“Things Are Gonna Change And Things Are Changing Right Now”

September 22nd, 2022

“I’m not a patient man, Clyde.”

Remember all those drops against the Saints on Sunday? And it wasn’t just the stone hands of Bucs rookies.

Former Bucs cornerback Richard Sherman saw all the drops by Bucs pass catchers and he painted a picture of Tom Brady sounding a fire alarm at One Buc Palace after the game.

“Things are gonna change and things are changing right now,” Sherman said of the Bucs drops and the signing of veteran receiver Cole Beasley.

If the drops continue, Sherman said on the podcast that bears his name, more new receivers will find their way onto the Tampa Bay roster.

Sherman said he knows what a massive win over the Saints meant in the Bucs locker room. And he’s confident Tampa Bay will do whatever it can to start fast offensively against the Packers on Sunday in the Bucs’ home-opener.

However, Sherman isn’t sure the Bucs have the horses.

“They’re going to try to attack this Packers defense but who are they going to attack them with? That’s the question,” Sherman said.

Joe can’t answer that question if Mike Evans (suspended), Julio Jones (knee) and Chris Godwin (hamstring) are on the bench. The tight ends have eight catches combined for 20 yards, and there’s only so much workload Leonard Fournette can shoulder.

Hopefully, the injury report looks a lot different by Friday afternoon.

    JPP > JTS

  2. geno711 Says:

Yes, but going forward JTS > JPP

  3. #8 Says:

Patience is a virtue, but I don’t have the time.
TB12 throws TD’s to new recipients Sunday!
    Suh.

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I’m hoping for big games out of Perriman & Gage……and we absolutely must involve the TEs & RBs into this offense more.

Drops will happen but we had them from Lenny,Kieft, White, Perriman & 2 from Scotty….and, I’m probably missing some.

  5. D-Rok Says:

JPP signed with Ravens, so there’s (not) that to discuss anymore.

  6. D-Rok Says:

If our top 3 WR’s can’t go against the Pack, it will be tough sledding for the O. Let’s see what the backups are made of.

  7. CrackWise Says:

I can answer the question. Its the same one I have been advocating for throughout the first four games.

SMASHMOUTH football, IS IT any coincidence that we are facing a team that is tring to do the same thing???

We MUST stay committed to the running game!!! Even if it doesn’t work out as well as we would like.

Control the T.O.P. and keep the D fresh!!! If we continue to do this, we will be 4-0!!!

No doubt in my mind, GET all the young guns on O CONFIDENT and then??? The sky is the limit.

I still think ME will put up HUGE numbers. NOW it will have to come against KC but WE are right on schedule DEVELOPMENTAL wise.

Enjoy this weekend folks, then HUNKER DOWN!!!

  8. Scooter Says:

Gronk can see how desperate Tommy is, his absence I feel means he’s done playing.

  9. David Says:

I expect to see a lot more of White yo spell Lenny. I’m just going by the Packer games I watched. It looked like White’s style will do well against them.

As for receivers, Miller better not have a drop or we might not see him again. I expect Gage to you have a big game. Some Perriman and Otton.

Any word on what’s going on with Kyle Rudolph?

  10. Mike Johnson Says:

If neither Jones or Goodwin plays against the pack, we will see what we are made of without them. Brady will throw but somebody has got to step it up. If they don’t, we will not beat the packers. Because you already knowing favre gonna be gun slinging.

  11. Goatfarmer Says:

Rachael White is so overhyped. Stands there and stares at the line like looking at a menu trying to figure out what to order. Can’t block. Can’t catch. But looks good in shorts.

  12. Kentucky Buc Says:

Beasley coming for somebody’s job. Great hands.

  13. Crickett Baker Says:

If Beasley isn’t ready to play, maybe we could try him out as PR and KR. He used to be good at that and so far (imo) no one on the Bucs has been.

  14. Bowles4President Says:

JPP is a Raven now. I’m not sure that shoulder has much tread left though

  15. Coburn Says:

Crack yeah I’m calling for some old school I formation with Vaughn and kieft lead blocking or blitz pickup with Vaughn dump offs

  16. Bucsfan13 Says:

“Tampa Bay pass catchers have cost the Bucs an estimated 22 Expected Points Added (EPA) due to drops this season. 5 of their 7 dropped passes would have been guaranteed first down”.This is from Sportradar. I listened to the most recent podcast and Ira wants to place the entire blame on the offensive struggles on Brady, and it couldn’t be further from the truth. I love the Sage, but Brady actually had one of his best games against the Saints. Besides the fumble, he didn’t make a stupid pick by forcing the ball as he’s done in the past. The box score says he went 18-34. If you add in those drops, he would be 26-34, and the narrative would be different.

Our offensive struggles are because of poor play calling, execution, and injuries. It’s obvious that Bowles has sent out a directive to the offense that he wants to run the ball more. This isn’t Leftwich’s show anymore.

  17. Defense Rules Says:

Crackwise … I agree with your ‘formula for success’ but you need to add 1 key ingredient to that: CREATE TAKEAWAYS. That’s our bread-and-butter when it comes to defeating teams like the Packers & the Saints.

When we beat the Packers in 2020, our offense gave the ball away 3 times, yet we still won 31-26. Reason? We took it away from THEM 2 times, and scored TDs on BOTH of those (but our defense held them to 1 TD in our 3 giveaways). Took our offense 31 seconds and 6 plays to score those 2 TDs, and that was the difference in that game.

In 2 games this year, Packers have given it away 3 times & only taken it away once. If our defense can get a couple of turnovers, and especially in their end of the field, our offense should be able to capitalize. COMPLEMENTARY FOOTBALL.

