Weak Running Game Burying The Bucs

Faded fast.
There are a lot of reasons why the Bucs were humiliated in Cleveland today, but Joe has to point to the weak rushing attack.
Yeah, Rachaad White ran through a massive hole on his first carry for 35 yards, but what did he do after that?
Not much.
White followed that up with 13 carries for 29 yards. Ke’Shawn Vaughn chipped in with four carries for 15 yards. When the Bucs needed to move the chains and close out the game, they couldn’t do it.
This was against a Cleveland run defense among the very worst in the NFL.
The Bucs had a touchdown lead and FOUR fourth-quarter drives to eat the clock and score or get to victory formation, and they failed every time.
It’s not all on the running backs, but it’s safe to say the running back the Bucs need to win a game like today’s is not on the roster.
It feels crazy for Joe to reference the postseason, but the Bucs do lead the NFC South with their 5-6 record. So playoffs chatter is justified. How can Joe or anyone expect the Bucs to win a playoff game if they can’t close out a game against Cleveland in four tries?

You’re completely wrong Joe. White is gonna be a star, as soon as Leftwich is fired. You can’t just run up the middle on 1st down over and over and over again and black the RB when there are no holes. What exactly were the bad reads by White that lead to him being the issue? I didn’t see any. In fact I saw him getting yards when there weren’t any.
This is 100% on Leftwich being a garbage coach and completely predictable and doing nothing to help his players, instead putting them in terrible situations again and again and again.

this team is going nowhere!!! Need to move on from coaching staff, TB-12 and any expensive vet we are able to trade. This is a team in salary cap hell that will be rebuilding for years.

It is not a personnel issue. Teams with worse offensive lines and running backs do better. The issues are that we are predictable when we run. Teams know when and where we are running the ball, and we unsurprisingly run into traffic 90% of the time. Boron is not going to fix this, he has no idea what he is doing. Ridiculous.

It is the scheme and not the runners. You have to adjust the O-line for a run game, and that isn’t happening.

Yucs2Bucs – I say you replace these two dips–ts with Jon Gruden.
Seriously, want to make this back into a SB contender overnight? That would be the shakeup that would do it.
Obviously nothing like that would happen, and I don’t even think that highly of Gruden, but the current coaching situation is so bad, just having some energy and someone yelling at everyone, would turn things around immeditially. Not that Gruden was all that much better about running it up the middle on every first down, but even he, I think, might make a difference, and at least Gruden ran slants.

Our coaching is awful. 4th n 2 on the opponents 38 yr line n u punt. Bowles has not guts or heart. He’s a good defensive coach only, n at best, Leftwich is maybe an ok middle school coach. DSmith is an embarrassment, he play timid n scared. MEvans will not make extra effort to go after difficult passes that are catchable. JDarden is the same player from last year. No improvement. Can we get a real punt returner? It’s so obvious that JDarden runs with fear. He’s either slipping on a dry field, tripping on his own feet, or looking to run outta bounds. Are u serious! With 2:40 left browns punted to Darden n he called for a fair catch with the closest defender about 15-20 yards away from him with nothing but open space.

Bowles punted from the Chiefs 40 earlier this year on 4th and 2, when the defense was completely worn out and clearly, if you put them back out there, the Chiefs would march right down the field and get a TD – which is what happened, which I said would happen before the punt. I called him a coward then and people said that was out of line.
Bowles is a complete coward of a headcoach. He coaches like he has the 2002 Bucs defense which is going to hold everyone to 12.2 points a game. Instead he was a good defense in 2022, not an all-time great defense with the best passing defense in the history of the game.
That’s why Bowles is a coward, or literally the dumbest person in the country, and I don’t think he’s dumb, I think he’s just a coward.
But not to worry Bowles, I remember Dirk doing the exact same thing.

Bucs should still win division and make playoffs. So why not focus on preparing for that. If you gonna throw the ball 40+ times strengthen your receiving corp. If you can’t convert 3rd down running, get a 3rd down reciever not named Beasley or Miller( was he hurt today). Chris can play wideout just as well or better than slot.

Watched the game at Hattricks…3 tables would scream run middle on 1st down before the play.
it was very obvious that the refs were going to allow the corners to beat up the receivers…why not go to crossing routes…nope…we keep throwing deep to Evans hoping to get a call..
Why play off zone so much in the 1st half…our D is 10x better when we play aggressive…our off zone sucks!

There is no RB on this roster who can carry an offense. Especially one with a compromised OL and bad playcalling.
Rachaad White is Lenny 2.0. A long strider who is not explosive, quick or fast, who “sails” in open field, but needs a great OL and gadget schemes that get him open. A guy who is ineffective in short yardage, taken down. Both Rachaad and Lenny lack explosiveness and burst. Things you saw in abundance today with Chubb. Something that Bucs had with RoJo but failed to make it work. At best, Rachaad is a 3rd down receiving back or a second option.

I don’t even like Gruden, to be sure, he destroyed the Bucs, but for a one season shake up, he’d be great.
Plus you’re literally talking about firing two of the biggest losers every and replacing him with someone who is average.
Also, he didn’t ‘destroy’ the Raiders, that team stunk anyways, and didn’t his team get to the playoffs last year? This year they get a new HC and they’re the worst team in football. Seems like Gruden was making a difference and elevating a terrible team, with a terrible QB.

To be clear, obviously the Bucs won’t do anything at all, I’m just doing what-ifs. I’m not a Gruden fan, and that’s my point, Gruden coming in now at this point, would literally turn the team around overnight*. Arians would have this as a SB contender again, overnight*. Hell, Dirk might be a slight upgrade from this mess. Lovie WOULD be an upgrade from this. Hummm, the question is if Schiano would be an upgrade — probably not, but that’s were Bowles and Leftwich are, at the Schiano line.

It was not a weak running game that defeated the Bucs. It was an overrated fossil QB who did. I had it on Bucs Radio and the boob tube. Had to deal with time delay but I’m used to it. I watched Brady the fossil have plenty of time to make plays which senile didn’t, and then come up with some bonehead whoppers. The team needs to Lynch him on the flight back here. Of course, that would be first degree murder so they won’t.
