Someone Find Bruce Arians’ Red Pen

October 3rd, 2022

Terrible gameplans.

Joe thinks right about now the story that Tom Brady wanted to retire because Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians adjusted each week’s game plan with a red pen is one of the biggest nonsense tales heard in years.

Sunday night when Mike Evans caught a 13-yard pass from Tom Brady with 8:50 left in the second quarter, it proved to be the very first offensive touchdown for the Bucs scored in the first half this season!

The Bucs had played 201 minutes and 10 seconds of football in the first half of four games before finally scoring a touchdown.

Folks, garbage teams with a fraction of the talent the Bucs have are scoring touchdowns in the first quarter, much less the first half. Hell, the bogun Bears scored a touchdown in the first quarterback before the Bucs. Would you try to tell Joe that Justin Fields is a better option at quarterback than Brady? Please!

That flushing sound you hear in the background is Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich’s chances of being a head coach next year.

So that insane story that Arians was chasing Brady away and out of the NFL because he allegedly used a red pen to eliminate things from a gameplan that Leftwich had concocted sure smells like a total crock.

If anything, someone needs to find that red pen and use it each week on Leftwich’s game plans. Because whatever he is drawing up for the first half needs to be erased for good.

Leftwich needs to be fired. Period. He’s stubborn and not the smartest eggplant in the vegetable bin.

  2. Rod Munch Says:

The Glazers should have paid Jacksonville to hire Leftwich.

Just think of how much happier Brady would be if Leftwich wasn’t here. I mean seriously, how does Brady, who is older, obviously dramatically more successful, more experienced, better looking, better smelling, taller, in better shape, better spoken, etc – how does he take anything Leftwich says seriously? If I’m Brady, I’m holding my tongue, but I’m not actually listening to anything this loser has to say.

We scored 31 points – how is this on the O in any way?

The D shat the bed, period

We got DSmith, Evans, and Godwin and hung up 31 – we should win every time with that output

This game is SQUARELY on Bowles and the pathetic D

The opening kickoff fumble was just heartbreaking and killed all momentum in the first 10 seconds of the game

Unlike real quality defenses, we gave up Ole TD’s on both turnovers

  4. TAMPA BAY DEMON™ Says:

    RIGHT?????
    IMAGINE THAT.
Turns out that Bruce Arians had a whole HELL of a lot more to do with the success of this football team than some of you want to give him credit for.

I still believe in Todd Bowles.
I believe in Byron Leftwich too.

But Bruce Arians is a damn good coach, and he had a LOT to do with our success.

  5. ForReal Says:

I believe in Brady and Evans… If you believe in the rest of them… you will always be disappointed

  6. Goatfarmer Says:

When Rachel gifted them their first points it was obviously a track meet. Leftworst responded with a FG having Brady check down. The Brady offense didn’t start until we were already down by 18. Yes this was on the horrid D but you can’t stubbornly play like it’s still the Cowboys game week 1 when your D is obviously getting boatraced every play.

Maybe start Brady in no huddle against the Falcons? But, not empty. Please not empty. That was killer. And Gage was the perfect hot, Tom had no one to check to.

    Brilliant, Leftwurst.

  7. Bucsfan13 Says:

It was always BS. BA and Brady had a good relationship. At the end of OTAs, Brady said this team had “favorable passing conditions.” Granted, he said this before Jensen’s injury. His point was to tell Gage to step up. I don’t mind the team running the ball. The problem is don’t be so damn predictable. Look at KC. They ran the ball plenty, but just not on obvious passing downs. Mahomes was deadly efficient. Andy Reid is also an offensive mastermind.

  8. westernbuc Says:

If Brady actually drove BA out, he has to be regretting that decision.

  9. BucNasty Says:

@RodMunch , “better smelling” lol wth does that even mean? We had plenty good moments in this game. Once Godwin is full strength and we figure out how (or if) we want to use Julio – then we can develop a real strategy.

  10. JeffreyLane77 Says:

Todd Bowles and Byron Leftwich have been promoted to incompetence. Bowles is a good defensive coordinator and a below average head coach. Leftwich is a serviceable qb coach and a terrible offensive coordinator when left on his own. This team was out coached in every facet of the game today. Leftwich seems to call low risk low reward plays until we are two scores behind. Only then will he open up the playbook. It’s a tragedy this team has all this talent and Leftwich is so risk averse he won’t let Brady the greatest qb of all time air it out until its too late. Playing conservative until your two scores behind is a losing game plan against good teams. Maybe Leftwich wants to get the ball out fast because he doesn’t trust the Oline? Maybe he has other reasons. Whatever the reason this offense has been anemic in the first half so far this season. Leftwich is either too stubborn to move away from this approach or he doesn’t see it as a problem. That’s how you lose a locker room as a coach.

  11. PSL Bob Says:

Joe says, “someone needs to find that red pen and use it each week on Leftwich’s game plans…” Yes, and start with the plays where he runs Fournette up the middle on first downs.

  12. tampabayallday Says:

Leftwich has proven he can’t make the right calls. It’s bad bad.

  13. Lamarcus Says:

I dont offense was the problem…..Our defense and that fumble …let us down!!!

  14. Vinny from Vermont Says:

    Couldn’t agree more PSL Bob.

BL’s predictability on play calling in certain down and distance situations has become epic. His only trait that is worse is his ignorance of the tragic loss of offensive opportunity that is left on the field.

BL for HC?!! I wouldn’t consider him for equipment Manager

  15. Hodad Says:

I bet Arains is chopping at the bit to call plays from the booth. Hell, let’s not waste Brady’s last season, take a back seat BL.

  16. Ed Says:

As the game started the crowd was loud and fired up for a great game and the coaching staff and most of the team wasn’t as fired up.

The Chiefs offense attacked every opening the Bucs weak defense left open for them.

The Bucs offense until Brady took over was running in quicksand. Can someone please note that Leonard Fournette isn’t quick when he is first given the ball and that Leftwich offense is entirely predictable. Everyone can see the tendencies.

Only when Brady is passing and has a compliment of receivers is this offense moving. The running game stinks and the defensive line stunk.

  17. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Bring back Arians!! You could see him in the booth just eyeballing leftbrainwitch (right side of brain is creative side) thinking “where the hell is my red BAT!! Forget the red pen at this point!! Both my proteges need the whiffle ball bat upside the head!!”

  18. Bucs96NYC Says:

I didn’t wanna jump to conclusions but this offense before like the 2nd qrt of yesterday looked like the dink x dunk Pats offense. So Brady got his wish about wanting more control & we are seeing the results. I DO NOT LIKE THIS OFFENSE!!!!! Last nite didn’t help either.

  19. John F Ensch Says:

The guys the Bucs are betting on in the offesive line aren’t worth it. The guard and tackle on the left side need to be shown the door and quickley. They are the worst two linemen I have ever seen. They need a course in courage.

  20. Buffalo54 Says:

I don’t know for the life of me why they ever let JPP go AND Suh go ,they have Beasley why aren’t they using him more! Something is going on there ,they just aren’t connecting like they use to,they are not playing like the team we are use to!

JPP refuses to come off the field even when his dik is broken and he’s hurting the team.

Ah c’mon Joe it’s too early to be digging in. Give the man some time. Just 4 games in man! We’ve definitely seem some good and some bad. Maybe more bad, but they’re still 2-2 and at the top of the division. Lots of room to grow but fortunately there is still time.
