Report: Akiem Hicks May Miss A Month

September 20th, 2022

Update.

The Bucs are learning the hard way that when you sign injury-prone players, they get injured.

So now two key pickups signed this summer, Julio Jones and Akiem Hicks, never made it past the second game before getting shelved.

Adam Schefter of BSPN reports Hicks is expected to miss a month with his foot injury.

AdamSchefter: Bucs’ DT Akiem Hicks tore the plantar fascia in his foot and is now expected to be sidelined a month, per source.

So now the Bucs are down two starters for who knows how long.

When you bring in brittle guys, don’t be shocked when they break.

  1. Bucsmarley Says:

    Suh

  2. I’m not tired anymore we just won the Super Bowl!! Says:

We all said Suh and nobody listened. Wasn’t like we didn’t think Hicks was good we just knew Suh was more reliable. Go grab Suh now! Go Bucs!

  3. Buc4evr Says:

Why didn’t Jason see this coming? The guy has an injury history and didn’t even last 2 games. Seriously, signing this guy was stupid. Need to sign Suh asap.

  4. George Says:

I am in the sign up Suh Camp.

This is injury is going to be for more than a month.

  5. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

Joe, this story that you wrote Sunday…unfortunately didn’t age well LOL What can you do?

  6. OBVIOUS Says:

Me and a few others were on soap boxes begging for Suh to be added “somehow. And what you just read is exactly the tea leaves we were reciting from. This is NOT A SURPRISE. This was foretold.
    SUH
    GO BUCS

  7. Goatfarmer Says:

Cut Hicks injured and settle. Then sign Suh.

Hicks wasn’t doing deek for us when he was in anyway.

Still time for Suh to torture Rodgers!

  8. Buc4evr Says:

Didn’t Hicks only last six games last year? 2 games in and he will not be back in a month with a torn plantar fascia. More like full recovery will take the entire season. What a major mistake signing this guy over Suh.

  9. CleanHouse Says:

    Suh and JPP asap

  10. K2 Says:

I’m starting to agree with the guys that have been pounding the table to bring Suh back. He immediately improves the run defense…which has struggled just a little bit. Put Hick on IR and hope that he can get health for the playoffs!

  11. Hodad Says:

A man who weighs well over 300 pounds is going to need more than a month on a bum foot. If you’re going to replace an old player like Suh don’t do it with another old player with an injury history! Same goes with Julio Jones. Now we’re signing a 33 year old receiver.

  12. ElioT Says:

    Let’s go Suh!!!

  13. T REX Says:

Hicks was a bad signing. F-

  14. Elita Vita Says:

    # Suh

  15. Evo Says:

Sign suh when hicks comes back rotate suh, vita, hicks and they all stay fresh

  16. Melvin Junior Says:

Move-on… Hicks… Suh (unreasonable d!ck about the $$$, IF he ever really truly wanted to play in the first place)…It’s just Whatever. NEXT…

  17. Elita Vita Says:

…..and by the way is Rudolf still on this team?

  18. D-Rok Says:

Mr. #8, if you’re listening…props my man. You have steadfastly stated our need for Suh. Now, it appears you are completely correct.

  19. Winny Testaverde Says:

Body type/top heavy fellas almost always have trouble with their lower legs. This was a misguided signing it appears…almost like trying to teach Suh a lesson for not accepting less loot. Suh is built to last…Hicks is more or less done.

  20. Joseph C Simmons Says:

The problem is, the last half of last season, even Suh wasn’t Suh anymore. I wanted him back, too, as a rotational player with Hicks.

I guess he could rotate with Nacho. But Suh is a business man. He’s always been in it for the money. I’m sure his salary demands would be problematic.

    Hey…the other #93 is available.*

    *Just kidding. I know he’s not a run-stuffer.

  21. Bojim Says:

    Call Suh.

  22. Marine Buc Says:

    Big surprise… LOL.

