Bombs Away For Breshad Perriman

July 27th, 2022

Play of practice.

With Julio Jones joining the Bucs and so much chatter about Chris Godwin’s rehab and Russell Gage’s addition, it was as if veteran Bucs receiver Breshad Perriman was trying to tell folks, “Hey, don’t forget about me!”

Perriman had the play of practice to open Bucs 2022 training camp.

In 11-on-11 drills early, Tom Brady was behind center in shotgun. Brady took the snap and Perriman bolted down the right hashmarks a good distance, 25-30 yards. Perriman looked to be smothered. He was in double-coverage (Carlton Davis was one) when Brady launched the ball.

Initially, Joe thought the ball may have been underthrown and the reaction of Perriman and the two defenders seemed to suggest the same. Perriman slowed down his route and Davis came back a little not just to provide tighter coverage, but to try to make a play.

Perriman skied over both defenders, came down with the pass, and bolted for the end zone as he housed the play.

It was the play of practice and the Bucs’ faithful who nearly packed the bleachers at One Buc Palace roared their approval.

The offensive players Joe spoke with fully understand that the addition of Julio Jones means there is competition for jobs in the wide receivers room. Today, it looked as if all receivers were practicing for their jobs.

This is machine gun journalism. You guys are pumping out the articles like a gatling gun.

  2. Dooley Says:

Maybe 2-3 spots up for grabs after signing Julio and we’ve got about 6 guys competing for that. Those extra practice squad spots should come in handy for the younger WRs cause there’s steep hill to climb to get some playing time at WR.

No Bucs fan is going to forget that walk away TD against the Bills. Hopefully BP and Scotty make the roster and both come up with a few more legendary catches this season.

    BP is a keeper

I think Perriman and Grayson make the team. Nor sure on Miller, Johnson or Darden, etc.

Joe you need a double column during this year’s training camp. Each day a play of the day on offense and defense. Along with a pole on which was the best play each day with a final tally of which player won the most days.

    Don’t sleep on Breshad

Luv’it Julio is already making an impact. Perriman has the attributes he just has to focus and learn from the all-pros he has the honor to be around. Great competition brings out the best out of everybody. This Bucs team makes pre-season relevant.

  13. Kody Says:

Godwin, Evans, Julio and BP lining up on offense for downs?? Damn, opposing defenses are gonna be shook!

Plus we got Gage, Grayson, Scotty, Cade, Kyle Rudolph and rookie RB Rachaad White with WR-caliber receiving skills?? TB is gonna be breaking some passing records this season!

The defense seems to be 2021 playoff ready.

It’s underwear football, man. No defense looks good in underwear football.

  16. Dooley Says:

    BP is an athletic anomaly

  17. Alvafan Says:

BP was great at UCF. He played there when my kids were going to school. Guys that have been following pro football for a while may have seen his father play for the Lions. (possibly on Thanksgiving) Star player on a losing team. To bad BP chased the money or he would have a ring today. That’s something his dad never got a chance to play for.

  18. MadMax Says:

Nice! Yeah we’re probably keeping him…jmho

  19. Eddie Marz Says:

Perriman can play. Hope he can stay healthy enough to contribute. Can’t see much room for Johnson or Miller. Darden better be good at special teams or he’s a gonner. GOBUCS!
