Huge Endorsement Of Luke Goedeke

October 12th, 2022

Rookie right guard Luke Goedeke

Rookie left guard Luke Goedeke has a very big fan at One Buc Palace. Why? Because Goedeke is showing special traits on the field.

That was the word from 10-year Bucs defensive lineman Will Gholston. He joined the Buccaneers Radio Network and was asked about Goedeke and first-year center Robert Hainsey.

“I like the way Luke’s getting nasty out there,” Gholston began. “Like last game I saw him pushing a couple of people over the pile, you know, driving a little bit after the whistle. I like that nasty stuff coming from an O-lineman.”

Gholston said “Hainsey is extremely smart” and gave the team good looks on scout team duty last year, but clearly Gholston’s interest was in showing rookie Goedeke the big-time love.

“But back to Luke, I think Luke’s going to be nasty. He’s going to be a good guy,” Gholston continued. “Getting that confidence under him, like I feel like coming into the league it’s all about he confidence you acquire. And the more confidence he gets for every game, I’m pretty sure he’s going to be able to lay it down and solidify [left guard] all the way.”

Joe is impressed by Hainsey’s consistency as he learns the center position. And Joe agrees with Gholston when it comes to Goedeke blossoming into a Ryan Jensen-like figure. More and more each week, it seems opposing defenders don’t like Goedeke.

Yes, rookies make mistakes, but the evidence shows Goedeke is growing while fighting elite competition. And his confidence is more evident, as Gholston said.

Joe’s eager to see the December version of Goedeke.

    Speaking of Jensen…

Odd that nothing has ever been mentioned about his injury, his recovery time. Nothing, zip, nada.

    🤔

  3. Derek Says:

Why won’t they say anything about Jensen’s injury? So weird

  4. sasquatch Says:

We’ve got Goedeke, Hainsey, and Wirfs to solidify that line for years to come. Should be good. Just need to find a long term answer at RG and groom Donovan’s replacement.

  5. Timbo Slice Says:

I’m hoping he does turn into something special. That being said, I have an eerie feeling it’s RoJo 2.0 with all this “let’s hype him up to get his confidence going”

I, as a casual football fan and by no means an expert, only seem to see him chasing Dlineman after they blast through his arm blocks. Hopefully he gets some traction and finds it soon.

  6. Hodad Says:

Goedeke needs to adjust to the speed of the game, and get his pad level lower. He plays to high at times. That will come, can’t teach nasty tho.

  7. Goatfarmer Says:

Gholston is a good dude and the ultimate teammate. He’s going to offer optimistic words of encouragement, especially since it isn’t Gholston getting blasted when Goedeke misses a block.

Listen to Brady’s pudcast, talking about Grady Jarrett nightmares. That is a not so thinly veiled expose’ into the rookie’s current performance level. But by golly he needs to improve so we shall all cheer for him to do just that.

None more so than Brady and Fournette.

  8. Mr. Editor Says:

Yes, but what does Ian Beckles think about him? That’s all that matters, right?!

  9. AbucAway Says:

The kid stays in the picture. That’s all we need to know.

But seriously, Jensen update please. This ridiculous the team is t offering a timeline for his return.

  10. Defense Rules Says:

Big Will doesn’t BS people. If he says Goedeke is ‘going to be nasty’ I believe it. Sounds good for Hainsey too. Bucs have the nucleus for a strong OLine for years to come.

And Donovan’s only 29 right now. He’s got another 4 or 5 good years in him, IF that’s what he wants. Keeps getting better & better every year. The fact that The GOAT at 45 trusts him to protect his bling side should tell folks all they need to know.

  11. Defense Rules Says:

Bling side? Hmmm, better make that BLIND side.

  12. Kentucky Buc Says:

Goat doesn’t wear bling but if he did Donnie would protect it.

  13. Steven007 Says:

Mr Editor, we’ll probably hear on Saturday. Often we get an Ian article then blasting the Bucs about something or other.

