Cynthia Frelund Projects Tom Brady To Have A Great Season Despite Offensive Line

August 30th, 2022

Tom Brady fangirl.

Cynthia Frelund has been playing with her keyboard again.

The NFL Network stat queen decided to run projections of several players to see what her “models” predict. And while she doesn’t expect Tom Brady to lead the league in passing again, or perhaps touchdowns, he’s still will be an elite quarterback.

And while Brady and the Bucs will have to adjust to their new roster, Brady is still, well, a farm animal.

… the G.O.A.T. has his work cut out for him in 2022. Last season, Brady was only sacked in 2.2 percent of dropbacks when facing the blitz — the lowest rate in the NFL, per NGS. Brady also led the league in deep pass attempts (20-plus air yards) in 2020 and tied for the most in 2021.

Still, while there’s more pressure on Brady this season, it doesn’t forecast to prevent the 45-year-old from executing at an extremely high level. There might be fewer deep passes early in the season, but the potential for first downs and touchdowns drives the fourth-highest win share among quarterbacks.

So basically Frelund thinks the Bucs’ offensive line will still be above average. It was the best in the NFL at pass blocking the past two years. And as the stat geeks might say, without Ryan Jensen and Ali Marpet, the blocking will regress to the mean.

So if the Bucs’ line slips from best to above average, that should be good enough for the game’s best quarterback.

Stats don’t matter if the team doesn’t have the talent

We need two pick up two season lineman who will give us a better chance against Aaron Donald

Unless you get an 8 to 10 year pro, not enough time to learn the scheme. Stick with what you’ve got. Every NFL team has deficits and injuries. That’s the nature of the game now.

By 4:00 there should be a few salary cap cuts.

I agree with CF, things may start out slow but will provide plenty of positive excitement as the season progresses!! It’s up to the coaches to minimize any deficits that may exist at any given time during the season! They did very well with that last year! I would expect that to continue this year! Go Bucs!!!

And in the summer of 2020 the Bucs had the worst corners in the league.
