“If You’re The One Everybody Hate, You’re Doing Something Right.”

August 2nd, 2022

A Bucs defensive player was talking about the loss of Pro Bowl center Ryan Jensen.

Yes, Joe considers Jensen lost for the season, though nothing is official. Joe was told point blank by Joe’s second best source that Ryan Jensen blew his ACL.

It’s no surprise. That’s why Tom Brady is “heartbroken” and multiple speeches were made by players and coaches. It’s also why Devin White talked about prayer Saturday during his visit to the NFL Network set at One Buc Palace.

Prayers are still going out to Jensen, White said, “just to be well in his mindset.” That almost sounded ominous.

As for losing Jensen on the field, White said it’s more than just needing a new guy to snap the ball and block.

“It’s very hard. He’s the camaraderie of the offense. He’s the one who’s going to get it going,” David said. ” … Everybody hate him. He’s the one everybody hate. If you’re the one everybody hate, you’re doing something right.”

White went on to talk about how the presence of Tom Brady means there’s no shortage of fire in the guys tasked with stepping up in Jensen’s absence — because everyone is fearful of letting down The Goat.

Joe hopes Jensen is well. As tough as Jensen is, you’d think he might already be on a golf cart watching training camp practice. He hasn’t been seen at practice since the injury.

Must be a severe or complex injury because they definitely know what it is by now. Pat Mcafee passively reported it was an ACL today and AQ is a friend of the show so it could have merit… wondering if that’s just the beginning and it’s also fractured or he has multiple ligaments torn.

Hopefully he makes a full recovery and gets to play again!

  2. Steven007 Says:

Waiting patiently for the comments on White’s English. Though I have to say, “He’s the camaraderie of the offense” is a fairly nonsensical thing to say. Maybe it’s just me. Though I do enjoy the camaraderie with my fellow posters.

  3. Hodad Says:

Time for someone else to become the most hated.

  4. SB~LV Says:

    He’ll need the whole year….

  5. GOB Says:

Steven, you are my camaraderie too. The loss of Jensen is bad, no doubt about it. But, to suggest his loss will somehow derail the season is a tad disrespectful to the other players. People are acting like they lost both tackles.

  6. D-Rok Says:

Hate is a form of respect. For decades, people “hated” Brady, including Bucs fans before Brady arrived. If people (players?) hate Jensen, it’s cuz they respect and fear him.

Again, I reiterate that all signs point to Hainsey performing well this year. How well remains to be seen.

  7. Defense Rules Says:

GOB … Good point; someone always steps up to fill a void. As I look at our OLine, I’m thinking it’ll end up being Shaq Mason. Wirfs, Hainsey & Goedeke are still a bit young to be vocally ‘setting the tone’, and D Smith doesn’t seem to be the leader type. Mason though has the experience, and once he gets his feet wet, I think he’ll be the tone-setter like Jensen was.

And yes, I do think that the rookie Goedeke will beat out Stinnie for the starting LG job, and that Hainsey will end up being our starting center.

  8. BillyBucco Says:

So you have very differing opinions.
Shaq Mason says worry is overblown.

    Most think Jensen is irreplaceable.
I like the blending of the 2 because yes Jensen is irreplaceable, but it shouldn’t derail the season. Brady had worked with an assortment of players, and if Hainsey or Leverrett aren’t getting it done, in comes Tretter.

Now if Tretter gets signed and Hainsey snaps the ball over TBs head constantly in practice, I’ll start worrying.
We got a lot of receivers to throw QUICK to.

  9. George Says:

We have to move on . Jensen is gone . No replacing his fiery nature . Hainsey will have to be technically sound and add his own dimension. Take a look at the end around TD that Scottie Miller ran last year against the Panthers . Hainsey ran down the whole field and made a nice block at the end before Scottie got over the goal line . It is skills like that he brings to the table and may add a different spark

  10. Kody Says:

Yeah, Jensen’s OL leadership, bullying opposing Ds and downright viciousness in the trenches are all irreplaceable factors.

That said, would love the Bucs to sign Tretter just for his gritty veteran experience. The sooner the Bucs get him training with the team, the more integrated and valuable he will become.

We can’t risk the entire season to Hainsey. What if HE gets injured too??