Hey I have a great idea. Let’s sign a big bodied oft-injured has-been to replace SUH who has never been injured…

    OOOOOOOPs…

Sorry – but Hicks was the biggest waste of Buc bucs since Alvin Harper and Carl Nicks…

  23. D Says:

If #8 is correct and Suh is the answer as many claim, how come 31 other teams disagree? He’s either overpriced himself or doesn’t have much to bring to the table at his age.

  24. JP Says:

we should have just taken Suh ! Why waste time with signing someone who is injured so often. How many snaps has this guy had in the first two games. Now his what, $6MM is tied up in this benchwarmer.

  25. NCBucfan Says:

What a joke! On another note,I still think we should consider signing Odell at some point. I know he won’t be back until December, but even if he doesn’t play much, at least we can keep the Rams from signing him. Gotta think strategically sometimes.

  26. Buczilla Says:

F! Time to sign Suh. If Gronk wants to play, sign him too. All that matters is this year, screw the future.

  27. JP Says:

all these injured vets, Rudolph, Hicks, Gage? , possibly Julio , WTF ??!!! All that money tied up in benchwarming. Could have brought Suh back for his premium and at least he would be on the field, Perhaps even JPP, does his shoulder work ?

  28. SB~LV Says:

    Hmmm…

  29. Kody Says:

    SUH NOW

  30. SB~LV Says:

    Nice sales job Hicks !
Faked his health all through training camp .
    Nacho Time

  31. Seattle Buc is back in TB Says:

    Very disappointing…

  32. Gbobucsfan Says:

It’s early fellas……get healthy and be ready to wreck havoc !!!

  33. SB~LV Says:

    Brady is our
    Davey Crockett
    “Broken Arrow”

  34. Miller5252 Says:

Go with the young guys. They’re doing better then the old brittle players anyway.

  35. Anon Says:

Oh god guys be quiet better to have him heal up for when we will actually need him. This defense is legit, chill out.

  36. Greg Says:

    Protest for suh!!!!!

  37. Greg Says:

Protest at one buc place for SUH!!!!!

  38. Defense Rules Says:

Joe … ‘When you bring in brittle guys, don’t be shocked when they break’.

Sorry Joe, no Nostradamus Award for you on this one. Lots of us have been saying for months that we needed better interior DLine DEPTH because of Hicks’ & Vea’s injury histories. Somehow I remember you pushing for more WRs instead. OFFENSE was the name of the game with TB12 as captain of the Bucs’ pirate ship; DEFENSE was just ‘kinda there’. Of course my memory is getting foggier as I’m getting older, so I do have a bonafide excuse if I’ve misinterpreted these past few months.

  39. adam from ny Says:

at his weight, with plantar, he’s almost done for the year…

    #SuhSuhSuh

but notice they have kept #93 open…i think at first they gave it to nassib…then they switched him up to #94…

i think they might bring is gerald mccoy and #93 is waiting for him…

he will play for next to nothing to get a ring with the team he played basically his whole career for…

if he can score a ring with the bucs, he just might be able to pull off that he’s “rang of honor” material…

  40. JP Says:

McCoy’s quad tendon will pop in his second game !

  41. Buc king Says:

Suh suh suh suh suh suh suh….. SUH

  42. Rod Munch Says:

I’m shocked by this. I know when we signed him I thought he’d make it to game 3 before being injured – to go down in week 2, I’m shocked.

  43. Defense Rules Says:

Joseph C Simmons … ‘I wanted him back, too, as a rotational player with Hicks. I guess he could rotate with Nacho. But Suh is a business man. He’s always been in it for the money. I’m sure his salary demands would be problematic’.

I think that’s all anyone wanted Joseph; for Vea, Hicks AND Suh to man the DLine, with Gholston & RNR mixed in the rotation also. I admit that I have very little confidence in our rookie Hall … at this point … to have the same impact as big bodies like Vea, Hicks & Suh. As a DE/OLB … fine. And as our interior DLine goes, so goes our pass rush AND our run defense. THAT’S the heart & soul of this defense. We’ve got to shore up that interior.

