Foot Issue Sidelines Vita Vea

November 23rd, 2022

Gigantic men and foot injuries are a terrible mix.

And this one feels worse given the recent clarification of Vita Vea’s weight.

NFL Network voice Rich Eisen was the play-by-play man on the Bucs-Seahawks broadcast two Sundays ago, the Bucs’ last game prior to their bye week. Eisen later spoke on his Roku network show and said Vea told him that he weighs 360 pounds. (Damn, Vea moves well for the 360.)

Today at One Buc Palace, head coach Todd Bowles said Vea didn’t practice today because of a foot injury. Bowles didn’t offer any clarification but made it sound like Vea is unlikely to practice this week and is highly questionable for Sunday’s game in Cleveland.

That’s a rough blow for a Cleveland team with a beastly running game that is set to start its backup center on Sunday because of an injury to the starter. Joe was looking forward to a monster day from Vea alongside Akiem Hicks.

Hopefully Vea can get healthy, but the Bucs certainly have quality horses behind him in Will Gholston and Rakeem Nuñez-Roches.

    Can’t forget Pat O’Connor.

  2. Nate Says:

All these people getting hurt in a powder puff league.. show me the injury report in the 80s to now please..

  3. Daryl Green Says:

This was just a bye week correct?
See this is what I’m talking about.

  4. Tim Says:

    Put Nacho in there!

  5. Pewter Power Says:

That run game will destroy Bucs without vea. They will wear down in the second half.

  6. NEfan Says:

Why is it the only guy that plays through injuries are Evan’s and Bucs 45 yr old QB?

  7. Redeemer Says:

Great, now the browns can double Hicks all day.

  8. Biff Barker Says:

I thought Lenny played on a bum leg earlier this season,

  9. TiredBucsFan Says:

This has nothing to do with this story, but they said on news browns stadium had vandals tear up the field.

  10. Mike Says:

Bucs just can’t catch a break.

  11. NEfan Says:

Suh, oh wait he signed elsewhere

  12. Stanglassman Says:

I thought the Bucs were using their bye to get healthy. How do you get a foot injury on your off week?

  13. fwfan Says:

Does it matter if the belief is that Bucs will win it all anyway?

  14. Defense Rules Says:

NEfan … Took the words right out of my mouth. Sure glad we saved that $2 mil.

Oh well, this is why teams have DEPTH. Time for Deadrin Senat to suit up again. Played in 6 games so far this season; 5 of them were losses unfortunately. He does have 1 sack though, same as Nacho & 1 more than Gholston this year.

  15. BucU Says:

This team gets on my last nerve.

  16. captivajim Says:

HOW do get a foot injury during a bye wk ??? And Suh now plays with Eagles !!! We need to be able to stop Chubb–who’s as good a back as we’ve seen

I just hope Goedeke is not starting LG ..

  17. Dooley Says:

“HOw DO YOu GeT INjuReD DuRInG A bYE wEek?”

How do you automatically assume Vea got hurt over the bye?

  18. Uncle Urk Says:

This is not good news for the LBs. Our defense is built for to or three massive bodies to occupy the lineman and keep them off the LBs. Gholston, roach, and the rest of the backups can not get the job done. This is why Suh should have been here. But, that’s spilled milk so, here we go….

  19. catcard202 Says:

Without Vea…I can see Chubb having a BIG day against this Bucs D on a rain filled SUN afternoon in NW Ohio…Bucs O will need 31+ to escape with the W.

If not, a L to CLE would put the Bucs in no man’s land & in jeopardy of blowing the Division down the stretch. (SF & CIN become likely L’s & 3 divional toss-up games

  20. DungyDance Says:

This could be really bad news for Sunday. Having visions of Chubb terrorizing the defensive front without Vea there. *sigh

  21. DungyDance Says:

Catcard, took the words out of my mouth while I was typing. Totally agree.

  22. Defense Rules Says:

Joe … ‘Hopefully Vea can get healthy, but the Bucs certainly have quality horses behind him in Will Gholston and Rakeem Nuñez-Roches.’

Quality horses? Would have agreed with you in 2020 & 2021, but not in 2022. With Hicks AND Vea both in there, Bucs are 4-0. Missing Hicks we were 1-5, including losses against the 3-8 Panthers, the 3-7 Steelers & the 4-7 Packers. Kinda implies that the horses we had in there for Hicks during those losses weren’t getting the job done.

That’d be Gholston who’s played in all 10 games but has 0 sacks, 0 TFLs & only 3 QB hits to show for it. Nacho is barely any better for playing in all 10 games, with 1 sack, 4 TFLs & 2 QB hits. That’s not much productivity to show for a combined 593 defensive snaps.

I know that HOPE isn’t a strategy, but I agree with you Joe … ‘Hopefully Vea can get healthy’ for Sunday’s game.

