Ryan Fitzpatrick: They’re Going To Sleepwalk Their Way To 10-7

October 21st, 2022

Joe apologizes for the chilling Lost Decade photo.

Amazon has a Thursday Night Football analyst who knows a thing or two about Buccaneers football.

Ryan Fitzpatrick went 4-6 as a Bucs starter during The Lost Decade and played with Bucs like Donovan Smith, Ryan Jensen, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, among others. He also spent years with the Jets under Todd Bowles.

Fitzpatrick sees the Bucs and believes Tom Brady “seems a little disinterested this season,” so he told The Rich Eisen Show this week. He compared 2022 Brady to 2019 Brady in his final year in New England, from body language to clear frustration.

However, Fitzpatrick has no problem seeing good things for the Bucs and he has confidence in the defense bouncing back. “They’re going to sleepwalk their way to 10-7,” Fitzpatrick said, before adding that the Bucs have a strong chance to get right in the playoffs.

Up next for the Bucs is “a breather game” in Carolina, Fitzpatrick said.

Joe wonders what kind of communication about all things Bucs that Fitzpatrick has had with his Amazon colleague, Richard Sherman, who played for Tampa Bay last season and has stayed very close with former teammates.

Also, Amazon’s next game is the Bucs-Ravens on Thursday, and Joe wonders who Fitzpatrick might have been talking to about Brady to prepare.

A breather game? I’ll believe it when I see it. We’re a bad football team right now. Not just a little out of whack, they’re actually not very good at all. They have enough talent to get back to being pretty good if our OC gets his head out of his rear.

  2. HC Grover Says:

    parity has been achieved

  3. Redeemer Says:

    That M F?

  4. David Says:

I still think they will turn it around and get on a roll. Also, I think Fitzpatrick is an absolute moron and I don’t care what he has to say about anything

  5. tampabayallday Says:

honestly I can see this easily happening

  6. PanthersSuck! Says:

Last Sunday was “a breather game”.

  7. Lakeland Steve Says:

No such thing as a breather game for the Bucs this year.

  8. Bucsfan13 Says:

I’m so sick of this disinterested narrative. It has no basis in reality. Does a disinterested person try to pump up their teammates? If he were disinterested, he would behave like Aaron Rodgers and shrug his shoulders and stare into the abyss. People chide Brady for choosing football over his family. Would a person do that if he weren’t all in. The cognitive dissonance is amazing.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is on record saying he hates Brady because he feels that Brady snubbed him after the game. He has no credibility in discussing Brady. James Jones recently called out Big Ben for his comments about Brady. He said you can’t question Tom’s dedication. He said Big Ben is the one who is the king of looking like you don’t care out there.

Maybe Joe can post an article on James Jones’ comment since he was so quick to post Big Ben’s comments. And James Jones is no Brady fanboy. He’s been critical of him. His comments mean something.

Smart money is on the Panthers covering!!!

  10. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

If personnel changes are not made on the Oline and Dline , sad to say Bucs may get to 9 wins-may not- weakness in the trenches.

  11. Dre bucs fan Says:

We picked the wrong vets this year, i miss jpp, suh and crackhead AB! Lord knows Julio is a hall of famer BUT you can’t make the club in the tub. That also goes for Hicks and L Ryan…oh and where is Kyle Rudolph??? Does this guy even play for us anymore lol all i see is awhole bunch of has beens looking to ride Tom Brady coattail for a superbowl and that’s not a recipe for greatness!

  12. Howard Cosell Says:

Panthers are tanking the rest of this season for the #1 pick.
Therefore Howard gives Bowlswich a 50/50 chance of winning

  13. Howard Cosell Says:

^ That Hooters waitress above Howard’s comment is pretty hot

  14. PassingThru Says:

I disagree with Fitzpatrick, and I wonder what he saw of Brady in 2019 as he was a player and not a sports media pundit watching games. In other words, Joe Harvard is talking out of his posterior.

Brady didn’t sleepwalk through 2019, I’d characterize that season closer to being frustrated, angry, impatient, even pissed-off. It started in the preseason when Brady’s attempt at a multi-season deal was rebuffed by Belichick, who insisted on single-season contracts. Brady was rightfully pissed as he Both Belichick and the team were being ingrates.

That boiled over onto the field during the preseason. Brady inherited the worst WRs and TEs in football, though to be fair some rated Chicago’s only slightly worse. Both units had an inability to gain separation, forcing Brady to yell at them and throw the ball away (sound familiar?). While Tampa Bay has better receivers, their pass protection is far, far worse than the 2019 New England O-Line.

I think great athletes have a remarkable (if strange) ability to compartmentalize personal problems (Kobe Bryant is a shining example). I discount Brady’s personal life as being a cause. I think Brady’s demeanor speaks more to the personnel that he has to deal with while on the field. Brady back in 2019 never criticized his terrible receivers, or Belichick’s strange obsession with the running game, both of which seemingly denigrated Brady’s value. I do see parallels to 2019 and 2022, where you will see Brady flash anger and frustration on the field, and yet never a word criticizing the coach or GM. On the field Brady is a fiery competitor who hates being dealt poor hands. Off the field Brady is a company man.

Fitzpatrick got a 48 out of 50 on the Wonderlic, which is the NFL’s equivalent of an IQ test and he went to Harvard to boot. Perhaps you should look up the definition of moron, because a moron he is not.

  16. steele Says:

Maybe they should sign Ryan Connor McGregor Fitzmagic right now. Let him take punishment for several weeks until Jensen gets back. Then put Brady back in there.