I don’t blame Suh for wanting to be paid, even at age 35. But that’s not our problem. It can be worked out; that’s why they call them NEGOTIATIONS.

  44. Rod Munch Says:

I doubt the Bucs can pay Suh what he’d want, but if he’s an option, they need to make it happen.

I do, however, really like the idea of signing McCoy. The guy doesn’t need to be a leader, which you cupcakes seem to think is a big deal, but that no real man thinks is a big deal. Also, according to him, he’s staying in shape and ready to play. I’d love to see them bring him back and see what happens. Worst case he’s not up snuff anymore and he gets to retire as a Buccaneer. The hate for McCoy is truly that of demented morons who, like always, don’t actually understand football or what they’re watching.

Still, for this particular defense, I’d obviously bring back Suh first because he’s a better fit and knows the defense.

  45. Buc-a-near ring 3 Says:

I know Joe doesn’t want to here this but for this game at least……. S-U-H. He gave Aaron Rodgers HELL. I would have loved to see him own Kaaron Rodgers one last time.

  46. Jor Jor Binks Says:

    @SB~LV,

“Broken Arrow” is a great fookin’ movie w/ John Travolta and Christian Slater, tbh 😂

  47. JP Says:

why the F do we have Kyle Rudolph on the team ? Is he just a spacer between Nassib and the rest of the team in the showers ?

  48. sasquatch Says:

Well, I guess it’s Logan Hall time.

  49. OBVIOUS Says:

No Defense, your recollections are spot on. What your forgetting is one of these Joe’s took it even further and claimed that Suh was finished. And then some….
Somebody mentioned it earlier in the comments and I’m going to back up the statement the commenter made…. The injuries are Out Of Hand Everywhere!

    “BROKEN ARROW!”

  50. Beej Says:

I’m wondering if they gave Rudolph a physical, (and didn’t know how far he had fallen) else Brady practiced with a him a bit and announced he had no use for him

  51. JimmyJack Says:

Looking at just this Packers game I would assume Gholston is first in line to give us more snaps. We should be fine shorterm but seems unreasonable to think we can count on Hicks longterm.

  52. JimmyJack Says:

If Suhs salary is a priblem maybe the answer is to bring him in right at the deadline. Then you dont gotta pay for full season.

Maybe if we wait til deadline you can afford both Gronk and Suh?

  53. firethecannons Says:

yeah this guy was over rated!

  54. OBVIOUS Says:

I agree with Rod Munch on the idea that MCcoy is definitely worth considering. He does want it bad and even though he did get soft, I believe he “by now” understands that it’s time to play HARD! He wants it bad, we need depth bad, it could be a very good thing all around. I believe for Two Rings “Super Bowl and Ring of Honor”, he’d play hurt on one leg if he had to

  55. Ash Says:

I think they just wait on hicks I doubt they sign suh probably bring some young guys up from the practice squad.

  56. Goatfarmer Says:

The only way they sign Geraldine is to help the cheerleaders. She’s always been soft against the run and now has a PED suspension to go along with her other antics . She’s an attention whore and a disgrace to the position.

    Suh.

  57. Ash Says:

@rod we are definitely in the minority on this one but I wouldn’t mind seeing McCoy back with the bucs either. I was always a fan of his.

  58. CrackWise Says:

Did anyone else NOT notice he was even on the team the last two weeks?

    Yeah, me either.

I noticed almost everyone else. HECK, I even rewatched both game TWICE now and I still can’t notice him.

I am thinking its because everyone else was flashing.

    #NOWORRIES

  59. Rod Munch Says:

For those that care, and you probably shouldn’t, Gholston is the top defensive line player we have according to PFF – and he’s 60th out of 122.

Vita is 64th, Nacho is 78th, Hicks was 103rd and Logan is 118th – again, out of 122.

But these morons also claim Devin White is the 35th LB out of 77, and Davis is the 62nd DB out of 103.

