Monster Interior Test Coming In Tennessee

August 16th, 2022

Bucs O-linemen will deal with a powerful Pro Bowler.

Much has been made of the unproven Bucs center and left guard hopefuls practicing — and growing — daily against manbeasts Vita Vea and Akiem Hicks.

With all due respect, perhaps a tougher test is coming tomorrow.

The Bucs fly to Nashville today for morning practices against the Titans on Wednesday and Thursday.

That means Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jefferey Simmons will be looking to punish Bucs interior linemen like Aaron Stinnie, Luke Goedeke and Robert Hainsey. Simmons had 8 1/2 sacks last season, plus three more in his lone playoff game.

Simmons is a load of furious power and good technique. The 2019 first-round pick checked in this week at No. 54 on the player-selected list known as the NFL Network Top-100 players of 2022.

(Will Vita Vea make it this year? Fifty players already have been named.)

This kind of challenge makes joint practices so much fun, and valuable. Joe sure hopes Todd Bowles and Titans head coach Mike Vrabel choreograph the action to give Simmons 1-on-1 pass rushes in live action against various Bucs’ offensive linemen.

Joe’s eyes will be extremely focused on what Simmons is doing — and who he’s doing it against.

Excellent opportunity for the Bucs O-line to get better!

Jeffrey Simmons hands down – is a Top-5 Prospect.

Don’t be shocked if 3 or 4 years from now – he’s considered the best or one of the best from this class.

    Him & Vita together…smh

Not worried about getting beat as long as we can avoid injuries……at this rate we’ll be down 15 players after game 3……

If Carl Nicks’ big toe has healed, perhaps we can give him a shot.

  4. Goatfarmer Says:

Good report, Joes. Feed us the stuff you can. I hope Simmons exposes the aspects of blocking that our lads need to work on. Very concerned about the interior.

The Dolphins game was problematic. Hainsey didn’t impress. Moved well, was in the right position most of the time, but didn’t dominate. Leverett, awful. Guys got stood up a lot.

  6. Bucs&Bolts Says:

Simmons is a BEAST gl offense line you’ll need it haha

  7. GOB Says:

I love me some joints, practices too. It’s really the only beneficial part of camp. More hitting, more competition. With the Sally ass practicing rules per the CBA, it can be a very important evaluation tool.

  8. Goatfarmer Says:

    Please stay healthy, gents.

  9. FirstTimePoster Says:

We’re only a couple of hours from Nashville. Hmm…ROAD TRIP!

  10. T REX Says:

I love Vea’s game but he only plays half the snaps.

    Not enough for him.

  11. Tbbucs3 Says:

Hopefully we’ll be Tennesee ready for practice tomorrow

  12. Beeej Says:

This is why Brady isn’t playing. Shaq Mason isn’t even in, they’re trying to get Stinnie and Goedeke all the snaps they can, less than helpful to the qb

  13. Capt.Tim Says:

After one preseason game, against 3rd stringers, I think we are Ok at Center.
Hainsey and Mulchon both did ok.
But we need to sign a GOOD right Guard.
I think Madon will be ok replacing Cappa, but we havent found Marpet’s replacement.
I dont think that player is on the roster yet.

  14. Capt.Tim Says:

    Mason*

  15. Oddball Says:

Dang LUV. You’re giving me flashbacks of the Realist Repost days.

    Good call on Simmons though.

  16. Anonymous Says:

Most draft gurus had Simmons touted as a top talent that year but he fell in the draft because of a significant injury which was expected to keep him out his entire rookie year.

  17. JA Says:

After careful consideration, the lack of didactic epistemology within this post leads one to conclude otherwise. Full time practice against your own supersedes the few reps one might encounter against the aforementioned part time opponent in a meaningless preseason game.

  18. SB~LV Says:

Live fire for most of the starters

  19. Netwalker Says:

Side note: Elon Musk texted that he’s buying Manchester United. Wonder if the Glazers Know this.

There are a lot of long words in there, JA, we’re naught but humble pirates.

  21. Stanglassman Says:

    Capt Tim.
    RG is Mason.
LG is the one open. Looking like it’s between Stinnie and Leverett. Goedeke is yet to run with the first team.

  22. Chris Tucker@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Iron sharpens Iron, so bring on Tennessee !

  23. SB~LV Says:

did you just say the Glazer’s are building a new MEGA stadium complex that will house the Rays and the Bucs , on their own dime ?
    Wow! 😉

  24. TampabayDJ82 Says:

I’m with TBBF on this ! I don’t give a shizzle about how great this dude is , as long as our guys don’t get hurt. Remember last year with the ‘Joint practice ‘ against this same team ? I recall that they got into fights every day. We’re playing for the Super Bowl and might be our last best chance to get it in a while so we need to stay healthy ! KEEP GODWIN OUT OF PRACTICE AGAINST OTHER TEAMS ! GO BUCS

  25. Cobraboy Says:

Maybe this is why Brady took a vaykay…

  26. Crickett Baker Says:

What’s a shizzle and why won’t you give one of yours, TBDJ?

  27. Bucca-near-Ring Three Says:

I hope Simmons tears a groin muscle. If you have not seen the video, of him beating a woman lying on the street before joining MSU, don’t! It is disgusting. That arrest kept Simmons from receiving an invitation to the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine, it didn’t prevent Mississippi State from giving him a scholarship or the Titans from drafting him. I will never be able to unsee that video and I will never have more than disgust for that person.
