Nick Leverett “Doubtful”

January 14th, 2023

Injury and status updates.

The Bucs released their final injury report this afternoon. As head coach Todd Bowles said, no Bucs player is ruled out.

However, Bucs starting left guard and backup center Nick Leverett is listed as doubtful. So too is tight end Kyle Rudolph.

This could be very troublesome if Leverett cannot go. The reason for that is that Robert Hainsey is listed as questionable. He messed up a hamstring in the final game of the season last week at Atlanta.

If Hainsey and Leverett cannot go (Pro Bowl center Ryan Jensen is not yet activated), that basically leaves the center job to a fourth-string guy.

Also factor in if Leverett isn’t available, a backup left guard (likely Luke Goedeke) will start.

Using two backups to protect the interior facing Micah Parsons is not ideal. And we all know Tom Brady’s kryptonite is pressure up the middle.

Joe’s got a very, very bad vibe about this.

We’re all gonna see Tom Bradys dink n dunk offense come Monday night šŸŒ™

  3. Bosch Says:

If none of the three can play, who would be activated fro the practice squad?

  4. Dew Says:

Goedeke started in game one vs Dallas.

  5. BucU Says:

What happened to “we’re the healthiest we’ve been all year”.

  6. DungyDance Says:

Joe who would the 4th string guy be? Assuming practice squad?

  7. JimmyfromNY Says:

Lol!! What a complete fool the head coach is . Played the starters enough to get some key guys hurt, but not long enough to beat Atlanta. The only thing thatā€™s been consistent on this team is the in competence of the head coach and his assistants.

  8. Leopold Stotch Says:

We just need Lenny to knock Parsons on his tush again and he’ll be neutered all game. If we’re passing have Kieft and Lenny back there by Brady and we’ll be fine. If Dallas’s secondary is as bad as the pundits say, we’ll be fine

  9. biff barker Says:

    Too bad this game matters.

Tommy Boy’s last game here features the chuck and duck gameplan.

    The end is near.

  10. The Beer Whisperer Says:

The problem, as I see it, the injuries are in the weakest position group.
The Bucs seemed to have skimped, or over-estimated their strength in this area, this year.

That’s just my opinion, others mileage will vary, lol

  11. gp Says:

    Leopold Stotch
    I almost forgot about that!
You have a very good point. Micah is the type to be a pain in the a$$ right up to the point where he get put on his, hard. After that, he’s nuthin but a kitten.

  12. ElioT Says:

Theyā€™re not healthy and itā€™s going to be a very tough game.

    Go Bucs.

  13. HC Grover Says:

Way to go Bowzo! I knew he would.

  14. Goatfarmer Says:

Sure glad that Blowes went half pregnant against Atlanta. Played Hainsey long enough to get him injured while still losing the meaningless game.

    Whatever.

Drugs. Injections. Repeat. This is the playoffs. Jack Youngblood played the 1979 playoffs with a broken leg.

    Shootā€™em up. Repeat.

  15. #8ā€™s Ghost Says:

Brady will stay in pocket longer to hit deep throws.
Availability is best ability right? He couldnā€™t get crushed in regular season.
    Now heā€™ll take risks.
    Tompkins 2 tdā€™s. Bucs win.

  19. Rod Munch Says:

Seattle is a joke of a team, should be the stupid Lions in this game right now, they’d have at least given a better effort had the NFL refs not blown that Seattle / Rams game.

Yeah, it’s remarkable what a good playcaller can do vs someone who has the IQ of a sock.

  21. Gofortheface30 Says:

Guys these days get hurt much more than they ever did 20-30yrs ago. Yet, guys back then beat the dog shi out of each other in practice (there is actually value in that) and they didnā€™t rely on twinnnks like Alex Guerrero – pseudoscience extraordinaire. These little fem boy gen zā€™ers keep promoting a world of more empathy, more player empowerment, load management (ghhayyyy), but you know what, I feel no empathy. Itā€™s infuriating that guys cannot co sisterly be available. Injuries have robbed fans (and themselves) of another Super Bowl last yr, and will be the Bucs undoing this yr. I donā€™t feel ā€œsorryā€ for a guy making about a milly getting hurt, Iā€™m pissed and annoyed that it is literally one thing after another every-single-week, along with our low IQ offensive coordinator. This is why Brady is going to walk out that door this yr with both middle fingers up down to Miami and they will only have themselves to blame

  22. #8ā€™s Ghost Says:

Munch be nice to socks. They are clothes too.