The dopes at PFF do like Dean, who is 3rd out of 103, and they think Edwards (3rd of 71) is better than Winfield (6th of 71).

On offense they think Hainsey is the 5th best center in the NFL, Brady is the 10th best QB, but they think Lenny is 49th out of 60 RB. They also think, correctly in this case, Brate is our worst TE.

  60. Crickett Baker Says:

In the off-season I remarked that it seemed every player they drafted and/or signed had been injured. It seemed like a bad idea then and was very remarkable at the time. I am sad but not surprised. I was surprised when they did it.

  61. LOL Says:

    Suh

  62. Rod Munch Says:

Here’s one interesting PFF stat that I find to be completely unbelievable.

According to PFF, the Bucs have the 31st hardest schedule remaining (ie, the 2nd easiest).

Due to the Bengals being 0-2, and a bunch of the other opponents that are expected to be good (GB, SF, LAR, etc) being 1-1, it’s skewed the numbers quite a bit.

  63. MadMax Says:

Suh! Come back….team friendly please…you know we’re limited. And yeah, Hicks will need more than a month.

Im not gonna say it, but you know if that something else happens to someone else, we’re screwed on the D line in the pass rush AND run game.

  64. Rod Munch Says:

In the off-season I remarked that it seemed every player they drafted and/or signed had been injured.

    ———–

Not really, for example one of the reasons they had signed Russell Gage was that he had a pretty clean injury history – I don’t think he had missed any full games due to injury. Of course, as soon as he gets here, he’s one of the walking wounded.

  65. CrackWise Says:

I am in the bring back GMC camp. DUDE IS SOOOOOOO HUNGRY to prove himself to this team and most importantly FAN BASE!!!

Honestly, IF IF IF GMC came back and played the HERO role for REAL for this DL.

I would DEMAND that he be put in the RAFTERS next to 99

However, ICE CREAM Man is WASHED!!! BUT, give him a workout Jason, WE TRUST YOU and TODD!!!

I Do Love me some VENTAGE GMC however, IDC what anyone says. He put everything he had into being the best he could be. AND I LOVE THE MAN FOR THAT!!!

  66. Dooley Says:

Kind of what I doubted from the beginning of the Hicks signing, BUT I also mentioned if he gives us 11 games and contributes in that team we’ll break even and they isn’t totally off the table. Not gonna make this Suh vs Hicks, because that takes away from all the other guys we’ve got playing in that position like Gholston/Nacho/Hall and the rest of the guys who hardly get mentioned

  67. Rod Munch Says:

CrackWise – If GMC is in shape, like he claimed, you obviously give him a physical, and what teams do lately is give them a week or two on the practice squad to see if they’re actually read to play or not. I mean the team signed Sherman last year and the guy couldn’t break a 6.0 40-time, so it’s not exactly like you’re getting gems when you’re forced to sign guys in season because of injury.

Again, however, if Suh is at all a possibility, but that should be who the Bucs call first. They can use void years to pad out his deal – which is fine as it’s pretty clear Brady is done after this year and the team will be in a full rebuild next year anyways.

But if you can’t sign Suh, McCoy is at least looking into. The GRRRR IM SO ANGRY GRRRRRR ICE CREAM GRRRRR I HATE MCCOY HE LIKE BATMAN GRRRR COMICBOOKS MAKE ME ANGRY GGRRRR, crowd, they’re just going to always win and complain about everything, but they’re also the dopes who have the entire Bum Fights collection on VHS (not that there’s anything wrong with that).

  68. CrackWise Says:

Good stuff @Rod Munch MUCH appreciated!!!

  69. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    GMC wants to play

  70. tampabayallday Says:

    Logan Hall time to shine

  71. CrackWise Says:

Bro, there is a BUMs fight DVD collection??? Where can I find it. I am looking on E-Bay now!!!

  72. MadMax Says:

GMC at vet min? eh….why not. Cant hurt to try. Plus he can help our rooks.