  23. R0n@Tampa Says:

Bucs can run the table here. Brady has hit the reset button is playing at a high level, Evans is catching the ball again, team is getting healthy, defense has its swagger back and is playing dominant defense again. Why not talk about a title? Why not talk about more?? Bucs have a 3 to 5 year title window.

  24. Oviedo Jim Says:

If I was carrying 360#s around my feet would always hurt.

  25. Trask To The Future Says:

    BREAKING: Texans bench Davis Mills

So much for all the Trask-haters that wanted us to draft Mills instead.

  26. DungyDance Says:

Also in other news – Glazers apparently looking to sell Man U. Maybe now we can get some decent popcorn at the stadium.

  27. Mike Johnson Says:

You better hope Vita plays against these Browns people. This is easily a trap game without all hands-on deck. We need him come Sunday.

  28. Garv Says:

And after a BYE? Coming against a top rushing team and rusher in Chubb? Really? So having read the article and the text, is this BS?

  29. Crickett Baker Says:

Could be Vea got hurt in practice. It happens, as we know. I have no idea why the Glazers are really hated as owners of Manchester United but they are. There have been huge protests against them. Public opinion (again, Idk why) was screaming for them to sell that team. I guess they finally agree.

  30. Miller5252 Says:

Vea’s biggest problem…. He’s always getting hurt which I believe is tied to his low snap count year after year. I really think playing at his weight will always put him at risk for injuries and low snap count. Vea leads the team in sacks correct? Which makes the injury worse. Couldn’t imagine what he’d do in a year playing Suh’s % of snaps or Aaron Donald’s %. Too bad! Get healthy and stay in shape

  31. The Beer Whisperer Says:

My wife told me, she lost weight.
I told her, look behind you, you’ll find it.

  32. D-Rok Says:

What a drag, man. We need all the man-meat we can muster. SIGH.

    Get back soon, big fella!

Replacements: Bring your A-game this week, please.

  33. SlyPirate Says:

VEA HAS BEEN THE MOST DOMINANT PLAYER ON DEFENSE …

Heck, maybe the team. 6.5 sacks. On pace for 11!!! He was a game wrecker last week. The big man needs an extra day for his foot? So what? When you kick that much ass, your foot is bound to hurt.

Show some respect to my man, Vea.

  34. PassingThru Says:

Vea must be having dinner with Lenny.

Hopefully it’s minor but bear in mind that foot problems are what started Shaquille O’Neal’s downward career trajectory.

  35. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

If we go full lawn chair mode on defense, we’ll lose 40-3.
The browns hammered the bengals when Cincinnati went into their version of lawn chair defense. Chubby had a field day.

  36. JeffreyLane77 Says:

It’s a Bucs Life. Just when it seems like we have something positive to look forward too. This defense didn’t look so good when Hicks was injured. Hicks comes back and Vea goes down.

  37. Goatfarmer Says:

TraskLover – you have a point. Trask has never been benched by the Bucs.

  38. Steven007 Says:

Munch hasn’t chimed in about Vita’s weight yet? Must be on vacation.

  39. Scottybsweetwatertn Says:

    Mr. Whisperer…GREAT LOL!

  40. Tom Sumner Says:

    UGGGGGGHHHH VV

  41. NEfan Says:

This is no trap game, Bucs have lost the threat of being elite enough for teams to fear them.

  42. steele Says:

Tick tick tick….there it is, Vita is hurt. Tick, tick, tick….Hicks feels something not right….

Nick Chubb (the kind of RB the Bucs lack) is due for a big day.

  43. unbelievable Says:

    Ughhhh

  44. Ben Harvey Says:

Pass rush and run d will be out of sync all day in a must win game
Huge blow if he cant go

  45. Redeemer Says:

@Trask, poor Davis Mills is playing for one of the worst run franchises in league history. His owner is living in a fantasy land, literally. I’d say Mills performed admirably. without good coaching, without help, without an owner who knows a donkey from an aardvark. I bet Georgia Bulldogs could beat the Texans, at least cover the line. We know nothing about Trask. He could be the next Montana, or the next

  46. Redeemer Says:

    Bust

  47. IrishTony Says:

    He’s going to play.

  48. SteveK Says:

    Redeemer,

    *Bust- in Canton*

Fixed it for you, happy thanksgiving!

  49. SteveK Says:

Damn, sorry, Redeemer. I only read your last comment- thought you were calling Vita Vea a bust and my reply to that was in Canton. Lmao. Not for Trask.yet…🤞😎🏈

  50. brooks Says:

Another expected win that will turn into a loss 2717 Browns

  51. Eric b Says:

Damnit we needed suh!!! Lets stop this run game stack the box!!! Double cooper!!! Browns are exploitable in the run game.. lfgo white!! Lfgo lenny!!! We need this win!!! Lfgo!!!