  14. Lakeland Steve Says:

    Amen

  15. steele Says:

It serves little purpose asking anyone inside One Buc about anyone on the team. Everyone’s great. Everyone works hard, makes plays, great great. Unanimous, expected, company line.

Goedeke and all of the young guys are getting trial by fire. That’s fine, if you’re an ordinary team in an ordinary season with a long-term window of 3-5 years. But to do this budget-friendly trial by fire risks Tom Brady’s final season. What should be an all-in red carpet ride padded with depth, veterans and star talent, an easier job for Brady, is instead an experiment with green rookies and JAGs filling roles left by you know who, you know who else and other greats.

Same question now as months ago. Is this all-in or isn’t it? If not, fine, go ahead and mess around. Take chances. Just don’t be surprised at season’s end if your new guys blew key plays and the season.

Goedeke has been badly rag dolled and beat in every game. He has also done some good work, but the bad ones exposed Brady to key sacks and other game-swinging moments. Hainsey, same, although he is ahead of Goedeke. He is not Jensen. Goedeke is not Marpet.

  16. Pewter Power Says:

Ryan Jensen is the key, I think Luke would be even better when he comes back. Didn’t realize how valuable Jensen was and can’t wait to get him back

  17. Joe Says:

    But seriously, Jensen update please.

What’s there to update??? He poured concrete for the foundation to his new home in Colorado. There. There’s an update.

If there was really something to update, you think Joe would actually bury that or hold it confidential? C’mon now.

Joe saw him walking without a brace Sunday. Slight limp. 🤷‍♂️

If the Bucs play into January. Mmmaaayyybbbeee he might be taken off IR. This hasn’t changed since August.

  18. Bucs Win Says:

I guess people are never supposed to be critical of any of our Bucs. It’s so funny how y’all get your panties all wadded up when Beckles gives his opinion. Y’all remind me of the “I think the Bucs are great,” sound bite from back in the day. Toughen up Snowflakes.

  19. Kentucky Buc Says:

Chill people. I’ve watched Brady grind out seasons like this for twenty years. If we have decent health when it counts the Bucs will be in the mix at the end .

  20. Winny Testaverde Says:

Playing through the whistle can be good. He’s getting manhandled a bit by technicians like Jarrett. He’s about 25 pounds too light to play guard ( easy for me to say ). Good for Marpet…but sure could have used him for Brady’s swan song in Tampa. Maybe he would have stayed ( and no shed so much weight ) had he known Brady was coming back 40 days later.

  21. Rod Munch Says:

It’s almost like Licht knows more about offensive lineman than the dopes who post in the comments here who demanded we trade for someone, anyone, this kid is a bust, etc.

  22. ScottyMack Says:

Some people here just amaze me. They act like the Bucs have some sort of choice in the matter and that they should have gone out there and gotten some proven O-Line veteran – you know, one willing to play for peanuts (cause that’s all the Bucs have left under the cap, folks).

It is what it is and whether the Bucs veterans are blowing smoke up your @ss or not, nothing is going to change. Might as well support what you have and hope things continue to improve because nothing is going to change on the O-Line front for most of the rest of the season.

Oh, and by the way, Brady is one of the least pressured QBs in the entire league this year. Look it up!

  23. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

I would love to see Goedeke with Jensen no one going to f with us

  24. Kentucky Buc Says:

    #GRIND

  25. Buccos Says:

Just wait until Goedeke or Hainsey get injured. Then you can start to worry. For now, the best man we’ve got for the job is the rookie and he earned that spot in the preseason and has continued to earn it and he looks to be about the same size as Marpet, although I am sure he will continue to grow into the position.

  26. Goatfarmer Says:

Buccos hits nail on head. The issue is depth as much as skill. Get another big bartender or two to come in and be there to replace Leverett when Leverett replaces an injured Goedeke and then Leverett gets injured. Bring him in early enough to,learn the offense and pour some drinks.