There is no such thing as a “rest” week. Trap, more like it. Pittsburgh was supposed to be a rest game, too.

  17. Oddball Says:

Fitz’s presser in DJ’s bling was one for the ages.

  18. Bigdickdaddy Says:

Hopefully leftwich is gone after this season is over with he is not a good OC. Makes too many predictable calls and wants to have receivers run 3 or 4 yards before the first down mark on 3rd downs which is another problem we’re having is too many 3rd downs. No game is a breather game but we should get back in playoff form by playoff time

  19. Jeff Says:

Get ready for the Panthers last full effort of the season. Very close game. Bucs win by 3 in the last 10 seconds. Bucs 20 Car 17

  20. Redeemer Says:

    Bucs 149 Carolina 3

  21. DingleBerry Says:

Still baffles me to this day how someone at Nike could look at those uniforms and be like “yup these are perfect”

  22. Joe Says:

    What comment?

  23. HC Grover Says:

    Sunday is Bucs…v…Bucs

  24. Buc4evr Says:

Play calling has to change. This team doesn’t have enough talent to run the same plays like last year. What I mean is that when you are able to physically dominate your opponent, it really doesn’t matter if they know what play you are going to run. The Bucs can’t dominate any team, they are soft in the trenches on both sides of the ball. BL better step it up.

  25. Nick2 Says:

Tired of hearing the guy who gave 5 or 6 teams hope only to choke it away every time.

  26. Tye Says:

    Panthers packing it in….
    Saints are garbage…
Falcons do not have a roster as talented as the Bucs..

The Bucs should make the playoff by default…
With how many wins is difficult to predict with these coaches holding this team back!

  27. Nick2 Says:

Ryan Fitzpatrick analyzing Tom Brady is laughable.

  28. steele Says:

Brady is one of stalwarts who really cares. That’s why he’s pissed. Yes, he is having a troublesome time personally, but on the field, he is the same as he always is.

Where I do agree with Connor McGregor Fitzmagic is that Brady is frustrated, and there are similarities to his final Patriots season. Then, as now, his supporting cast was full of JAGs and underperformers who should be much better. When you can’t get your team fired up on elite level, despite your screaming and pushing, what can you do?

He almost singlehandedly fought back vs. the Rams, doing his job at the highest level, while the rest of the team, and D, collapsed. That dynamic unfortunately has extended into this seaso.

  29. Bucsfan13 Says:

@Joe. James Jones commented on Big Ben’s statement about Brady. He was on FS1 First Thing First

  30. Tap-Out Says:

Everybody has one …opinion that is and that quite normal and ok! Brady is distracted but is it affecting his play …I say maybe, maybe not, all I care about is that this team, my favorite team gets back to winning, starting Suday!

  31. David Says:

    D

I really do not care that Fitzpatrick went to Harvard. That means absolutely nothing. How intelligent he is has absolutely nothing to do with getting a degree from a University. There are plenty of morons in the higher education system, students and teachers.
The Wunderlich test isn’t much better. It is a way to measure decision making as football player.
I have seen enough of Fitzpatrick over the last decade and a half to know that the dude is an idiot

  32. August 1976 Buc Says:

Fitz is no idiot, the actual fact is he is a multimillionaire with a huge family, and living the american dream.
Sorry he is no idiot, wether you like or dislike the guy.
Was he a great QB, no, sometimes good and sometimes bad.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  33. Mackey Says:

Hate to say it. But I have a strange feeling the Bucs will lose this game against the Stinkin’ Panthers this Sunday. Welcome to the Lovie Smith era…Part 2.

  34. captivajim Says:

Fitzy is right .. 9-8 is also within reach !!! Bucs are quite capable of Bucs beating Bucs + who knows, couple of hammy injuries at the right time & a timely devin white penalty is all, thats needed…….

  35. bl4 Says:

So what happens if they lose to Carolina

  36. beano Says:

So many easy games! Why are we 3-3?

  37. mg Says:

Time to fire the coaching staff.
    and hire Payton

  38. Mike C Says:

You are not wrong captivajim, it could also go the other way, after all we do have the greatest of all time and 2020 did not start out roses.

  39. Beeej Says:

I guess I don’t care about my family either, I leave every Monday morning and don’t get back until Friday

  41. Your Mom Says:

jeez doesn’t a Harvard guy know the difference between “uninterested” and “disinterested”?

  42. Pickgrin Says:

Geez those alarm clock uniforms were UGLY

  43. Jackson4983 Says:

What exactly has Ryan Fitzpatrick done in his NFL career?

  44. Joe Says:

What exactly has Ryan Fitzpatrick done in his NFL career?

Lose. A lot. But Joe is guessing facial hair gets you jobs. 🤷‍♂️

  45. Crickett Baker Says:

Meh. Fitz was more exciting half the time as a QB than as a commentator. It’s not saying much but he had several times when he made the game much more exciting than Brady has done in the last 6 games. I wanna see an exciting game from our Bucs. LFG!

  46. RobSinger Says:

People never learn. How many times has Brady proven critics wrong during his career? “He’s too old”, “it’s mostly Bellichick”, “he’s washed up”, “he’s slow and skinny”, “he’ll never get a start over Bledsoe”….on and on and on. And it all started with being the 199th pick out of 200!

All this noise and BS about him quitting mid-season because of “marital problems” and “attending Kraft’s wedding over caring about practice” is EXACTLY what it takes to pump him up and take this anemic team back onto his shoulders. So keep it up media idiots, and you very likely WILL get a Josh Allen vs. Tom Brady Super Bowl this year.

And guess how well Tom treats the Bills….