  73. CrackWise Says:

OH my bad, I was searching for DVD, let me go back and search for VHS. IM SO EXCITED RIGHT NOW!!!

  74. MadMax Says:

    Lol, bumfights, ya’ll stupid hahaha

  75. Goatfarmer Says:

When last seen, GMC was getting runned over and killed as a Raiders backup. He done. He ain’t coming. He would be subtractive to the effort.

    And he’s not a 3-4 girl anyway.

    Suh.

  76. CrackWise Says:

    @Goatfarmer

You have milked her long enough have you not??? We are talking about bring back a LEGEND of the Lost Decade and letting him ride off into the sunset with some we deserved dignity.

You have to be a deeply afflicted soul to not acknowledge the dude was our best player on D for YEARS!!!

Cant blame HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE coaching and DRAFTING and what our QBs did…. (Jamins Wiston) on him being SOFT. Cuase that is just FAKE NEWS

He is fun to pick on cause, WHY NOT. But he was NEVER the problem!!!

  77. Irishmist Says:

    First Nick’s and now Hicks.

  78. Listnfrmafar Says:

How many games did Suh miss again???

  79. Irishmist Says:

We sign these guys expecting the thrill of victory, and what we get is the agony of da feet.

  80. CrackWise Says:

Ok, I over looked LVD just like everyone else… My bad LVD.

Bring Back the REAL 93 (in Tampa)

F Sue, he don’t want to be here anymore anyways!!!

  81. CrackWise Says:

    @Irishmist

Check yo sheet. We are 2 AND 0. DUMBY

  82. Leopold Stotch Says:

    Suh

  83. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

Well I said this would come to pass Jason Licht , so come correct and sign SUH NOW!!!!!!

Let me also remind you Jason Licht that I told you trading away our 1st Rounder to the Jags and not drafting a generational talent LB like Devin Lloyd was STUPID! Well it looks as if I was correct again Jason. Lloyd leads the Jags in tackles and was the highest rated rookie in the NFL at 87.1 by PFF in week 2 where he added in an interception as well as 11 tackles. Missing on a GENERATIONAL talent like Lloyd who will be the ROY on defense is why you are not a great GM. The question is will you ever be a great GM? SIGN SUH.

  84. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

    Hey Mist :

I got it, that was funny.

  85. CrackWise Says:

    @BucsFanSince1976

Yeah Jason is no more listening to you then anyone else on the message board.

We are Bucs Fans. We only care about what comes NEXT!!!

At least thats the Bucs Life and we are ALL GOOD sitting at 2-0 thanks to “JASON LICTH”.

But if it makes you feel better, congratulations on predicting failure. THATS not so hard to do now a days!!! Lets Go Brandon!!!

  86. CrackWise Says:

It wasn’t funny Mist. In fact, it was DUMB.

But I am laughing at yall. So there is that!!!

  87. unbelievable Says:

    Yup, this was the worry.

Thought we would at least get 4 games out of him though.

Torn plantar fascia at his size? I doubt he plays again this season.

  88. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

Getting that orange jumpsuit fitted for 45 to match his hair. Gray bar Hilton is a nice hotel I hear.

  89. CrackWise Says:

Seeings how you like rhymes. LMAO

    Sue belongs in a Zoo.

    McCoy is our BOY!!!

    So funny RIHGT??? @BucsFanSince1976

  90. CrackWise Says:

    @unbelievable

Still might get 4 games out of him!!! Hopefully the only games that MATTER!!!

But yeah I agree, that injury is hard to come back from!!!

  91. CrackWise Says:

    @BucsFanSince1976

Again, I am not looking into the past, I am looking at the present and future. SORRY that you are apparently suffering in more ways than I thought.

I mean, I thought you were just decisional thinking JL was listening to you. NOW we know your just DUMB and DUMBER!!!

  92. CrackWise Says:

“DELUSIONAL” not sure what decisional meant, BUT that likely applys too

  93. Mike Johnson Says:

Never thought I’d say it but…..time for SUH

  94. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

I always look down the road and see it all not just the car in front of me. The Blue bus will run over you and yours in November.