  23. D-Rok Says:

Without decent blocking, with whomever mans the 5 O-line spots, we will not win this game.

I’ll repeat it: The O-line is the key to this game. And it’s as simple as that.

EEEEKS. Now I’m a tad concerned we won’t even be competitive…and that sucks!

    GO BUCS!!!

  24. Rod Munch Says:

D-Rok – On the other hand maybe Hainsey is fine, and Jensen is a surprise active, and this is the best the line has been all year. Always a possibility, these guys have to know this is likely Brady’s last game in a Bucs uniform if they don’t perform, so this would be the time to give it their all.

  25. TheBucsAnthem Says:

It doesn’t matter if the Bucs win…..cause ain’t no team gonna beat the 49ers anyways

    ……..just saying

  26. D-Rok Says:

Well, Rod, if your scenario comes to fruition, I’ll have lost my voice by midnite Monday due to over-excitement and screaming at the TV cuz we done smoked them Cowpokes. Hey, it COULD happen as you predict! I hope so.

But I have to give the doggie some sedatives and counsel Mrs. D-Rok that I might could get a tad randy n rowdy – if we be winning. I’m making the necessary arrangements. šŸ˜‰

  27. JBBucs_06 Says:

Based on the smoke screens, it’ll prob be Hainsey and Jensen with Luke G as a first backup. Still should be able to run on Cowboys D.

  28. D-Rok Says:

    Anthem,

Although I tend to agree with you that the Niners will prolly smoke everyone and win the SB….becuz I see them as the best overall team and they should win it. Don’t count out the Billz, and them Cheefs always be dangerous with Mahomey slingin’ it. But yeah, Niners are the best team in my book.

CAN the Bucs beat the Niners? It’s very unlikely, but possible. Any given Sunday, so they say.

  29. TheBucsAnthem Says:

The Defense alone for the 49ers can win them a Superbowl…..they’re that good.

But you’re right about the Chiefs and Bills too.

  30. NEfan Says:

Anthem, the D is stifling and the play action is the best I’ve ever seen.

  31. Mario Says:

Take a look at the injury report we have 9 players listed as questionable for the game and 2 players listed as doubtful – that would be half of the starting lineup. I am sure most if not all will play but this last injury report is just silly. I guess trying to keep the Cowboys guessing.

  32. NEfan Says:

Jensen is the ace in the hole. Is Bowles that cunning? Doubt it.

  34. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Boom!….. Seattle just took the lead

  35. NEfan Says:

Jack, YES I DO!!! Next question.

  36. Gofortheface30 Says:

F outta here with the no one is beating the Niners nonsense. Every single team in the NFC is deeply flawed. There is no dominance in this day and age. Everyone is mediocre, and RIGHT as I type this Seattle took the lead over the oh so scary, Brock purdy led niners

  39. Rod Munch Says:

But it’s very early, I still assume the 49ers will blow them out and win by at least 24.

  40. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Yeah

Everyteam is rooting for the Seahawks to beat the 49ers right now

  58. R0n@Tampa Says:

Bucs will be 3 time champions after this year. Only a idiot and a hater would disagree.

  59. Goatfarmer Says:

Leftbowels should be doubtful if not out. What a sham this coaching nightmare is. While we are hopeful about a win against the Cowboys, most realistic observers smell a complete Leftbowels implosion, plodding run to nowhere offense that leads to the ā€œmust passā€ scenario wherein Leftbowels refuses to go max protect with his beaten up OL – but at least his defense is clueless on their coverage assignments. A 3 score Cowboys victory is more likely than a narrow Bucs win.

  60. AmauryGuzman Says:

Is anyone beating the 49ers? The only way to beat them is to outphysical them but nobody has done it.

  61. R0n@Tampa Says:

    This is what to expect.

    Bucs 34
    Cowboys 3

    Bucs 31
    Eagles 13

    Bucs 20
    49ers 0

    Bucs 38
    Chiefs 16.

  62. Rod Munch Says:

John Lynch has done a hell of a job with the 49ers.

I have no issues with Licht, but I’d rather have Lynch.

I think if Ronde ever got a GM job, he’s another guy who’d do an amazing job. I’m surprised he hasn’t started working his way up inside the Bucs already, but maybe he’ll just get handed something like Lynch did when the time comes.

  63. Rod Munch Says:

R0n@Tampa – that’d be amazing. You should take that to Vegas, I’m certain you’d get at least 3,000,000-to-1 odds for that exact scenario.