  18. MonkeyMan Says:

    @bucsfan13

Totally agree with your point on Ira! I don’t get what his deal is blaming it all on Brady?!? How could you possible watch the last two games and come to that conclusion??
He also never mentions all the receivers being out, different O-line, no gronk, etc. Its all just Brady’s fault. The same guy that hit P in the end zone against the Taints.

  19. Listnfrmafar Says:

If Brady wanted a shatty offense he would of stayed in NE. It’s no wonder he wanted to go to Miami, how they doing?

  20. Mike C Says:

You are a funny guy Listnfrmafarm

  21. Josh Says:

Beasley signing was an admission that gage was not the guy they thought they were getting. Beasley will be the 4th receiver on the depth chart and likely the main slot receiver going forward. Probably 6 or 7 receptions a game. If bucs win first 3, I doubt Godwin is rushed back before november..

  22. Defense Rules Says:

Josh … Gage is doing extremely well IMO. He’s been targeted 8 times in 2 games and caught 7 of those (87.5%). Only 41 yards but 15 yds were before the catch and 26 yds after the catch. I like that ratio for a slot receiver. He’s getting the job done. We’ve just been running it a lot more than in years past.

  23. SufferingSince76 Says:

Let Tom call the plays and everything will be alright.

  24. Listnfrmafar Says:

DR, I agree, I think he is still injured because his after the catch numbers are not very good. He was shifty while in Atlanta.

  25. Josh Says:

I honestly didn’t know he had caught 7 of 8. He’s seemed non existent out there. We need a lot more out of him this week. So I guess we’ll have to wait and see if he can put up more than 4 rec for 25yds. I still think Beasley will play a big role on this team though. Dude is clutch and plays like Edelman.

  26. Mike Says:

I’m still wondering why they haven’t brought back Grayson. He must really be injured, or he was messing around with the coaches daughter or something.

  27. Mike Says:

Actually, just read that Grayson can’t be signed by the Bucs until after 8 games due to the injury settlement or something like that.

  28. StickinUp4Centers Says:

    Mike,

The Bucs reached an injury settlement with Grayson. This move allows Grayson to sign with any other NFL team once he’s fully healthy, but won’t allow him to return to the Bucs until Week 8.

  29. Anonymous Says:

We all must have short term memory loss ….Tom 12 Brady was the one who missed 11 days of camp!

  30. mg Says:

wonder if those receivers could catch covid?

  31. Defense Rules Says:

Josh … I find myself doing that all the time (overlooking the guys who don’t get the big numbers or make the splashy plays). Happens a lot with RBs it seems. They’re being thrown to very near the LOS and so they may only get a few yards with each reception, thus they’re easy to overlook. But those numbers mount up. Guys like Fournette become very valuable when they catch 82% of the balls thrown to them like he did last year (as in roughly 5 out of every 6 balls targeted to them?). Impressive considering that most of the opposing team is in front of you when you catch it, just itching to take your head off as soon as you catch it.

  32. unbelievable Says:

According to data from NFLverse and Sportradar… the 7 drops from the Bucs have cost them 22 points already!

5 of those 7 drops would have been 1st downs or scores.

  33. brooks Says:

    Gronk sighting on dale mabry

  34. MadMax Says:

Time for Gage to earn his, and Perriman to keep stepping up (Im glad we kept him)

Where’s Miller? Come on man, get on it!

Cole will be a nice addition…..great hands….teach those to Miller please.

  35. Rod Munch Says:

Bucs win this game on defense. Rodgers STINKS against the Bucs, it’s by far his worst matchup for some reason. Just get in Rodgers face, make sure you put him on the ground, and if you can frustrate him he’ll quit on his team, just like he did in the 2020 game in Tampa.

  36. Jeffrey Lane77 Says:

I remember back when Brady came to Tampa. You could tell by watching the game. That “lfg!” Brady throws way harder than practice Brady. I think some of our receivers were reminded that Game Day Brady has some zip on the ball. The ball is getting to the receivers a tiny bit sooner then they are used too. If one player has the dropsy’s ok. It’s that player. But that many recievers?? Maybe it is the Qb…

  37. Bucsfan13 Says:

@JeffereyLane. That’s BS. These are damn NFL receivers. Those were catchable balls. Brady is know for his touch. He throws very catchable balls. Watch the game again! Steve Young even said those passes were catchable. Those drops by Kieft and White were egregious. Do you want Tom to walk the football over to them and place it on their chest. Jerry Rice said if the ball touches his hand he expects to catch it. It’s not like Brady is even the realm of arm strength of an Allen or Herbert. Catch the damn ball!

  38. Bucsfan13 Says:

@LMAO. Goatfarmer. Totally agree about White. He needs to hit the damn hole with authority. Not everyone can do the whole Leveon Bell patience at the line. And the whole good receiving back thing we heard about White? Where has it been?! Ive seen dropped passes and no explosiveness. The next James White?! Give me a damn break. Brady is sorely missing that reliable third down back. After that big drop, White didn’t see the field much. How much patience will Leftwich, more importantly Brady, have will White? Let Sneak cook!!

  39. Goatfarmer Says:

Sneak time. Healthy and itching to beast. Time for another 52 yard TD run.

  40. teacherman777 Says:

    Beasley is an anti-vax hero.

An undrafted white boy rapper and OG hippy thug.

I Love Beasley. So does God Almighty.

    Go Bucs!

(And good luck to JPP- one of the greatest Bucs of all time).

JPP played with more heart and fire in 1 year, than GMC played with in his entire career.

  41. darengibo Says:

Where the heck is Kyle Rudolph??? wasn’t he going to be the offensive pass catching TE??? I mean if the Bucs want to pay players to NOT even suit up, they can sign me to a team friendly contract of oh, let’s just say 1.5 million. Oh and list me as 3rd punter or something as i don’t want to blow a hammy.