  95. CrackWise Says:

    @BucsFanSince1976

    What are you talking about???

I was saying lets got Brandon because he is a poster here that likes to dis JL.

Your weird and need some serious help bro.

Who brings their emotion political problems on to a sports blog that is talking about FOOTBALL players being hurt???

  96. CrackWise Says:

For real, all the tragedy in the world is not enough for you? Now you’re going onto sports blogs proclaiming a bus of whatever color on the rainbow will run people over.

Get a life you BUM!!! I will pay for the VHS to watch you fight even!!!

  97. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

Nice try on reversing course , but you rowed iyourself in to these waters-uhh look at your previous post to GoatFarmer-Fake News? we know what you are.

  98. Winny Testaverde Says:

Hot Rod calling others cupcakes and morons is like Kevin Hart calling people short. His love for Winny & McCoy tells us all we need to know…even if it’s with a fake tough guy tone and know it all effect.

  99. CrackWise Says:

    @BucsFanSince1976

I will pray for “you and yours” HE is the only one that can help you.

In the meantime, the only advice I can give you is, take down the strings connecting dots on your wall. You ARE CONSUMMED and in danger of hurting yourself and others!!!

  100. CrackWise Says:

Again, this is a sports blog. I come here to get away from MORONS. I am moving on now.

Whatever you say next, WELL, I am sure it will just further my point, YOU NEED SERIOUS HELP @BucsFanSince1976

Seriously, someone help this person. Lord knows what he will do next? Maybe he will be the one driving the bus that kills you and yours? IDK

  101. D-Rok Says:

C’mon, fellas. GMC is a super-reach. Suh is at least possible.

All I know is we can’t go 4-16 weeks without a heavy D lineman. Sign or promote somebody ASAP!!!

Suh? Sign Suh and worry about the money later. Hmmmm….

  102. Steven007 Says:

In addition to all of the rhetoric above, I am sure the brain trust is exploring the idea or at least possibility of a trade of some kind. When you’re all in for the season that’s when a trade makes sense. 31 trade partners out there.

  103. steele Says:

Hicks, Rudolph, Gage….all of these signings are contingent on Bucs doing health/injury due diligence, working these guys out before taking them. It’s always a gamble, but all looking like mistakes. They had opportunities to get creative and sign slightly younger guys with more reliability.

I was all for Hicks, but not as a standalone given his history, and here we are. Deal breaker. Pay him off, cut him, and get someone else.

Who’s out there in FA? No ideal options. Sheldon Richardson. Malcolm Brown. SUH. G Mac? No, not worth the risk. Might have to trade. I hate to see them throw Logan Hall out there to fail, but here it comes.

I’m not thrilled with the so-so edge pass rush, either. Consider brining in Attaouchu or someone like that.

  104. orlbucfan Says:

You guys are entertaining. Still the best comment was a few days ago about sacrificing a chicken to eliminate all the injuries. At the rate things are going with Buc injuries, it’s gonna take more than a chicken to fix it!

  105. Defense Rules Says:

For all any of us know, Todd Bowles & Suh may have had identified this as their Option 1A from the very beginning (they were pretty close from past indications). At 35 there was a pretty good chance that this would be Suh’s last year. He’s been a Buc for 3 years already & knows Bowles system inside & out. Also probably had zero desire to go through another Training Camp at his age.

From Suh’s perspective, this is the best scenario possible. Bucs are a prime Super Bowl contender; they NEED another DT & he’s as experienced as any; and now he has a lot more leverage in terms of salary for this season. And best of all, he gets to retire as a Buc, with Ira sponsoring him for his HOF entry. Who could ask for anything more?

  106. David Says:

Damn. That is painful, been there.

I also get rather annoyed when people are like “oh he was injury prone, I told you”

Injury prone to me is a guy with brittle shoulders or constant knee tears or can’t tolerate pain. This guy has had some injuries the last few years but it’s not recurring stuff that really can be helped.

