was wrong.

  42. J Ghotier Says:

I think AT BEST, you’re somewhat sub-consciously distracted by all that he had going on in Life and his situation. That’s major stuff and it would affect any of us to some degree that way. If not in more ways. So I don’t agree with the, I believe he was fully locked in quote here. Maybe not a lot, but still a definite distraction.

  43. EEK Says:

    AB really unraveled it all…

He melted down and then additional injuries destabilized the team which led to not beating Stafford and the Rams which led to Brady not retiring with a second Bucs SB which led to the wasted season and acceleration of the inevitable divorce with Gisele

    Life happens

If we want to blame anyone, let’s blame AB — he was great and then he burned everything to the ground

  44. Goatfarmer Says:

sasquatch! Wow. Do you take Midol for those specific “aches and pains?”

  45. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

“you have issues with women and your wives are probably miserable”

My wife would have congratulated me instead of making it about her first. That’s how families work, not the one sided you think happens.

  46. Alanbucsfan Says:

don’t blame Bündchen for the Bucs crumbling.
What Bundchen said- the OLine -plus injuries , inferior DLine and poor offensive game planning

  47. SufferingSince76 Says:

Y’all take it easy on Sasquatch. It’s that time of the month and he’s cranky. But we do salute him for being in touch with his feminine side.

  48. Derek Says:

Sooo why did she leave him then? Guess she really wants to be a strong and independent woman having her hot girl summer..

  49. Redeemer Says:

Their marriage was in trouble long before Brady unretired. I think it’s backwards. She told him it was over, so he said fine, Im playing. His first retirement was a last ditch effort to save the relationship. She wanted him to retire after Superbowl 53. That was 2019.

  50. BucsfanFred Says:

    Who cares?

  51. Dooley Says:

LMAO again there sure is alot of “I think” to fill in blanks to matters we aren’t privy to as football fans.

  52. Defense Rules Says:

AlabamaBucsFan … ‘Interesting quote from Giselle, ““I think he did great under the circumstances that he had. I mean, he had no offensive line.” I wonder if Brady thought this too?’

I can’t believe either that Joe & every one of the commenters passed on that ‘no offensive line’ dig. Your question is very appropriate Bama. My guess would be YES.

  53. Mike C Says:

Looks like most people see past your B.S. sas…

  54. Mike C Says:

And you didn’t say all “men are evil”, a good feminist bot would never say that out loud , I was just reading between the lines sorry.

  55. Infomeplease Says:

If she wanted TB12 to really quit the NFL, all she had to do was send the kids to a movie, put on something very skimpy, and pull TB12 into the bedroom!! You know like your wife does when she wants something special! t works about 95% of the time!!

  56. Dooley Says:

    @Mike C

You are really on here talking like you’ve either been divorced more than once, cheated on, or are a born again virgin or a little bit of all of them. You 100% sound like a boomer

  57. sasquatch Says:

The responses to my comments are boilerplate male insecurity. It’s funny.

  58. D-Rok Says:

My take-away from this article is that even Brady’s wife knew he had no offensive line. Or WAS it an offensive line? I dunno, but I digress.

Even Mrs. D-Rok could point out the blocking flaws/fails last year…

  59. BucaneroJim Says:

The goat and the scapegoat – who really knows what happens between a couple? Maybe she wanted him to retire on top after the Super Bowl, before the sinking pirate ship of 2022. Ganesh may have sent a vision.

Yeah, Sasquatch… she said he didn’t have an offensive line, but she has received plenty of offensive lines on this site and others. No reason to cast hate to his babe – it’s their business.

  60. ABucAway Says:

Pretty sure I see the jui jitsu instructors reflection in her eyes.

  61. Oxycondoms Says:

I remember on the field after superbowl win she said what else does he have left to prove. That was abuzz kill the way she said it i could tell it was an issue

  62. ABucAway Says:

Haha this was a great read. Seems Sasquatch can find misogyny under a rock if they wanted to. Much like BucBoy can find Kyle Trask in any article The Joe’s write. When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail, right fellas?

  63. Mike C Says:

Yep sas, ignore my valid points and throw out insults, good job!

  64. sasquatch Says:

Hahaha, valid points? Which ones? I don’t think I read even one actual point.

  65. Goatfarmer Says:

Well, I know that I for one believe that men shouldn’t be allowed to criticize rich, silver-spoon fed, highly entitled women. Men should only be allowed to criticize poor degenerate other men.

    Leave Geezy alone!

  66. LongSeason Says:

What I saw was a distracted Brady who missed open receivers despite having good pass blocking. I saw someone who was not in sync with his receivers. Brady to Evans was constantly on the fritz. Yeah. He still threw for a lot of yards, but Brady looked like a regular everyday Joe QB.

  67. Vancouver Buc Says:

‘I mean he had no offensive line’….BINGO!!!! She’s at least smarter that most of the so called experts saying it was TB12 who was the problem last season. Plus the Bozo of Bozos HC leading the Ship as it went down into the Abyss

  68. ScottyMack Says:

Sheesh. So many people who have opinions about a relationship they know nothing at all about. Sad. Many of you boys need to return to your daytime soap operas now that you don’t have Tom and Giselle speculation to titillate your days.

  69. optimisticbucfan Says:

    BRUTAL…he had no offensive line

    OUCH! Brutal.

  70. Mike C Says:

That if Brady had a HUSBAND that was tryingto stop him from playingfor the Bucs, I would not appreciate that either. Therefore it has NOTHING to do with misogyny…….

  71. sasquatch Says:

    You’re dumb.

  72. David Says:

I said that on day one. They didn’t suddenly get divorced because of one fight over retirement. That whole notion was ridiculous from the start.
There was obviously a lot behind the scenes building up. Anyone who is married or has been divorced knows this.
    It’s common sense

  73. LastDance Says:

Ill take Giselle’s football acumen over most of you neanderthal baby bois any day. Or her life, business, child-rearing… you name it acumen over all you neanderthal baby bois. And you think she’s a nag… HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! She has a life idiots. You are the ones on here nagging.

  74. Brazen Zebra Says:

Giselle who? So yesterday. How bout dem Shake & Bake Bucs! Go Baker! Go Bucs!

  75. Mike C Says:

    Good one sas

  76. VATom Says:

One true bit about life is that you can never know what is going on in someone elses house. Even if they tell you. That is their perception. Another true bit is even most regular “couples” have problems once you really get to know them.
