CBS Projection: Bucs Easily Win NFC South

November 19th, 2022

Bucs coach Todd Bowles.

It seems CBS bought a computer. And who knows if prickly Pete Prisco programmed it?

This much is clear, per John Breech of CBS Sports, CBS computer projections for the 2022 playoffs include the Bucs.

The Bucs are currently clinging to a one-game lead in the rotten NFC South with a 5-5 mark. That will grow over the next seven weeks, Breech documents.

The Buccaneers are here almost by default. The computer thinks the NFC South is a bad division and that the Buccaneers will be the only team that from the division that finishes the season with a winning record. As a matter of fact, the computer has the Buccaneers winning the division by three games over the second-place Falcons.

CBS projects the Bucs will be the No. 4 seed in the NFC facing the Daniel Jones-led Giants in the first round at The Licht House. Joe would be good with that matchup.

Seattle, who the Bucs just manhandled, was named the third seed. If the Bucs are the No. 4 seed but are behind Seattle and win the NFC South by three games, that tells Joe the CBS computer believes the Dixie Chicks, the slimy Saints and the Stinking Panthers will crater the rest of the way.

    doesn’t mean much
    other than HFA

  2. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I like our chances against the NY Giants, in the playoffs.
We will have home field advantage, for what it is worth but NY Fans are known to travel, especially to Florida in the winter.

  3. Goatfarmer Says:

Bucs were supposed to easily beat the Steelers. And blow out the tanking coachless Panthers. Remember?

Yeah, that turned out great. Those two games were such an atrocity, most fans aren’t over it.

Nothing is easy for the Bowelswich Bucs.

  4. Mike C Says:

Why don’t you do something other than farm those goats.

  5. Beej Says:

We REALLY need to make #3 over the Seahags

  6. Miller5252 Says:

Let’s see how they look coming outta the bye week. I hope now Brady is back to being 150% all in and keeps his team heads down working with no rest. They really need to win out if they’re going to be considered a real contender again. They still have to go NO, and they just squeaked by before. That team still has that mojo over the Bucs until they route em to prove they broke that curse.

  7. Timbucs2 Says:

I do like our chances too, but I looked at the Falcons’ remaining schedule and it is pretty soft. I think it’s possible they go 9-8 and push the Bucs. I think if we continue to play like we did in Germany, we go 10-7.

  8. Cobraboy Says:

Kinda counting the chickens before they hatch, no?

  9. BA’s Red Pen Says:

The other teams in the division are garbage.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Does anyone think we will win if we are 5-12?

Nope……so that means we have to win some games…

Sure, we are likely…..but nothing is certain until we win

  11. Allbuccedup Says:

If the Bucs finish 10-7 they will win the division by 3 or 4 games. The second place team in the south will be 7-10 at best.

  12. BucsfanFred Says:

We are within range for the third seed. Especially if we beat SF.
Second seed will be either Philly or Min.

  13. Defense Rules Says:

There’s been a HUGE difference in our defense since Akiem Hicks healed up & rejoined the active roster in the Rams game. It’s convinced me that being able to stop the run FIRST is critical, just like Todd Bowles preaches. Make a team 1-dimensional, and they’re a lot easier to defend against.

For those who haven’t seen it, Casey Phillips did a great interview with Akiem Hicks over on the Bucs site. I came away really impressed with Akiem & what he brings to the table (as well as the route he had to take just to get to the table). Definitely worth spending a few minutes watching. I just hope that he AND Vea can both stay healthy through the rest of this season & the playoffs.

  14. Crickett Baker Says:

Yes, GoatF, I also don’t think this year’s Bucs will do much of anything “easily”, but I have faith they will do it.

  15. Redeemer Says:

Defense, IMO the success of the defense depends on those two. When Hicks was out, lineman were getting second level easy, and tying up our linebackers.

  16. captivajm Says:

if we go 7-0 from here ; we would likely be #3 seed which could give us better chance for 2 home games

we already beat Seabags , & when we beat jimmy G & 9ers; that would give us tie breaker against both of them for that #3 seed

  17. Goatfarmer Says:

Hicks is indeed the key for the front end. Now if we could
Only get Logan Ryan back for the secondary, maybe we’d intercept a pass again.

  18. D-Rok Says:

    DR,

I saw that interview with Casey Philips (she’s a great reporter, isn’t she?) and Hicks, and also heard Hicks mic’d up.

Hicks is one large and strong human with a silly sense of humor – I really like his demeanor. And his bench press and squat, too.

  19. NEfan Says:

With this coaching staff, the Bucs don’t win anything easily!

  20. HC Grover Says:

    Sounds good to me.

  21. brooks Says:

Nothing is easy ! Havent won anything yet except last game

  22. SteelStudBuc Says:

Saquan Barkley is killing it this year. I would not wanna see him in the New York cold.

  23. Carl L Says:

Led by white, Godwin, winnfield, others, the Bucs have developed a win when it’s necessary attitude since the super bowl win. The talent to win it all again is here, just don’t know about the desire . We have to be extra good due to our awful top 3 coaching staff. Go Bucs.