  107. D-Rok Says:

    DR,

I would love to have Suh back. But I’d treat him like a vet and give him time off and only ask him to pin his ears back and get after it when it was truly needed: in the last 6 weeks of season to get a better playoff seeding, and, of course, give it his all during playoffs. We all KNOW what he can bring when healthy and motivated, but he’s too old to endure an entire season on the D-Line.

He could be our fresh legs for the stretch run, only IF the Bucs treated him as such, which would be appropriate.

  108. Defense Rules Says:

And BTW, I hope no one’s giving up on Akiem Hicks. Not much of an impact in those first 2 games, but for all we know that foot may have been acting up badly before Game 1 ever kicked off. He’s a beast when healthy; let’s not rush him back too soon.

Even before Hicks’ foot injury, the Bucs needed better DEPTH on the interior DLine to make it through a full 20-21 game season. Now it’s up to JL to make that happen. All-in means just that … ALL-IN.

  109. Defense Rules Says:

D-Rok … We just happen to have been hit by the injury bug early. Some other team(s) will end up in exactly the same spot before too long. Waiting until the end of the season runs the risk that Suh might have signed with someone else (like the Rams?).

Get him onboard THEN meter his defensive snaps. Maybe even sit him for certain games if everyone else is healthy. Whatever it takes. Fill the NEED then they can worry about the details.

  110. Tvan101 Says:

Time to see if Suh has been staying in shape.

  111. Nate Says:

Welcome to the powder puff league

I asked what was the over under of how many game Hicks would miss?

Well It now looks like 4.5 missed in the first 6 games.

At this rate maybe we get Hicks for less than 3 more games for the season. So are we looking at 4. ? games for the season.

Maybe we see why the hapless Bears said SEE YA!!!!! to Hicks

    Did someone say SUUUUHHHEYYY!!!!!!!!

    SUH

What was that, how many games has SUH missed in his career?,

ahhh, lets see, ZERO 0 Nada

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!

  113. CrackWise Says:

    @Defense Rules

DANG IT man, I will never argue with you sir. YOU ARE A “CLASS ACT” and deserver EVERY ounce of respect a person has to offer.

I would love to watch a game and talk ball with you ANYDAY!!!

  114. Goatfarmer Says:

Ok. Time to sacrifice a goat. Wait – not the — NOOOOOOOOOO….

  115. The Beer Whisperer Says:

I think a lotta these guys didn’t drink enough milk, growing up.

We always drank plenty of milk, and never had no broken plantar fascia’s

  116. captivajim Says:

    SUH !!!

  117. The Beer Whisperer Says:

I bet Suh drinks lottsa milk. He’s never broken.

  118. adam from ny Says:

yes but lets talk about how nassib was #93…

then they quietly switched him to #94

thus freeing up #93 for who ————> ???

    either suh or mccoy

    #FactsPeopleFacts

  119. adam from ny Says:

it would kinda be cool is suh became a wrastler and worked for vince mcmahon as a bad guy…

    he would be yoking dudes

  120. Rod Munch Says:

Good catch adam from ny, that pretty much confirms it.

  121. steele Says:

Months ago, they should have signed high quality DL and edge when they were available—and they still were, at reasonable cost. Bucs took Hicks as a all-in-one full-season Suh replacement, thinking wrongly that he’d stay healthy, instead of hedging that bet with more than one guy, or simply doing a better job finding a legit starting interior defender who could pass rush. Outside, took Nassib because he’s a homer, when there were better pass rushers, and put all their chips on JTS, who still hasn’t fully delivered, and Hall, who is completely raw.

With so many wounded, the Packer game, which should have been winnable, is in jeopardy on both defense and offense.

