Welcome To The Offense, Cade Otton!
October 9th, 2022It’s sort of fitting that rookie tight end Cade Otton had his first strong game after veteran tight end Kyle Rudolph dropped a pass over the middle on the Bucs’ opening drive today.
Otton, whose mother passed away a few weeks ago, was primed for major playing time against Atlanta with starter Cameron Brate missing the game with a concussion suffered last Sunday.
With 5 catches for 40 yards in just the first half, Otton is now know to Bucs fans far and wide.
Blocking issues have plagued the fourth-round pick (see the Chiefs-Bucs film) but he has blocking ability and today his hands showed up while getting his first real shot.
Otton volleyballed/dropped a short Tom Brady pass in the red zone, but otherwise he delivered a lot of hope for the position with his play.
The Bucs absolutely need production from the tight end position and Joe doesn’t have a lot of faith in Brate’s ability to hold up all all season and into February. Otton coming alive has Joe really fired up.

Why is Rudolph even on the team. He, Darden, and a few others just collecting checks. It’s a nice gig if you can get it.

Otton was a bright spot
October 9th, 2022 at 4:23 pm
Yup he looked pretty good.
Him and Goedke have a long way to go in their blocking ability though.
October 9th, 2022 at 4:25 pm
I was a Darden hater but he played well today and has not made big mistakes. He is a punt returner not a WR tho.

send rudolf to the north pole to help santa
October 9th, 2022 at 4:25 pm
Brady makes receivers. Givens, Branch, Welker, Edleman, Watson, Gronk, White, Lenny, Woodhead, Verden could Otton be the next?
October 9th, 2022 at 4:29 pm
Rookies showed well. I am formally eating my DardOn crow for Rashaad White, he played very well. Yummy
Dardung on the other hand showed once again why he is not fit for the NFL. Please get rid of the liability.

Rudolph needs to simply retire. He is stealing money. He was horrible in preseason and has been worse since. Does cutting him cost the Bucs cap, room for Suh?
October 9th, 2022 at 4:42 pm
Brady was throwing to Rudolph in a bad spot, his hands?
October 9th, 2022 at 4:43 pm
why are rudolf, jones ,darden and bernard still taking up 4 roster spots??
October 9th, 2022 at 4:47 pm
There were showings by the rooks. Hall. Otton. Rashaad (I eat crow). Hainsey. And JTS showed some stuff as a 3 man rush.
On the other hand, Jalame Dardung, the anointed best athlete on the team by someā¦ā¦wellā¦ā¦.pfft.
Enough before that lame player costs the Bucs a game.
October 9th, 2022 at 4:48 pm
Oops – Hainsey not a rook. But Goedeke – well he got mauled. But anyway.
October 9th, 2022 at 4:56 pm
Give Otton 1-2 more years. Great effort this day by him. We’ll wait and see if the rest of the year yields more production by Otton. I was impressed by the rookie.

very very pleased to see Otton join the offense today–it was a pleasureto watch just wait he will be seasoned by the playoffs

Darden had his best game. Not exceptional but maybe his best. Otton was a big surprise! He looks like a tank! Ain’t no cotton in Otton. D line looks pretty average. So does the O line. Hope Brady survives the season. Mike and 4nette are the offense.

THIS… .was one part of the game to come away from, feeling really, really good about.
It seemed SURE AS HELL that Tom developed a pretty good rapport with Cade Otten today.
Looking forward to seeing more.

Hopefully one of these weeks we can welcome leftwich to the offense instead of the other teams defense. Wtf is he doing? Getting beyond ugly. Three drives three and out up by 21 late. Used one minute in three drives. When you’re supposed to run the ball and clock. And learn the QB sneak. He almost cost em the game

Agreed. I have not been the biggest fan of the kid, but gotta give credit where credit is due. He was REALLY good in the Punt Return game today.

“Wtf is (Leftwich) doing?
Used one minute in three drives.”

YEP.
Unbelievably stupid.
Have defended him for a long time, but he better get his s**t together.
That was a joke.

HUGE PROPS TO CADE TODAY!!! Iāve been a big supporter of his since the preseason and he finally got to show his receiving abilities todayācatch after catch. Super impressive. And Ko had an amazing catch last week.
I said this before, but Cade, Ko and R.White are all excellent receivers and the three of them combined can make up for our losing Gronk. And as these 3 become serious threats to opposing Ds, itāll open up the field bigtime for Evans, Godwin, Gage, Miller, etc.
Hopefully Cade and Ko become our starting TEs. Rudolph is a bust. Brate is okay, but injured now it seems. Let Cade and Ko take over.

October 9th, 2022 at 6:07 pm
His nickname is COtten. It’s natural, Just feels right like Atrain.
October 9th, 2022 at 6:48 pm
Loved it. He looked good.
Rudolph looks like he needs to hang it up. I am surprised by that but it is what it is
October 9th, 2022 at 7:13 pm
Otton has very good hands. You gotta like that.
October 9th, 2022 at 8:19 pm
I like Otton, big kid with good hands SMART and I can see him improving more and more and becoming a bigger part of the offense. Go BUCS, Let’s sign OBJ Lol