  64. R0n@Tampa Says:

As fans we have to expect and believe Rod. That is very doable.

  65. R0n@Tampa Says:

With the exception of the Bucs and its been said by many. Anybody is beatable. Especially in the NFC. Last time Bucs faced the Chiefs a second time they smoked them.

  66. Rod Munch Says:

Goatfarmer – You’re much more astute in your observation and have made me open my eyes and realize that words hurt. To insult socks by comparing them to Leftwich, that’s just hurtful and wrong.

    Thank you for helping me.

    God bless.

  67. Rod Munch Says:

BTW, when the Seahawks were winning earlier, I was going to say they’d eventually lose by 35, but lowered it to 24 as to not sound outrageous. I should have went with my original take.

  68. AmauryGuzman Says:

Christ what an implosion by the seachickens after the fumble. Nobody is beating the 49ers if you donā€™t make them one dimensional.

  69. AmauryGuzman Says:

Ron@tampa I donā€™t see it. The 49ers are a physical team. The best way to beat them is by limiting their running game. Only a few teams have done that.

  70. Rod Munch Says:

R0n@Tampa – I have no issues with the optimism, I’m hopeful, but that’s all, just hopeful, I don’t expect much with these idiots we have coaching the team.

Also I agree with you that everyone is beatable… except for the 49ers. I don’t see any scenario where the Bucs would win that game in San Fran. The coaching gap is just insurmountable. But I’d love for the Bucs to get far enough to find out if you’re right or not.

  71. R0n@Tampa Says:

SF doesn’t impress me. Bucs are a better team. Brady vs Purdy. C,mon man.

  72. Kidfloflo Says:

Purdy’s other shoe has got to drop! Kid has been playing with house money and is due for a 3 pick game! Let’s hope it’s against us…he was last pick in the draft for a reason

  73. AmauryGuzman Says:

I will be rooting for the Vikings tomorrow. Hope they win.

  74. AmauryGuzman Says:

Rod Munch bucs embarrassed themselves in san francisco. I can see it again. The only chance you have against the 49ers is stopping the run. You gotta have a lot of discipline against that team.

  75. AmauryGuzman Says:

Anyway bucs have a big game on monday. I know i will be a vikings fan tomorrow.

  76. R0n@Tampa Says:

Bucs have a better qb than SF, have a better o dline than SF, have a better oline then SF. Coaching is even. Advantage Bucs.

  77. AmauryGuzman Says:

R0n@Tampa your trolling at this point.

  78. R0n@Tampa Says:

It’s an opinion. not a troll.

  79. R0n@Tampa Says:

    I love my team.

  80. NEfan Says:

Amaury, if we learned anything this season, Bucs D is NOT discipline

  81. AmauryGuzman Says:

R0n@Tampa i guess you missed the game againsh the 49ers. Our run defense is just not the same. Vita Vea and line use for be good in clogging the line.

  82. Jerry Says:

Looks like if Bucs win, they will have to go all the way to SF on a short week to play a SF team that will get 2 extra days rest.

All because of having a stupid playoff game on a Monday night.

  83. AmauryGuzman Says:

NEfan not at all Nobody is beating the 49ers unless you play 60 minutes of disciplined football and limit their rushing attack

  84. AmauryGuzman Says:

Jerry gotta root for the vikings tomorrow .

  85. R0n@Tampa Says:

I believe in adjustments. Remember in 2020 when the Chiefs blew out the Bucs? Bucs came back in the 2nd meeting. The stage was bigger for Mahomes than it was for Brady. Same with this year’s title game. Stage will be too big for Purty. Brady been there and done that.

  86. NEfan Says:

You all are witnessing what true coaching on both sides of the ball can do. Shanahan has won this season with 3 different QB’s. Montana could unretire and win with this O and play calls. The play action is second to none. It only shows how inferior BL is and BA did this.

  87. AmauryGuzman Says:

NEfan helps to be balance. You have to be able to run the ball some to set up play-action. 11 game winning streak.

  88. D-Rok Says:

2:27 left in fourth, Niners 41, Seahawks 17. Niners are by far the most talented team in the league this year. I mean, our Bucs got “moxie” a few games, but when the Bucs played the Niners this year? They are light years ahead of us.

And to think, it took a village and inspired team effort to just knock off the Seahawks this year in Germany, no less.

If we face the Niners in the playoffs this year, it will be like David and Goliath, or like the 2020 season where we faced the immortal Chiefs for the Super Bowl.

