Two Schedules For Chris Godwin

August 7th, 2022

Chris Godwin

Yes, Pro Bowl receiver Chris Godwin appeared on the Bucs’ practice field last week, just seven months and a handful of hours after surgery to repair his knee’s ACL and MCL.

Is he ahead of schedule? It seems he is — because he’s pushing so hard.

ESPN insider Jeff Darlington, a former and legitimate Tom Brady insider before he gave up on that two months ago, was on ESPN TV recently talking about how a Bucs source was telling him that Godwin is a “freak” with his rehab and that Godwin has his own schedule for returning to play, and the Bucs sort of have their own Godwin schedule terms.

Per Darlington, Godwin is on schedule for himself and ahead of the Bucs’.

It’ll be interesting to see how Bucs doctors work with Godwin on balancing expectations and readiness.

Nobody wants to see him return too soon and have a setback.

Everything Joe continues to hear on the ground — as well as Sage of Tampa Bay Sports Ira Kaufman — is that there’s real hope that Godwin will be ready Week 1. On Godwin’s side of the table, that “hope” is expectation.

Practice with a knee brace , will he play with one, are there any WR’s that have played with one?

  2. Dean Giusti Says:

Chris is amazing. He’s the heart and soul of this team. See ya in Dallas CG14!!

    Dr. Booger does not agree.

  4. SOEbuc Says:

Tom Brady doesn’t have insiders. There are leaks by spies that may somewhat give a small percentage of the actual truth.

  5. IrishTony Says:

These athletes today taking better care of themselves and I’m guessing the treatment is significantly better than it was even 10 years ago during Booger’s time plus CG is a really tough dude.

  6. Biff Barker Says:

Don’t expect to see the real CG till the back of season. That’s OK. He will still draw the coverage. When he gets single coverage, TB12 will hit him.

For anyone that has rehab… we know there is a line between pushing hard on things that won’t hurt the injury, and pushing too hard, beyond what is prudent regarding the former injury. And I’m sure with the best medical and PT advice on planet earth, they know exactly what they are doing.

C.G. WILL BE BACK AS STRONG AS EVER, HE’S LOOKING GOOD IN PRACTICE..ANOTHER 2 TIDBITS I’D LIKE THR BUC’S TO BE AWARE OF & STRONGLY CONSIDER…DALLAS IS THINKING ABOUT CUTTING 3RD STRING QB “WILL GRIER”..I THINK THE BUC’S SHOULD GRAB HIM QUICKLY & DUMP RYAN GRIFFIN..ALSO KAREEM HUNT WANTS TO BE TRADED OUT OF CLEVELAND..I BELIEVE WE SHOULD CHECK INTO THIS & POSSIBLY ATTAIN KAREEM HUNT ( A TOUGH FORMIDABLE RUNNING BACK..JUST SAYIN’…

Most do not come back so quickly but again we have Gronk who tore his ACL/MCL in December 2014. After surgery:

Came back in 1st regular season game of 2015 and had 94 yards receiving and 3 TDs. Also, had a fully healthy pro bowl year and good playoff.

It can be done. I trust Godwin, his personal doctor and the team doctors.

  11. geno711 Says:

    @TOMMY MORDUE

I would gladly give up two of our receivers for Karem Hunt.
    Perriman and Darden or Miller.
