Credit To The Offense (Finally) Not Being Stubborn

November 6th, 2022

Hero.

Bucs fans watching closely have probably noticed that when the Bucs have gone hurry-up, though rarely, the offense moves the ball.

That happened again tonight. When the Bucs stopped this nonsense of “we have to run the ball” the offense began to wake up.

Joe doesn’t know who to give credit. Todd Bowles? Byron Leftwich? Tom Brady? Whoever the hell decided to knock off wasting snaps for no good reason and started winging the ball, props to you!

Joe is a huge, huge Mike Evans fan. This may have been his worst game in a long, long time. Chris Godwin didn’t play sharp, either. So Joe found it telling that late, Brady was leaning on Cade Otton and Scotty Miller and Rachaad White to get the ball down the field.

The Bucs almost waited too late. But getting out of that dumb “we have to run the ball” nonsense and going (slightly) away from players who were having rough games impressed Joe.

Who gets the credit for that? Bravo Bucs, bravo.

Just let Brady call all the plays and let Lefty just go sit on a corner somewhere.

  2. Panhandle Buc Says:

It was not Leftwich!! Evans had a rough, rough game! Look to see him bounce back big in Germany!

  3. BuxfaninTX Says:

Scotty “ I dropped the game winner” Miller?

  4. Bucanero Says:

I almost forgot how it feels when your team wins. Bucs better win the Munchen Bowl because I sure hate losing

  5. bucsfaninva Says:

OK I know this is slightly off topic…but did anyone else start yelling at their TV when Bowels didn’t challenge the punt that DID NOT go into the End Zone, nor appear to touch it? Even the announcers were like…what’s to lose? At this point, they should have. What a cowardly coaching moment. Shaking my head. So thrilled with the win, but so disappointed with the game plan/coaching. And one other not. Why…WHY doesn’t anyone know ANYTHING about Jensen’s condition? Either he’s coming back, or not. Cut the cloak and dagger crap and just say what’s going on with him. OK, off to celebration land for another 2.8 mins…and then to wondering how the he11 they are going to win with that kind of performance in Germany….

  6. sold Says:

Not sold and I still have no faith in this garbage team. At this point I am certain Tom Brady is totally washed (the low throws drive me friggin crazy.) And Julio Jones should be cut as should scotty miller. He is still high from that NFC champ game. The bucs will get no praise from me. They are weak and pathetic and beyond poorly coached. Hiring monitories because it looks good in the media was a mistake, and I am a person of color saying this. We aint going nowhere and a new lost decade is coming.

  7. Leighroy Says:

Bucsfaninva: I yelled for about 3 seconds, then realised it didn’t matter. The defence needed a 3 and out, and it didn’t matter if it was at the 2 or the 20.

I think Bowles realised this too, and that his time out was more valuable than the benefit and so I talked myself back off the ledge.

  8. Redeemer Says:

Joe, credit Brady. I have no doubt he told BL, we’re going hurry up from now on. Give me the ball, and stay off my headset!!!

  9. Paratrooper Buc Says:

    @bucsfaninva

Yeah I was baffled they didn’t challenge. It looked clear cut that it was in and could be overturned. Also agree Jensen info is so weird.

  10. Redeemer Says:

I distinctly heard Romo say Jensen out for the season. These production crews always get bits of info. Maybe he meant regular season? IDK

  11. RioDeJaneiroBucsFan Says:

    Fire Byron

  12. Your Mom Says:

Has to be Brady. Have these other clowns they call coaches shown any indication they were capable of this?

  13. D-Rok Says:

Once again, the Rams crushed the ribs of an important piece of the Bucs offense.

Next time we play the Rams, flak-jackets should be required of all Bucs skill players. Gronk would agree.

    Still, we won. YAY!

Still, Leftnut gotta go. Debate me, if you will.

  14. SufferingSince76 Says:

Remember they couldn’t get into the end zone until the very end. Pathetic that they couldn’t get 7 yards for a score in 4 downs the prior series.

  15. D Says:

Burn the Witch! …I mean, fire Leftwich!

  16. ModHairKen Says:

Mike Evans gets a pass. That hit in the 1st quarter messed up his ribs and his shoulder. Most WRs would be on the bench. Not Mike. He played and it was gutsy.

  17. Beeej Says:

HOW many game-winning drives has this man had in the last 2+ decades?

  18. Frank Pillow Says:

The HC is a joke. The OC is the punchline.

  19. bucs4life Says:

Pay attention to the chunk plays that Brady made.

    1) Seam route up the middle to TE
    2) Iso routes outside the numbers to small WRs and RBs
    3) Wheel routes to RBs
    4) Shotgun, no huddle drives

Those are Brady’s traditional bread and butter! Let Brady cook, Leftwich! No more running 30 times up the gut, Brady’s bread and butter open up the running lanes, not trying to run time and time again. That should be obvious.