  89. AmauryGuzman Says:

R0n@Tampa youā€™re forgetting the difference here man. Coaching staff!!!!! Also this d-line has a taken a step back when it comes to stopping the run. Vea got paid and hasnā€™t been that dominant guy in plugging the run defense.

  90. AmauryGuzman Says:

@D-Rock I think the line would be around 9 or 10 against us.

  91. Jerry Says:

We would have to face the 49ers either next week or the week after. I don’t see the Giants knocking them off.

  92. NEfan Says:

Maybe KC can they can keep up with the scoring but I can’t see a team knocking the 9ers off.

  93. AmauryGuzman Says:

NEfan stop the run. Good coaches come up with a game plan. You have to en discipline for 60 minutes to beat them.

  94. fwfan Says:

Lot of bravado on this site. I just a 13-4 team blast a 9-8 team. What would happen to a team entering the postseason with a losing record? To say that the NFC is beatable and not include a 8-9 team in that conversation is foolish. Although there are some that would disagree I would say that a 8-9 team is the most beatable team in both conferences.

Don’t believe me look the playoff records of teams with losing records playing in these games and see for yourself. Dallas is a coin flip game but a championship run? Really?? wow!

  95. NEfan Says:

Amaury, they stopped the run up the MIDDLE. Play action, counters and there is always a wr open. The yards after catch is sick. Not sure I ever seen a team as good on both sides of the ball as this team. Maybe 2007 Pat’s but they lost the SB.

  96. Goatfarmer Says:

No one needs to sweat the 49ers.

Lintwich isnā€™t going to beat the Cowboys so itā€™s a moot point.

  97. HC Grover Says:

    Leave it to BOWZO!

  98. AmauryGuzman Says:

NEfan i am waiting on purdy to turn into a pumpkin and the guy keeps delivering. Helps to be balanced though.

  99. NEfan Says:

Half time adjustments. What was BA’s quote? “Halftime is for going to the bathroom!” Bucs could have had Doug Peterson. Thanks AGAIN BA you arse.

  100. NEfan Says:

    Dungy looks like ET

  101. David Says:

So other than BL being ridiculously below average as an OC, the number one reason for the Buccaneers offensive woes this year was left guard and center being entirely new people on the interior of the lineā€¦ And now those players that have basically sucked all year arenā€™t even available and weā€™re going to have worse. Wonderful.

  102. Kentucky Buc Says:

It always cracks me up when coaches get these loaded teams and suddenly theyā€™re great coaches. Shanahan has choked damn near as many times as Andy Reid. Well, if they both make the Super Bowl only one can choke it away. Not a Belichek fan but he never chokes with the possible exception of the intentional choke when he didnā€™t play Butler in the Super Bowl.

  103. The Beer Whisperer Says:

In other news: the Chargers have a horse shoe up their hind-end tonight.

  104. NEfan Says:

  106. steele Says:

My guess is that Hainsey will try. It fits the team narrative that he’s heroic and deserves to be the starter, Jensen or not. He’ll go until he can’t. Hainsey/Goedeke/Molchon. Walton and someone else from the PS will have to be ready. The season, and Brady’s legacy, decided by this patchwork.

I don’t expect Jensen, who wouldn’t be ready or effective even if they throw him out there.

  107. AmauryGuzman Says:

Chargers have the best chance of knocking Kansas City. I donā€™t think the jags donā€™t stand much of a chance.

  108. NCalBucsfan Says:

    Kentucky Buc- you are right
Until this year Shanahan had a losing record over the 5 previous years. Many Niner fans here in NorCal want him goneā€¦.
If you watched the game it wasnā€™t all great play calling and the Seahawks were all over and through the niners o line- it was Prudyā€™s ability to scramble and make off schedule plays, an ability the Bucs donā€™t have.

  109. R0n@Tampa Says:

Jville stinking it up. What a loser franchise.

  110. R0n@Tampa Says:

  112. Goatfarmer Says:

The Jags chick QB is doing her best JaMiss imitation, only with a lot of Dilfer peppered in there.

  113. Redeemer Says:

Kentucky speaks the truth. IDC what your coaching resume is, you don’t win without oodles of talent on both sides of the ball. Mike’s son choked away a Superbowl, because he couldn’t get plays in on time. That’s documented. Go ask Matt Ryan. His vanity cost him a ring as coordinator. All ATL had to do was run, over and over and the historic Brady comeback never happens. Reid cost himself at least another appearance, with his miserable clock management.

