Byron looks fantastic. About 5 times including the reverse and TD, I said great playcall. I hope this continues. There’s a famous line by Harvey Keitel in the movie Pulp Fiction that I can’t say on here. Basically, I’m not about to say Byron has won us over but if he continues to look the part, we could be dangerous.

Arians literally writes out the opening series of games, it’s why the team generally moves the ball. After that, Leftwich takes over, and it’s why the offense becomes ultra predictable and everyone in the stadium knows what is coming.

Buccaneer Bonzai – Every team writes out their opening drives – and the opening drives actually have good playcalling, not predictable. Once Leftwich is back in charge, it’s the same garbage over and over, 1st down run up the middle, 2nd down short pass, 3rd down short pass, punt.

I understood the reason for this when I saw the close-call wins in his perfect regular season of ’07. He simply keeps refusing to lose and has a lot of comeback wins. I still don’t know how he didn’t lose against the Ravens and Giants on that particular regular season. When Belicheat gave him bad teams, he kept grinding until the end every time. Well, I gues we saw some of that fire this year thankfully.

You know the only reason we’re all on here armchair coaching week to week is because those of us who know football, who may have played in the past either professionally or semi-professionally, find it so absurd that a coach in the NFL can make such absurd and nonsensical decisions on a week to week basis for a billion dollar franchise and not suffer any consequences for that. I’m curious: how does the Buccaneer team give up so many plays down the field as easily as they do? They seem to get carved up on long passes as if no one is covering men downfield. This is not a Tampa 2 scheme; Tampa two is outdated. So what in the world are they covering when you see all these guys get open down field and rookies finding them with ease? Rookies seem to look like Hall of Fame passers against us. It appears as if the linebackers are lost. Rod Much — no, I know. Tampa 2 is outdated. But team’s run updated versions with just a safety cover in zone. We seem to be missing a honey badger on top to save us on deep plays. Our corners wait too long to turn around on plays. Earlier, Dean shoulda been called. But a safety should have been there even before Dean had to turn around. We’re not splitting the safeties……we need to have either a two-derp safety scheme, or send White on every down. Vea and Hicks aren’t in rn and Barrett is out. With the Bucs in legit cap hell, if Brady moves on, then you’re doing a full rebuild. Trask will get his chance to play, and if stinks, like I assume, then he’ll get the Bucs the #1 pick in 2024. If he doesn’t stink, looks great, then awesome, you got a QB.
But with the cap next year, it’s going to be extremely difficult to keep Brady. Not impossible, but very difficult.

Advantages to losing: It improves our draft position over the Jags. It negatively affects the draft position of a division rival. It will tick Brady off, and give him motivation because no QB has ever taken a losing team to a SB win. Disadvantages: hurts our momentum, whose value is questionable at best, especially with a veteran team.

I agree with that statement about the cap in general, but the Bucs have already done all those tricks to get us this far. While they can keep Brady, it means losing a lot of guys like Shaq, Fournette, Donovan Smith and not resigning David, Dean, SMB, etc.
It would take an awesome draft to overcome that, and you’d do stuff like more Wirfs to LT, etc.
With that said I’d do anything to keep Brady around. Once he leaves, it’s another 2-decades of being losers that no one cares about.

Roberto never missed a kick that mattered, shouldn’t have been cut, and no, that pick was not worse than Trask, for the reasons mentioned, that you had a SB team and could have used a top backup lineman, or top backup safety, another WR, etc.
If it wasn’t for the SB team, then you’d be correct, as taking a lottery ticket on a developmental QB isn’t the worst thing in the world, but with that team, it was a complete waste of a pick and you needed that depth somewhere else.

I’m not a college fan, so it doesn’t matter to me where they come from…though I would probably be partial to a USF player if we had one at QB, just for loyalty reasons.
The way I’m understanding it, the cap issues will hurt us if we go after a veteran QB in the off season. We’d have to lose some Offensive guys.
That said…I hate to say it, but Evans is our biggest trade bait.

Buccaneer Bonzai- You can’t trade Evans, his cap hit would be huge. All those times that Evans restructured his deal, and pushed money back, that all comes due at some point. Godwin you could trade and Wirfs, by far, would get the biggest return. But both are young enough that you’d want to keep him for a rebuild.
