Tyler Johnson Takes Over
August 13th, 2022Joe is so glad all of Bucs nation got to see tonight what’s been happening through training camp at One Buc Palace.
That would be receiver Tyler Johnson looking like a rejuvenated man.
Johnson is super fit and has looked quicker in camp. That translated to tonight’s preseason opener against Miami at The Licht House. Johnson may have been the best Bucs player on the field — Tampa Bay rested 29 starters — and Johnson finished with 6 catches for 73 yards on seven targets.
The 2020 fifth-round pick made a sweet over-the-shoulder catch down the seam in the first quarter, and he flashed plenty of quality YAC (yards after catch).
Joe firmly believes the Bucs will keep seven receivers to start the season, meaning three from the crop that includes Johnson, Breshad Perriman, Scotty Miller, Cyril Grayson and Jaelon Darden, plus their big four, Mike Evans, Russell Gage, Chris Godwin and Julio Jones.
Johnson planted quite a flag tonight in his quest to win a roster spot.

Ton of talent in the WR room!
Gonna get snapped up quick when they are released

LOL
Tyler Johnson had a TERRIBLE DROP. He drops too many passes.
August 13th, 2022 at 10:44 pm
Trask would have had an 80%+ completion rate if it wasn’t for Johnson and Otton dropping catchable passes that hit them in the hands.

We need to play up tempo
August 13th, 2022 at 10:48 pm
TJ and many others looked good, but why are Bucs fans always bitching about someone or something? The first preseason game and let’s be grateful it was a fun game and no one got hurt !!! Please can we just be positive
Go Bucs

I hope we can keep
Some of those WRs on the practice squad. I saw a lot of talent out there.

Oh and Rod Munch please go to bed and you closed down the thread ??? Please stop with your analysis of the first preseason game !! Man we have to deal with you and the other guy all season 🙄
August 13th, 2022 at 10:52 pm
Oh and Nate !!! Bro the first preseason game and your talking about up tempo already, but maybe you and Munch can start your own site call the Nate and Munch Buc Bitching
August 13th, 2022 at 10:52 pm
Agreed, have to keep seven. Go with Johnson, Darden & Miller.
August 13th, 2022 at 10:52 pm
Great game for him.
He and Perriman are probably receivers number five and six unless they trade one of them because they have a lot of depth.
He still had that one easy drop. That is so frustrating
August 13th, 2022 at 10:55 pm
Lastly I like to see we have some stockier and good tackling corners because Carlton and SMB aren’t locks to stay healthy
August 13th, 2022 at 10:55 pm
Man, The Bucs are Loaded at WR! They’re 11 Deep! I really like Sterns and Geiger! Very Different type of WR’s than our top 4 Wideouts.Other than Tyler Johnson, I thought they showed out very well tonight!

Losing Sux, preseason or not.
GO BUCS!!!

That’s how Tyler Johnson is supposed to play when he is playing against that level of competition. Does it carry over for when he is playing against starters? I hope so.

Three players did get hurt. Gio, Grant, and Cam Gill. I don’t know how badly, but they didn’t return to the game.

TJ will make it….just looked good with some of those grabs.
August 14th, 2022 at 6:55 am
Perriman better get his arse on the field if he wants to make the team. Sterns, and Thompkins showed they can play last night. Can’t make the club if you’re always in the tub.
August 14th, 2022 at 7:13 am
Perriman has a guaranteed salary of just over a million……he could be traded but doubt he is cut.
August 14th, 2022 at 7:49 am
Golden Gophers showing well on the Bucs. Kieft blocked like a mack truck last night. He is an animal!
August 14th, 2022 at 8:06 am
Great to show your stuff in a meaningless preseason game, Johnson turtles during the real deal.
August 14th, 2022 at 11:17 am
I really hope they make the right decisions at wr ciz a couple of these guys are going to get signed let’s hope who we let go isn’t the next diamond in the rough
August 14th, 2022 at 4:25 pm
TJ is a lock to make it and a big “suck it” to all the Trask haters. Ha!
