Giovani Bernard And Josh Wells Placed On Injured Reserve
September 21st, 2022The Bucs made bad injury news official today, placing backup running back Giovani Bernard and backup tackle Josh Wells on injured reserve, which means they’ll miss four games before being eligible to return.
Wells has a calf issue and Bernard has an ankle.
Up from the practice squad comes wide receiver Kaylon Geiger and linebacker Kenny Young. Newcomer receiver Cole Beasley is likely to be activated next week.

Hope D. Smith is feeling better.

Curious why the Bucs placed Giovani on the 53 man prior to the season. Bucs should have given him an injury settlement and then signed him again if and when he was healed.

Odd no Hicks also- Even FS1 is throwing shade at Hicks over Suh on their ticker.
Suh.

giovanni bernard is injury prone and not effective for us. julio jones and akeem hicks are injury prone but effective on this team , there is a difference here.
September 21st, 2022 at 1:56 pm
No Gio, means Beasley is getting the nod.
September 21st, 2022 at 1:56 pm
Giovanni has done absolutely zip since he’s been here. I don’t get it. Cut him loose.
September 21st, 2022 at 1:58 pm
Has Gio played more than 10 snaps total over the last 2 seasons? Dude just keeps getting injured.
September 21st, 2022 at 1:59 pm
to be fair, he has made some plays the few times he was actually in the game.
He’s just gotten injured right after lol

I share #8’s sentiment,
Suhhh!!!! Or at least GMC, if he is in any kind of shape
September 21st, 2022 at 2:10 pm
Geez, how many tackles are left standing on this team? Eeeeks.
September 21st, 2022 at 2:11 pm
Lol, just saw where a barbecue joint in NOLA banned Mike for life. I might drive down there sometime and take a big dump on the bathroom floor of that place Idiots! Go Bucs!

Time to find another runningback, before we get Lenny killed
September 21st, 2022 at 2:12 pm
You guys simply don’t understand……Gio is “BA”……Brady Approved…..those players get special dispensation.
September 21st, 2022 at 2:13 pm
Also interested why Geiger gets the nod over Thompkins….I guess it must be ST.
And, yes….Hicks will miss at least a month….should be on IR.
September 21st, 2022 at 2:14 pm
Hopefully the Geiger can counter with a few catches.
September 21st, 2022 at 2:17 pm
Are we just completely down on Vaughn?
September 21st, 2022 at 2:25 pm
Suh, now before it’s too late….
September 21st, 2022 at 2:26 pm
OBJ,
September 21st, 2022 at 2:27 pm
Hicks will miss the entire season. If he comes back it won’t be at full speed.

For some reason I thought Beasley would play Sunday.
September 21st, 2022 at 2:46 pm
Hicks not on IR because they’ll just waive him injured. They’re probably discussing the terms right now.
Suh.

Interesting that Kaylon Geiger got the call up instead of Thompkins, who looked pretty good as a returner. Kaylon Geiger however I think is closer to an NFL WR, although he’s pretty small, BUT Thompkins is tiny and probably going to be relegated to just being a dedicated returner.
Geiger did a limited number of returners, and I wonder if they make him active and sit Darden. It’s a big game to test a new returner, so I assume Darden keeps his job until we get past the Chiefs game and the schedule gets easier.
If no one else covered, just an FYI, they can’t bring back Cyril Grayson until week 8 because of the injury settlement. That’s where my thoughts went first, why not bring him back, and there’s your answer.

Lately teams have been signing guys and put them on the practice squad for a week or two just to see if they’re in football shape and so they can learn the offense a little. However, it wouldn’t shock me if they did indeed activate Beasley on Sunday. Last year Sherman was supposed to sit, and they surprize activated him – then had him start the game on top of it. So I wouldn’t count out anything yet.

Walden looked better than Wells, Gio is a total waste, no big loss with either. I’m surprised Tomkins wasn’t elevated over Gieger
September 21st, 2022 at 3:03 pm
Both Bernard & Hicks should be released -with an injury settlement of some sort to free up 2 roster spots now , not a month from now ..
September 21st, 2022 at 3:27 pm
Never ever heard of a big man being back from plantar fasciitis in 4 weeks.
The doctor in me feels like this is a 10-week injury for him.
September 21st, 2022 at 3:31 pm
OL Brandon Walton was a nice surprise on Sunday against the slimy Saints. Potentially another Diamond in the Rough pickup by AC/DC loving, Super Bowl Champion GM Jason Licht? Let’s Go Brandon (Walton)!
September 21st, 2022 at 3:37 pm
geno is absolutely on it ; that plantar farca injury takes a Lot more than 4 wks
September 21st, 2022 at 4:05 pm
Yup I said the same thing yesterday about Hicks. He’s done for the season IMO.
@NCbucsfan – I might have to wear my Evans jersey and stop in there next time
I’m in NOLA lol.

Gio s always hurt Wells not far behind cut um lose next man up.
September 21st, 2022 at 4:15 pm
I will continue to bang the drum on Vaughn. He’s the one back on the roster that can legitimately rest Lenny during a game, can block and still has the ability to hit the home run. Use White on 3rd downs if they have too. We need Lenny in January.
September 21st, 2022 at 4:16 pm
This will be a great opportunity for Vaughn to show out.

It’s Sneak time
September 21st, 2022 at 5:18 pm
The problems with the two backup running backs:
White: He has a patient, wait-for-the-hole-then-attack-it running style, which can be fantastic if your line is set up for it, like what LeVeon Bell and the Steelers had going a few years ago. But since his style is so different from Lenny’s, it’s tough for him to be the guy that spells him. He needs a blocking scheme that’s designed for his running style.
Vaughn: He runs hard, like Lenny, and is probably better suited to spell him. But I still see impatience in his running; instead of waiting a split second for an opening, he’ll still slam into the back of his blockers. He got better at avoiding that last year and I really thought that would translate to more playing time this year, but he looked mediocre in the preseason (behind linemen that are now selling insurance) and has been sitting ever since.
I think White is more gifted, but Vaughn is the better tandem running back for Lenny.

Nailed it as WELLS….
You guys are on fire for a Wednesday!!! LOVING IT
September 21st, 2022 at 6:20 pm
Just saw the latest injury report. It’s surreal. 2 games in and we’re already picking people up again off the street. It’s stunning.
There needs to be some scrutiny put on this strength and conditioning program. This ain’t normal.

Wells to IR. Hainsey having a knee problem. The OL red alert keeps flashing.
Who is C is Hainsey is out? Leverette. Equals Brady is sacked. Walton looked better than Wells, but what happens now that opposing coordinators have film of him?
So many injuries. When will they make some moves?
September 21st, 2022 at 9:17 pm
Both Vaughn and White need to play. It’s BL’s job to accomodate both of their styles to get results.
September 21st, 2022 at 11:02 pm
Joseph Simmons – excellent analysis on the RBs. Sneak needs more coaching up and White needs to eat a humble pie. He came in over incident and being put as the backup is not what he needed.

Gio reminds me of the Charlie Garner experiment.
