Big-Name Chatter That Tom Brady May Not Call A Game For Fox

July 19th, 2022

The face of NFL Network, Rich Eisen.

Hours after news broke that Tom Brady agreed to a 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox to be a game analyst and a network ambassador, Joe wrote — and spoke — about how the over/under on Brady keeping the job might be 2 1/2 years.

If you believe Brady when he says he wants to spend more time with family, they why would he want to be on the road 100 days a year?

Plus, Brady can’t just travel like a regular guy without being completely mobbed. He’s not Cris Collinsworth or Drew Brees, or Al Michaels or Troy Aikman. He’s more Michael Jordan or Michael Jackson. That’s a difficult life.

As for that over/under on Brady’s life after football at Fox, it seems the under is becoming a great bet. The face of NFL Network, Rich Eisen, spoke on his Peacock show yesterday about a conversation former Fox NFL announcer Joe Buck had with The Dan LeBatard Show

Buck is skeptical of Brady’s long-term interest in the Fox gig, and Eisen said Buck “is not so sure Brady’s going to show up in the booth for Fox.”

Eisen went on to say, if there’s anybody who could look at a $375 million contract and pass, it’s Brady.

Joe is not suprised by any of this. Assuming Brady is going to do anything other than play football feels like spinning a roulette wheel.

Brady & Gronkowski Dolphins in 2023??

Zero relevance to playing the games this coming season. Typical Joe mindless reporting about nothing. Batting 1000 as usual. LMFAO.

Erik I get your point but it’s a little harsh. Joe does a great job when the football actually begins. It’s not his fault that he’s trying to turn the sow’s ear of the off season into a silk purse.

Joe’s not trying to do anything. Joe spends a full work day studying all things Bucs. When something that interests Joe appears, Joe shares it whether fans like it or not. –Joe

I know it’s frustrating but this IS the news during the off season. Joe does a great job trying to fill dead air as we used to say in broadcasting. Once the music begins Joe will be in perfect tune.

    Are we there yet dad?
When are we going to get the dad?

    She pinched me mom !
I have to go to the bathroom mommy
I am thirsty dad can we stop?
I think I left the faucet running in my bathroom
Why did they take Gruden’s name off the ring at the RayJay, I want it back up
Why doesn’t anyone in Tampa know how good James Wilder was, he should be in the RoH
How many 1 o’clock games in the Ray Jay this year dad , you promised
What where you and mom doing in the bedroom before we left?
Who cut the cheese? Mom roll down your window
If I catch a fish can I keep it this year?
How much longer will the Dead Season last, it seems like it will never end.

But it has everything to do with the Bucs’ starting quarterback and maybe whether he continues his football career with the Bucs after 2022.

If you can’t see that, then Joe can’t help you.

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Will he or won’t he?……Will he play? Will he announce?……speculation abounds…….

  7. Kentucky Buc Says:

Going to have to respectfully disagree with u here Joe. That gig has nothing to do with how long Brady plays but I agree with Buck . Brady never hits the broadcast booth.

  8. GOB Says:

SB~LV, if I have to stop this car, you’re all gonna get it.

  9. Bowles4President Says:

I like the comparison to Michael Jordan or Michael Jackson in public. I didn’t think of that in regards to the Fox job and you are absolutely right.

Brady’s autographs are worth no less than $1,500 a piece and everyone wants to pressure him into signing something. That’s like a guy who theoretically has an endless supply of 50gram gold bars (valued around $1,700) in his hand, and then expecting average joes around him not to lose their minds.

The Fox gig just doesn’t make sense to me practically, logistically, or theoretically.

  10. GOB Says:

The whole thing is strange to me. The booth is kind of beneath Brady. Joe is right to bring his status into the conversation. Why would someone with that kind of star power, become anything but a minority owner. He would get to effect the direction of a franchise, instead of commenting on games. Maybe that’s down the road a bit.

I agree with Kentucky. Maybe he makes some special guest appearances, but I can’t see Brady grinding it out in the booth, week in week out. I’ll buy the ambassador role, but WTF does the league need to be promoted? It’s the most popular spot, in the richest country in the world. Maybe they send him across the pond, in an attempt to revive NFL Europe.

  11. Vgb Says:

Tom brady as he has said ” I honor my contracts if I put my name on it” he has also said he is looking forward to it..wants very much to stay in football..no good Ole buck just does not want to be in bradys shadow…the contract if not mistaken his not doing 17 games only big games and branding ..and nfl ambassador…that’s doesn’t sound on the road alot — Actually, as it’s been explained, Brady would be in the booth every week as part of the No. 1 broadcast duo. That’s 23 or 24 weeks including preseason and postseason, plus other events as a FOX ambassador (not NFL ambassador). –Joe

  12. Hodad Says:

Camp opening soon. Maybe then we talk football instead of he said, she said. Oh, and joe buck is an over rated Brady jealous A hole.

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The benefit of print (and, I consider this like the print media except it has broadcast capabilities also)……but the benefit is space vs time. With broadcast there is limited time. With print there is unlimited space……and it really costs no more to use it.
So, print away the more articles the better. Skip the ones you don’t like.
It’s not as obtrusive as broadcast……there it;s hard to tune out in the moment.

Now if this was like Ira’s old fish wrapper…..the space there did cost extra money.

  14. Crickett Baker Says:

This time of year it is really difficult to find interesting football news. Some sites are doing different player’s life stories. Some are saying just anything for “click-bait”. I think Joes do pretty darn good. As for Brady, I hope and feel that he is going to take over for Goodall eventually and if so, I think it would be his ideal job.

  15. Show Me the TDs Says:

In other news, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck just got married. No one cares. This isn’t joebucsTMZ.com

  16. Lakeland Steve Says:

Elita Vita, put the crack pipe down before you hurt yourself.

  17. Chris Tucker@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

When u are as rich as Brady, Money may not be his true motivation, so I can see him not taking the 375 million dollar contract to play football, and win another Super Bowl.

  18. BucsfanFred Says:

One week from today the stories will start to get much better.

  19. BucsfanFred Says:

    I mean fron tommorow

  20. Jeff Says:

Brady has a bad voice for color commentary. He’s no Ira! Lol! 😂

  21. Goatfarmer Says:

Joe Buck is so jealous of Brady it’s sad. And Buck is horrible. To me, unlistenable. Cliche’s, platitudes and regurgitations. Retire before you ruin your dad’s legacy, Doh Buck.

  22. Browsing from DC Says:

I can see Brady in the booth for a year or two then switching to the studio gig with Bradshaw and the boys. In L.A. and no travel. He also has a place in NYC where his son Jack lives so I wouldn’t be shocked to see Fox oblige him and set up something there – remote studio sort of thing with a “partner” to do some pre-game breakdowns, pot game analysis. No travel, all of his kids are there, etc.

Tom will be fine with however “retirement” goes because he can truly call the shots.

Training camp is almost here! Go Bucs!
