Quick Chemistry?

August 26th, 2022

Important sideline time, says Todd Bowles.

Some body language experts will tell you a falsehood is being told if the subject answering a question goes right to touching his face after the question is asked.

Todd Bowles responded that way today when asked about what kind of rapport Tom Brady has built up with newcomers like Julio Jones and others.

“I think it was built up before we left,” Bowles began. It’s unclear if he meant “he” left instead of “we” left, or if Bowles was referring to the Bucs leaving Tampa for 4 1/2 days in Tennessee.

“It’s just having everybody intact practicing at the same time. You know, his days [off] were falling the same days Julio [Jones] was off, and obviously Mike [Evans] being injured, we didn’t have a full slate there either. But they got to see a lot of things from the side and got to talk a lot, and I think the chemistry is good.”

Bowles previously talked about the great team bonding in Tennessee, but Brady wasn’t there.

Brady himself has talked about how it can take three to five years to build optimum chemistry with receivers, so it’s hard for Joe to say there’s a Brady-level rapport with Julio Jones and Russell Gage through just a handful of practices.

Still, there’s more than two weeks of gelling time before opening day. And yes, Joe expects Julio to have at least two targets on Saturday night.

Set go ! Get separation & run the route your supposed to run and brady will hit ya where he’s supposed to almost every frigging time ! He also finds you when you run the wrong way . Cough Cough remember that Mr. Jumping Jack’s?

  2. AKicknTheBucNuts Says:

And yet Brady won us a Superbowl with no receiver chemistry pre-season.

    We’ll be fine.

  3. lambeau Says:

Brady appreciates the ultra-talented, like AB; reports are he bonded quickly with Gage. I imagine that will happen with Julio.

  4. BucBoy Says:

Wait a second. According to this site rapport is not a factor when Trask plays with hamburger flippers. Why would it be a a factor for Brady? I’m confused.

Its getting really annoying .any chance you can just follow the gators this season? We went from nole fanboys to gator fanboys pretty fast.

I have a more favorable opinion of trask then my brother who went to florida and is a huge gator fan. He said bust right away after second round pick.

Blind homerism is strong on this site 😂

  6. Anonymous Says:

Jones and Gage have been in the league years so building chemistry between receiver and quarterback can develop quickly – and like fine wine get better with time

  7. Biff Barker Says:

If the receiver gets any separation, TB will find them.

If it’s Godwin or Evans, Brady will put the ball where the defender can’t get to it. Julio and Gage will acclimate quickly. Ryan threw a nice ball too.

  8. Bucschamp Says:

    Brady is Mighty Bond

  9. PSL Bob Says:

The regular season starts in two weeks. Whether or not there is chemistry between TB12 and our receivers, whoever they may be, will become evident when the Bucs take the field against the Cowboys. In the meantime all this speculation doesn’t mean squat. Chill out my brothers and sisters. Should be a fun ride!

  10. BucUToo Says:

Brady didn’t have a lot of time to build rapport with his receivers in 2020 either. That worked out ok. If he can have a modicum of that success with these receivers we’re good.

  11. Infomeplease Says:

When JJ and RG get some separation, TB12 will get them the ball!! It’s as simple as that. If they continue to get separation, then TB12 will notice and deliver the ball to them more! That goes for single teamed too. Whoever is getting single teamed or separation will get the ball!! That’s how TB12 operates!! Of course I’m assuming the receiver is completing the play!!

  12. BucBoy Says:

    Bird,

Thanks for proving my point by engaging in nothing but ad hominem attacks. Weak minded much? Jameis fanboi much?

  13. BillyBucco Says:

Well both Florida and Florida State have sucked for some time.
Won championships with QBs who can’t make it in the NFL while Joe Burrow is already a Top 5 QB.

Chemistry is a word that is used as an excuse in my eyes.
You only hear the word when something went wrong.
Julio and Gage know what they are doing already. Same with AB.
Might have some simple discussion on option routes and how Brady sees them, but you guys act like this is Usain Bolt learning football or something.

Those who judge a quarterback based on what college they played at are idiots.

Josh Allen, the best quarback in the NFL today, played at Wyoming, which has never produced an NFL quarterback.

Brett Favre, one of the great NFL quarterbacks (the greatest in my opinion as unlike all the other greats he never played with a single offensive player who is or will be in the Hall of Fame), played at Southern Miss, which has never produced an NFL quarterback.

Ben Roethlisberger played at rinky-dink Miami Univerity (Ohio), which has never produced an NFL quarterback.

The list goes on. So grow up and move on from your college obsession.

I believe in Trask..he a play maker in every game I seen him in.
Jury is out on him in the nfl but give him time to learn from the goat and get the reps.
Will he be the starter next year?.. I hope not that means brady leaves us.
Will he be the back up? I hope so.
Like to see him win out vs gabbie this yr but the bucs love him for some reason I assume because he can run for first downs.

  16. Bird Says:

“Those who judge based on college”? Huh. You are absolutely doing just that cause you went to florida . Trask is now the next coming great qb cause he gives you a stiffie. How old are you?

And obviously you havent been here long. I coudnt stand the jameis love. Thought he was average / middle of the road qb. Americas qb nickname was laughable. Go back into the archives little guy.

And i didnt go to either school. I went to a non powerhouse school ucf a long time ago. But guess what …i knew blake bortles would be a bust and watched zero of his games as a Jaguar. No homer here. But you , it sounds like you wear one of his game worn jocks over your face when he is on tv.

  17. Listnfrmafar Says:

BS, there are receivers and there are receivers. Guys like Jones, AB etc. They know the game and talk the same language when it comes to QB’s. Evan’s and Godwin never had that until Brady. There will be glitches but the end result will be great.

“Those who judge based on college”? Huh. You are absolutely doing just that cause you went to florida.”

No. I’ve judged plenty of overhyped Florida quarterbacks harshly, as recently as Feleipe Franks and Emory Jones. I judge Kyle Trask based on his SEC-record-setting performances. Look them up.

Since then, Trask has been stifled by the Bucs – not playing diddly squat last season and playing almost entirely with soon-to-be-hamburger-flippers this preseason who can’t block and certainly can’t catch, so I don’t rush to condemn his every mistake, like all you haters do.

Indeed Brady would make plenty, if not as many, mistakes were he in Trask’s shoes. In fact, this entire website has been crying for the past week about Brady needing a better offensive line. Trask apparently doesn’t one, though, right?

    LMAO.

  20. Joey Strom Says:

Can’t wait to see what these two are going to do in combination with our veteran receivers.

  21. Mark A Swygert Says:

I’m a UF grad, but I have been a Buc fan since I was 12 years old, long before my college days. While it’s nice if a gator can contribute to the team, I judge them harshly when they fail or show bad character like Vernon Hargreaves, or Eric Rhett when he held out for more dough. The jury is still out on Trask because there is still only a small sample size and he has played in the glorified scrimmages known as preseason games only up to now.

  22. Eddie Marz Says:

Buc boy, say what? Josh Allen? I stil think Brady is the best QB in the NFL and probably will be until he retires. How many times and how many different teams does Brady have to beat Josh Allen’s teams before you recognize this’d Geez! GOBUCS!

  23. BucBoy Says:

Eddie, looks like it went over your head.

First, the point is that Josh Allen is a great NFL quarterback by any measure, and came out of piddling Wyoming, which has never produced an NFL quarterback. Get it?

Second, several rankings of the NFL quarterbacks actually do have Josh Allen listed first. So there’s that.
