Rookie DL Logan Hall
One thing worrying Joe this season is experience on defense.
Oh, the Bucs mostly have experience but only one veteran is known for getting sacks, and that’s Shaq Barrett.
It sure looks like Jason Pierre-Paul and Ndamukong Suh are gone. So it seems the Bucs are going to put a whole lot of pressure on Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Logan Hall for a pass rush. That’s two guys with a combined one season of NFL experience.
Some think Hall may play on the inside but is too tall for defensive tackle. He’s 6-6. But Bowles said a tall guy on the inside is actually ideal.
“No, it’s very rare you can get a 6’ 6” [defensive] lineman these days. They all move to the offensive line.
“If you can get a prototype, Calais Campbell-type, Will Gholston-type – a guy that can bat down balls and is still athletic enough to do all the things you need him to do – you want the length.”
Although Bowles confessed he could do without Hall’s height when Bowles approaches him.
“When you walk up to him he’s a big man, first of all,” Bowles said. “I really don’t look up to anybody but him being 6-6 and me being about 6-2, I really have to snap my neck to look up at him.”
Bowles gave Hall major props for being a humble guy yet possessing a fierce worth ethic. “I like that about him,” Bowles said.

If they are going to depend on JTS and Hall alone to generate the pass rush, big problem.
Suh is gone? I’m not convinced yet. They badly need to get him back, or the best DT still left in FA. Plus one of the elite edge still in FA. There are several. Given the ridiculous schedule, there is no way they will get double digit wins without more reinforcements.
As for prototypes for Hall to shoot for, Willie McGinest 6-5 268. Richard Seymour 6-6 310.

I’m concerned without JPP and Suh to ground JTS and his headless chicken act, and the rookie from Houston. Very much need Nelson to continue to blossom, and someone like Cam Gill to surprise and explode on the scene. Shaq needs to keep after it, he’s no secret any more. And Diva White needs to stop trying to win MVP on every play and just do his job.
Without the vets Suh and JPP I’m afraid the unit can get more undisciplined than we’ve seen.
And Todd is now the head coach so it’s even more up to the position coaches to get on these guys.
I’m not optimistic about the front seven at the moment.