  20. JimmyfromNY Says:

Lol Brady is washed!! You’re crying tears of soul delicious every game winning drive probably take a year off your life I love it

  21. steele Says:

Yes, I would love to know if the key drive(s) were Brady all the way, taking over and being vintage field general.

The first half, however, was definitely Leftwich.

Bucsfanin VA, I’ve been screaming the same thing: why the total silence on Jensen? If he comes back 100% any time soon, that removes a great deal of the problem. But the last rumor (was it Joe or Ira?) that Jensen was not walking well as of a week ago? Hall and Stinnie really did a number on him.

  22. firethecannons Says:

we should of traded Godwin as crazy as that sounds he cannot separate worth a sh!t anymore, TB12 has to throw it in a crowd every time he tries to get it to godwin–hard to watch a good player regress

  23. unbelievable Says:

Evans got injured on the first pass thrown his way- let’s not forget that. I’m sure it was bothering him all night. He did have 2 or 3 bug drops, but also some clutch plays for first downs, like always.

  24. unbelievable Says:

CG hasn’t been himself all season, sadly.

I hope Romo is right and he keeps improving back to form.

  25. Bojim Says:

    Well whoever, it wasn’t BL.

  26. Crickett Baker Says:

You guys didn’t see Jensen was put on IR?

  27. Bucamania Says:

Tom Brady and the Bucs needed that.

  28. Canabuc Says:

Mike was bad but I think he was playing all game with bruised or cracked ribs. Most guys would not have fitted that out.

  29. Beejezus-belt Says:

Byron has been setting up that 1st and goal for years. Every one thought Lenny was getting it on 1st and goal. Maybe now Byron can come up with another play to run on first down for now on, and scrap Lenny up the middle on every first.

  30. Jonny Says:

This team is still horribly coached with dunce play calling on offense that puts us in a hole so often. Fournette is a waste of space, waste of downs and waste of roster spot. They should stop handing him the ball.

  31. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Rachaad White is a MUCH better runner than Fornette! And yes Joe you do still have to run the ball in the NFL that is something they have to get better at and you can only get better by doing it … This throw the ball 60 times a game mentality you have is dumb and shows your lack of knowing what makes a playoff team! White ran really good when they didn’t run the same play back to back … As far as what happened it’s obvious Tom stopped listening to leftwitch!!

  32. Manny Says:

Everyone who is saying brady is washed, this really makes me laugh, why has not one person noticed that he is literally 30 passses away from his 403rd str8 pass without a pic, which would be a new nfl record. If brady was calling all his own plays, this offense would look so much different. I swear to god. I will say the offense shouldbt ve getting credit and the defense should. The defense has been playing pretty excellent this season. The punter was just just silly good last night and succop has to be the offensive mvp. That man is the best bucs kicker in years and in perfect timing

  33. LakelandSteve Says:

Evans took a nasty shot in the ribs. We will know more maybe later in the week but my bet is he was probably in a lot of pain unless the Doc shot him up at halftime. Evans is a warrior and tried to play through it but I think it definitely affected his play.

  34. David Says:

It should be real obvious to everyone by now, especially the coaching staff!!!, this is a pass first team. Mix in a few runs to keep them honest and to set up play action but stop trying to run the ball so much!!
When they do run, they need to use White more and more and more. He seems like a capable blocker and a real good receiver. His vision and explosiveness to the hole seems better than Lenny

  35. David Says:

I don’t know if they purposely went away from the main guys late or if that’s what the defense was giving them. I was at the Game and in the last several minutes they were playing 10 or more yards off of Scotty Miller the entire time. It was easy to just throw to him and get 7 to 10 yards a pop.

I love Scotty but… He is not that valuable of a receiver. He is not quick and shifty. He proves over and over that he can’t do anything except run a go route. His speed threat is why he was given a cushion but every single pass he caught inside of 10 yards has no chance of him breaking free for more.

  36. Christos Says:

I dont know what is wrong with the Offense, it so bad that you cant explain it. So many things are not clicking.
First game at Dallas we run the ball at them and we saw that as a positive that the running game is alive. But after that we cant run the ball to save our lives for 8 games. Its baffling. You would think even by luck, by the opponents having a bad day, by statistical probabilities that we ll run the ball good in a couple of these 8 games. But nooooo.
The Offense still after 9 games looks like they are in OTAs and trying to install things. I dont know
    Go Bucs

  37. orlbucfan Says:

ME13 was crunched by 3 Rams in the first half. Somehow, he stumbled, walked off the field. I figured he was done for. He disappeared somewhere on the sidelines cos I was watching for him. I bet he got painkillers. Next thing, he’s getting a very tight ace bandage wrapping on the sidelines. They showed it. He pulled his jersey down and got ready to come back out. He did. Now, if the fossil got hit like that, would he show up?
