Mike Evans No. 73

June 16th, 2022

Mike Evans.

Joe likes to think we are watching history.

Mike Evans has never had less than 1,000 yards receiving in a season. He holds the NFL record for most consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons to begin a career (currently at eight).

And Evans has a ring, too. Add all of this up, and Joe believes Evans is trending sharply to a Hall of Fame career.

In cobbling together his annual 100 best players list, prickly Pete Prisco of CBS Sports claimed Evans is a sneaky good big-play threat, not a possession receiver.

Prisco ranks Evans at No. 73.

He remains a big-play threat in the Tampa Bay offense, averaging 14.0 yards on his 74 catches last season with 14 touchdowns. He is entering his ninth season, but still can get behind defensive backs.

And here is why Joe thinks Evans will have another big year: Tom Brady trusts him.

With nutcase Antonio Brown gone; Chris Godwin on the shelf rehabbing from knee surgery and a mysterious illness from Russell Gage, Joe has a strong hunch Brady is going to lean on Evans a lot.

And oh yeah, Evans can still get past the best corners. Hey Jalen Ramsey, Evans says hi.

“lol that looked like Stealing candy from a baby

The day is coming, that Mike will be wearing a yellow Jacket and giving his speech in Canton.
Good for you Mike. Hopefully Todd Monken is there that day, he helped Mikes Career in a big way. Between the birth of a child and Monken being hired by Dirk, Mike began to really mature as a player, and his game went to another level.

    GO BUCS!!!!

For many years I’ve been reading pete’s lists since the Joes post them and every single.list has been absolute garbage. pete routinely puts lesser players ahead of our guys and it just makes me giggle at this point. I know that the (mostly) clowns in the national media are chronically down on our guys, but this list is truly sad. Geez, have you no dignity prisco?

  3. Goatfarmer Says:

    Mike is HOF

  4. firethecannons Says:

Jameis had huge faith in ME13–he’d throw to him in triple coverage over and over
He needs his 1000 yd and the way there in 2022 will be paved with play action

  5. Bucs Win Says:

    HOF

  6. 1#bucsfan Says:

Best WR in Bucs history. Most consistent in the nfl. Look at the yards but also look at the QBs he had throwing to him especially at the beginning of his career

  7. Bucsfanman Says:

The production speaks for itself. There is no arguing that Mike’s THE best WR in Bucs history and most likely a HOFer..

  8. UKBuccaneer Says:

Johnny Manziel and Jameis Winston both owe Mike big time.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

All that talent and still no DIVA…..

  10. Razor Ramone Says:

ME 13 is the real deal, great player, great guy. I like those red and white uni’s.

  11. SOEbuc Says:

So he continued 1,000+ yards to eight and franchise record at 14 TD, breaking the record the season prior with 13 TD. Brady and the Bucs are 6 while choke artist Rodgers is now without Devante Adams is two. At least it is so blatant the NFL bases numbers by fan base and media numbers. I’ll watch the USFL if I want a correct list of players.

  12. SOEbuc Says:

*breaking his franchise record year prior.

  13. Eddie Marz Says:

What a play! Couldn’t throw it any better. Where only Mike could catch it. Glad Evans is a Buc! Great catch. GOBUCS!

  14. SlyPirate Says:

1000 YARDS THIS SEASON IS HUGE

Mike ties Larry Fitz, Terrell Owens, Tim Brown for 1,000-yard seasons (9)

… Only Moss (10) and Rice (14) have more

THINK ABOUT THAT … Mike already has as many or more 1000 yard seasons than every WR not listed above (Isaac Broce, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Cris Carter, Julio Jones, Andre Reed, Steve Largent, Antonio Brown, Calvin Johnson …)

  15. WalkdaPlank Says:

Evans has been quietly amassing a Hall of Fame career all these years while garnering disrespect from the rest of the league and its fans.

Honestly it is a thing of beauty to see him do his thing and still somehow be below the radar.