In addition to asking for too much $$, Suh is not an ideal answer, but he’s…Suh. He and JPP were wearing down last season. Bring him back now, and he would be an adequate placeholder, but they’d still need Hicks (if they don’t cut him) to quickly recover and stay healthy for a full season to play with Suh. Sheldon Richardson, Malcolm Brown, Vernon Butler, Tyeler Davison…

  122. teacherman777 Says:

I saw the way he jogged.

His body was fat and disjointed.

He was in no shape to be an NFL player.

He was jelly. Fat and wobbly.

  123. BucU Says:

Cut Hicks. We have enough dead wood on this team.
    What a bitter disappointment.

  124. MadMax Says:

Yep, Nassib listed as #94 now. SUHHHH!!!!

    Fingers crossed!

  125. 97 bucBaby Says:

Release hick give him an injury settlement and go get Suh

  126. TOMMY MORDUE Says:

ARE THERE ANY PLAYERS(DT’S) FROM COLLEGE LAST SEASON WHO GOT OVERLOOKED AFTER WINNING AN OUTLAND TROPHY OR A MAJOR COLLEGE (OR SMALL COLLEGE AWARD FOR THEIR PLAY, BUT NOT ON AN NFL ROSTER FOR SOME REASON AS BEING TOO SHORT OR DIDN’T PERFORM WELL AT COMBINE,ETC..IF THEIR IS,BRING THEM IN FOR A LOOK-SEE..START WILLIAM GOLSTON..ROTATE HIM WITH LOGAN HALL&SEE HOW THAT GOES..SUH IS NOT THE DOMINATING PLAYER HE ONCE WAS..NOT WORTH THE MONEY AT THIS POINT IN HIS CAREER..A HEALTHY J.P.P. & HIS SPEED & LONG ARMS WOULD BE BATTING PASSES LEFT & RIGHT WHENEVER HE GETS HIS HANDS UP..NUNEZ-ROCHES COULD START NEXT TO VITA VEA AS WELL..IF YOU DECIDE AGAINST A YOUNG OBSCURE DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH & ARE WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE..J.P.P IS THE MAN YOU RE-SIGN, BUT ONLY IF HIS SHOULDER IS COMPLETELY HEALED..

  127. (Please choose a different handle) Says:

I had a plantar fasciitis injury that took a year to fully heal. Mine wasn’t even torn. Hicks is done for the year!! No way that is less than a month injury. Licht gets an F for signing these Geriatric free agents…..that is except for Brady.

  128. D-Rok Says:

    @DR,

That’s exactly what I meant to imply: Sign Suh NOW and then meter his snaps.

At the least, he can be like SMB and be a ready-reserve if needed.

Obviously the team knows best, but has Rudolph done anything for this team yet? It might make more sense to let him go and give another seat to the DL room.

  129. bucfan34 Says:

Gee, weird Hicks was injured again. Thought his best ability was availability… Go get Suh signed ffs!!!

    Go Bucs!!

  130. Browsing from DC Says:

I’ve been a fan of Suh for a long time. Even though he was on an opposing team, was being called “the dirtiest player in the NFL”, etc. He’s a force. For those who say “He did nothing last season” you don’t always rely on stats to gauge a d-lineman like Suh. Just because he didn’t have big numbers of tackles, tfl, QB pressures and sacks, etc., teams had to adjust for him and Vea. Either run somewhere else or not run as often. There’s no stat for clogging up a hole and someone else gets the tackle for a loss.

There’s no Stat for him getting in a QB’s head either (think Karen Rodgers).

Sure, he’s lost a step (or half step) and doesn’t put up the glamor numbers but the dude is a beast. Maybe he priced himself out of town or maybe the team was giddy about the new guys or both?

Whatever the case I had hoped both he and JPP (after his surgery) would get a shot this season but never say never. Sure they’re both unsigned still but as constantly pointed out, money, age and the Bucs (who have the most recent 1st hand knowledge of them) didn’t re-sign them so that probably scared off a few teams as well.

I do think our current d-line depth is workable and is coached very well. I doubt Hicks will be back before Thanksgiving, so “next man up”. LFG
