Todd Bowles Says Julio Jones Looks Like Julio Jones
November 17th, 2022After a sometimes mesmerizing training camp for Julio Jones, he quickly injured his knee on a deep catch in the Bucs’ season opener.
It’s been a roller coaster ride ever since, with Jones playing being a gameday decision at times but he wasn’t activated. And the Bucs were never quite sure of his status.
After Sunday’s strong showing in Germany against Seattle, Jones has played in three consecutive games with 7 catches for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns.
If Jones plays against the Browns on Nov. 27, the Bucs’ next game, it’ll be the first time he’s played in four consecutive games for his team in more than two years.
Todd Bowles told the Buccaneers Radio Network this week that Julio is rounding into top form like he was this summer.
“You saw the acceleration [against Seattle,] Bowles said. “You know, you saw him run. I mean he was really running. So that was great to see and he stayed healthy the entire game.”
The last line there is what caught Joe’s eye. “He stayed healthy the entire game.” Julio played 38 snaps, which is likely the Bucs’ target number for him.
Bowles also praised Julio’s downfield blocking, which Joe sees as another sign the future Hall of Fame receiver is getting primed for the stretch run.

He lit the afterburner on that play.

Hope I never get to see it again, but he also a great tackler. Keep healthy Julio.

Please donโt strain another labia ligament, Julio.

Julio to the offense is what Hicks is to the defense…….it makes a huge difference when he’s in the game.
And…..if we can get Gage healthy…..we will be 100$ with our WR corps.

What grade are you in?

So Julio was ‘really running and he stayed healthy the entire game’? I must be missing something Todd, because that seems like a very low bar to set for a $6 mil wide receiver.

I remember when Kwon Alexander took the ball straight out of his hands and took off like greased lightning thinking he had a td and Julio out hustled everybody and put that man on the ground hard. That’s what his tackle liked like Sunday. He could’ve played after tackling like that. Bobby Bouchet loaned him some tacklin fuel!

……until dude gets hurt again
I would not bank on Julio the rest of the season

Jones looked really good in Munich. I suspect he is back. Good signing.

Julio goes down in September and was reported within a few days that was a partially tore PCL in knee. Didn’t need surgery and returned week 4 of season.
Stinnie goes down in 2nd preseason game and barely half a day later was reported he tore his ACL/MCL and done for the season.
Jensen goes down 2nd day of practice in July with knee injury. No report because of swelling. No specifics of knee injury. Sept 1 put on injured reserve with no specifics released on injury. Reported he may be back Nov. No surgery reported. Jensen seen patrolling the sidelines a few times.
Joe says he was at his home in Colorado pouring a concrete drive.
Would like to hear what the injury was and how rehab is coming.
Chris Godwins injury and rehab was was reported regularly.
Sure Bucs have a reason but just asking.

Could it be? No longer the desert mirage of a spring just over the horizon, but actually the real thing? This is like Jimmy McGill and Mike Ehrmantraut roaming the desert for days, and then the two of them finally coming upon someone’s water trough.

Having a #4 WR with Julio’s capabilities might just come in handy another time or twelve this season….
I’m excited to see what Gage looks like when he comes back healthy. Dude gutted it out for a bunch of games early in the year when the other receivers were injured and was surprisingly productive considering the severe limitation he was playing with on that very bad hammy….
Bucs did the right thing in finally shutting him down until he can come back completely healthy – which is hopefully vs Cleveland or the following week at worst.
Joe reported more than once that Gage appeared “uncoverable” in TC prior to the hamstring injury….
Once Russell Gage gets healthy and has his ‘quicks’ back – it could be a whole different (as in more dynamic) Bucs offense than the struggling, low scoring mess that we’ve seen most of this year.
Lining up Evans, a healthy Godwin, a healthy Gage and a healthy Julio – or any of those 3 along with the quickly evolving rookie TE – represents a formidable challenge for any defense.

Joe- Am I in trouble?

@SPARKY, Julio actually has a pretty impressive tackling highlight reel.

The dude is fast. I’ll give him that.
November 17th, 2022 at 4:15 pm
IF our O-line plays like they did against Seattle the rest of the year, and IF our 4 top WR’s are healthy the rest of the year, LOOK OUT.
Coupled with a healthy, non-loafing D, we should be pretty strong come playoff time.
A LOT of IF’s, I understand. Hey it could happen.
GO BUCS!!!

The dude on that play was scooting at a different speed than everyone else on the field.

Julio will finally be getting a ring this year that he so rightfully deserves after the HOF+ career he’s had so far, and that Brady snatched from him in the 28-3 Super Bowl.
He is what he is: Great.
November 17th, 2022 at 7:16 pm
One thing about Julio. If itโs near him he catches it. You wonโt see many drops from him.

Too bad Boron looks like Boron.