  114. fwfan Says:

Two 9-8 teams getting blown out tonight. What will happen to the 8-9 Bucs team tomorrow?

  115. Goatfarmer Says:

And now the girl from Jax has exceeded JaMiss. 4 picks in the first half and all they are doing is whining about the Chargers tight coverage. Trevatha Lawrence is showing her ass on National TV and I think itā€™s great. Meanwhile Herbert is making a case that he should be talked about as much as Burrow and Allen. But not Mahomes, nobody does it as well as him.

  116. Faspro64 Says:

Two 9-8 teams getting blown out tonight. What will happen to the 8-9 Bucs team tomorrow?
    —–

Historically, teams with losing records tends to play relatively well. Previously there have been a total of 3 teams that won their division with a losing record. Those teams are 2-1 in the Wild Card round. (That one loss was Washington in 2020 to the Super Bowl Bucs. And even though WAS lost, they put up a heck of a fight.)

Psychologically there is likely some underestimating going on. If you are playing a team with a losing record in the playoffs, you tend to have an assumption in your mind that it’s going to be an easy game. That line of thinking in the sport of football is very dangerous.

  121. fwfan Says:

That is a good find. I remember Seattle and Carolina years back were one and done. End of the day it’s talent. Teams with losing records don’t make deep runs. There seems to be a lot of confidence from nay that this 8-9 team will.

  122. fwfan Says:

    *many

  123. AmauryGuzman Says:

Terrible comparison mentioning two 9-8 teams compared to us. Itā€™s geno smith and the jags are terrible despite winning the division. Bucs underachieved all season with a crappy running game.

  124. AmauryGuzman Says:

The chargers are more talented than the jags. The bucs have some decent players compared to those teams.

  125. fwfan Says:

You really believe the Bucs will make a deep run or win it all? I won’t argue with you. I’ll take the field you take a bucs if you want to wager.

  126. fwfan Says:

Of course I am unlucky and would lose which is why I don’t make bets. Even now couldn’t say which teams would play in the super bowl.

Iā€™ve had enough ā€œsplash movesā€ in my years as a Bucs fan to last me a lifetime, such as:

Taking Steve Young instead of Reggie White in the 1984 supplemental draft (Iā€™ve always loved pass rushers).
Drafting Vinny Testaverde over Cornelius Bennett, and trading Young off for peanuts.
Trading a 1st Rounder for Chris Chandler because Testaverde got blamed for losses, even though the rest of the team was terrible.
Trading 2 1st Rounders for Keyshawn Johnson, even though it was known he was a locker room cancer.

If signing Brady costs us not being able to sign some of our good players that ARENā€™T OVER THE HILL LIKE BRADY, this will be another possible ā€œsplash moveā€ failure to add to the list.

Hainsey–read elsewhere he’s the 12th ranked center in the NFL, not too shabby.

“Hainsey finished the season with a 66.6 PFF grade, with a 72.6 pass blocking grade and a 60.9 run defense mark. He had just two penalties all year and wasnā€™t credited with a single sack allowed.”

ā€¦ and yet he is a Super Bowl winning NFL Coach who doesnā€™t know you exist. With your coaching credibility one would think you would be busy with game plans this weekend.

What a creative O San Fran has. BL is a joke.

Yeah, itā€™s remarkable what a good playcaller can do vs someone who has the IQ of a sock.

  136. C2asante Says:

What I learned is despite the Bucs deficiencies on offense and defense, Iā€™d take the Bucs over New England and apparently you would too since you are here and not on their irrelevant message board. How bout those Patriots?

Amaury, if we learned anything this season, Bucs D is NOT discipline

  137. NEfan Says:

C2@ same record as the Bucs only Bucs O is far more talented, the D maybe a toss up. They just gave the Bill’s a run for their money, I doubt the Bucs could.

  138. NEfan Says:

    C2@ Belichick has 7 rings, that’s credibility.

  139. NEfan Says:

Fans, the Jags game is a perfect example of GREAT and POOR coaching. Lawrence turned the ball over 4 times and got down 20 points at the half. Daley shat himself and panicked, went into protect mode (Bowles like), Peterson (who Bucs should have had as.their HC) kept his young QB calm and made the adjustments at half-time(didn’t go to the bathroom) and secured the W. Payton will be the Chargers HC next season after this debacle.

Hahaha, you had to go back to 2020, Goatfarmer? Iā€™ve already admitted I was wrong on Brady. Like you were wrong on Trevor Lawrence last night. Man up and admit you were wrong.