    And, Suh.

  27. Kgh4life Says:

To his credit, Goedeke has gone against some of the best DTs in the league, so he’s bound to look silly on most reps. This upcoming Sunday won’t get any easier with Heyward.

  28. MadMax Says:

    Rookie RG? He’s rookie LG!

    Come on Joes lol.

  29. MadMax Says:

He’s a rook, cant put too much blame on him being thrown into this kind of fire with what we’ve got going on. Please just stay healthy Luke!

Thats all we can ask for.

  30. TampabayDJ82 Says:

Bucs are going to get it done ✅ Everyone in the NFL has had their own issues. Throw the ball to Evans more than 4 times a game and the Bucs will win a lot of games. Go Bucs

  31. PassingThru Says:

    Happy talk.

  32. captivajim Says:

seems none of the reporters at press conferences have any interest in asking about Jensen ???

  33. SOEbuc Says:

JENSEN TRADE after this year. That free’s u

A little strange to see JOE so sarcastic. You have people here every day who support & follow the site and are big fans. He just was asking for an update. Any reason for the biting sarcasm? — JOE not enjoying this anymore?

  35. TAMPA BAY DEMON™ Says:

Kinda pisses me off. Maybe need to go elsewhere.

A little strange to see JOE so sarcastic. You have people here every day who support & follow the site and are big fans. He just was asking for an update. Any reason for the biting sarcasm? — JOE not enjoying this anymore?

No! Just that Joe thought it was abundantly clear back in August that Jensen very likely was out for the regular season and the team hoped he might make it back sometime in the playoffs.

Bowles was asked about this yesterday and he openly scoffed and said, “That’s a long way away.”

(Jensen did post pictures on Instagram last week of workers pouring concrete for the foundation of his new home.)

  37. SOEbuc Says:

If Brady isn’t playing for the Bucs next year…

    TRADE JENSEN after this year.
TRADE OR REWORK DONOVAN SMITH after this year. They are both not getting any younger, we can still get a nice chunk of change back and players and picks. Need to start building this young team to develop post GOAT era (whenever that might be).Keep killing it in the draft. Arians in the FO recruit the next OC. One thing that has been very bad with Jason it is his coaches over the dead decade.

Clueless about their QB plans whenever Brady leaves the Bucs in any which way

Hey how about a podcast with him. Should be more exciting then watching concrete dry.

  42. HC Grover Says:

    Mason is also playing well.

  43. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

I never fear when Licht drafts an offensive line. He has been spot on each time. If there is a future pro-bowler in the 7th round and he is drafted by Licht, you trust the guys is going to be great.

  44. Destinjohnny Says:

Ingram from lsu was the pick here
He playing at a much higher level

  45. SlyPirate Says:

THE STORY IS HAINSEY (not Goedeke)

How many times have we mentioned Wirfs or Mason this year? Zero. That’s because they are doing a great job. How many times have we mentioned Hainsey? Zero.

Hainsey has come in for Jensen and locked down the position. Does Jensen even start when he returns? Do the Bucs cut Jensen next year? Tough to keep Hainsey on the bench the way he’s playing.

  46. Jb Says:

PFF shows Luke struggling. Hainsey kicking butt Jensen gone. Hopefully LG comes around but right now is weak link.

  47. Joe Says:

    PFF shows Luke struggling.

Which means he’s doing quite well.

  48. garro Says:

Yes, but what does Ian Beckles think about him? That’s all that matters, right?!
Beckles was an average NFL guard at best and over the years he has lost any credibility with me. Right now He’s right there with Steven “Asshat” Smith!

  49. garro Says:

Many here need to think about the Jenson situation a bit more…Maybe Jenson himself doesn’t want his diagnosis blasted all over the overzealous and corrupt media?

  50. Goatfarmer Says:

Huge FAILURE of Luke Goedeke. It’s been obvious for at least two weeks now. TIme to make a move.