  11. Bucsfan13 Says:

I need an emergency podcast from Ira to discuss this whole tampering fiasco!

  12. sasquatch Says:

    D. White needs to learn to speak English.

  13. DoooshLaRue Says:

My first guess was Devin White with that headline……. I forgot that LaVonte is quite the wordsmiff himself.
    😀

  14. Anonymous Says:

Every O lineman on this roster knows what the lost of Jenson means. Next man up has always been the rule, be it Stinnie, Leverett or HAINSEY, they all know it’s time to step their game up!!

  15. Rod Munch Says:

sasquatch – Everybody hate you. You’s the one everybody hate.

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Since we are quoting Devin White, I think it’s only appropriate to quote Byron Leftwich’s butchering of the English language…(embarrassing)

As for Jensen…..of course he can be replaced as can every player (sans Brady)….

I actually think Gronk’s absense will affect Brady more……his good buddy gone…

    I certainly hope I’m wrong.

  17. StAugBuc Says:

I actually think Gronk’s absense will affect Brady more……his good buddy gone…

Mocking English and spelling incorrectly bad look (absence) 🙂

  18. JA Says:

I don’t begrudge White’s apparent illiteracy. He’s not the first sports figure who was given passing grades in exchange for making colleges like LSU a ton of cash. Do colleges still use the label, “student athlete?”
Then again, perhaps the critics (myself included) are wrong in White’s case and he’s speaking some obscure form colloquial English found in the Louisiana boondocks.
    Ya never know …

  19. Maniac Buc Says:

Cool story bro. Jensen is hurt. He’s out for the year. As far as I’m concerned, he’s no longer a Buc for the rest of the season. Not being an ass toward Jensen, but that’s just how I love. AB is not a Buc anymore, so I don’t talk about him. Suh is not a Buc. JPP is not a Buc. I don’t talk about them. I know Jensen is technically still a Buc, but in terms of being on the field, he can help us win in 2022, so let’s not spend the whole 2022 talking about him. It’s Hainsey time until it ain’t.

@Joe, not directed towards you for writing the article as much as all the “rah rah” going around.

  20. GOB Says:

Defense, agreed. Mason will now be the tone setter, especially in the run game. I actually think the loss of Marpet is more consequential than Jensen. All and all, they should be fine. It may take a while for everything to come together, but I’m not worried about the line as a whole.

  21. Chris Tucker@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I agree that the loss of Marpet is a big deal. The loss of Gronk IMHO might actually make Brady better. Brady favored his friend Gronk. I have watched plenty of film where some of our other receivers were wide open, but Brady threw to Gronk.
Hainsey has the potential to make us forget about Jensen, who may or may not come back. Jensen is not a Kid, and if it is a bad ACL + Injury, at his age, it will not be easy to come back. Yes, we will all miss his physicality and attitude.

  22. Bucsfan13 Says:

@ChrisTucker You cannot say that without knowing the progressions of a particular play. Godwin actually led the team in targets. You have no idea if to was the right read. Also, a QB, not just Tom, needs to have trust in their receivers. Maybe he didn’t trust that some guys would make the catch. Gronk is his teammate before his friend. . Gronk alsohappens to be the best TE to ever play. Brady led the league in passing. How will this make it better to lose Gronk’s production? Do you have access to the coaches’ film?

  23. GOB Says:

Chris, you bring up a good point. At times last year, the offense became very Gronk centric. It was as if he was the only guy Brady trusted. Not all the time, but certainly for stretches. I miss the Brady that just threw to the open reciever, no matter his name. I believe, and hope we’ll see more of that this year.

  24. Hail2dabucs Says:

White is no where near as bad as Trent Richardson was . I was living in canton when the browns got him and he must have had to read the Q cards for his subway commercials, the guy could barley read his own name off of it .

  25. steele Says:

Jensen deserves a ceremonial “He Hate Me” jersey. Hainsey has to earn one.

  26. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Hail,

    It’s CUE cards and BARELY.
I’ll let the capitalization errors ride.

You be goin’ to LSU too?

  27. Scotty In Fat Antonio Says:

    RIP Lars Tate

  28. BradyBucs Says:

    WHERE ARE THE MRI RESULTS?

Why won’t they announce the extent of Jensen’s injury already?
