Wildest Offseason Story Is…

April 7th, 2022

Tom Brady wins (again).

This was the greatest news any Bucs fan could have hoped for. But it came at a price.

Tom Brady nearly made the world stop spinning when he announced on a Sunday night, right when folks were filling out their NCAA brackets, that he would return to the Bucs.

And it ended up costing the Bucs the greatest coach in franchise history.

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports put together a list of the wildest stories of the NFL offseason. And Brady topped it.

1. Tom Brady returns from retirement

You win, Tom. Everyone and their mother had an inkling that Brady didn’t actually wanna step away from the game when he announced his retirement following the season, but even so, his abrupt Sunday-night pledge to return for a 23rd season at age 45 instantly confirmed him as the storyline of 2022. Next up: an eighth Super Bowl ring?

Just look at the domino effect that announcement sparked. Pretty soon almost every decent Bucs free agent wanted to come back and other free agents wanted to sign with the Bucs.

In a matter of hours, Bucs fans went from peering into the abyss with Blaine Gabbert as the starting quarterback to fans believing in a Super Bowl (again), baby!

See what a stud quarterback can do?

theres only one thing left for brady to do… a perfect season. sadly i think tampas schedules gonna be too much for that this year… ill settle for a SB

one of those sports memories you remember where you were sitting when it happened. lfg

The Bucs still have issues to address. The SLOW starts in games. Just wonder who is ‘scripting’ the game plan. Then there is the pass defense. So many boast teams can not run on the Bucs. Perhaps they do not even try to run the ball because of the wonder pass coverage of the Bucs. Coaching staff MUST address these issues!

All things are possible when Tom Brady is at QB…..

Yes…our schedule is very difficult but it is also for our NFC South opponents…..all we have to do is win the division…earn a home playoff game and go from there.

    Doable.

I’m just so happy Brady is back with the Bucs. GO BUCS!

  6. BitcoinTom Says:

I’m gonna enjoy every single game this year because it would potentially be Brady’s last dance. I’m just happy he is a buc.

  7. Steven007 Says:

James, according to the blog experts, Brady scripts the successful opening plays, leftwhich scripts the unsuccessful ones. Simple as that as Lovie used to say. /s

  8. DG060 Says:

Now we have another Mike Florio story saying Brady wanted to go to Miami.
    Is this guy on drugs?

  9. Alanbucsfan Says:

Dolphin fans may forget all about Brady if they win their division- and they just might with all their upgrades on offense and new coaching staff.

  10. Eddie Marz Says:

Win the division and get a bye week. I think that might have changed how last year finished. With all the injuries they couldn’t afford to lose Wirfs in that first playoff game also.GOBUCS!

What if we all have the upcoming season wrong and Brady is now Drew Bledsoe and Kyle Trask wins the first of 7 rings?

Steven007, would rather have a coach who couldn’t wear his Sony Walkman around his waist because his pants would fall down than a 7 time SB winning QB. Yes the one that won his first year in Tampa after a miserable 7-9 2019. My guess is TB12 and BL will do what they tried to do in 2021 before the child with his red sharpie took a hissy fit and colored all over it. Say what you want but I have watched Brady for 22 years and NEVER shake off a Charlie Weiss, Bill O’Brien and Josh McDaniels play call and he sure as hell never questioned a Belichick timeout. He did both multiple times in Tampa, even in the SB and first game in 2021. What does that tell ya?

  13. Goatfarmer Says:

Listophrenic – Brady left the Pats for the Bucs. What does that tell you?

Please go cheer for your Pudriots and STFU.

According to @List, Brady has never audibled a play in his career.

Audibles = Shaking off the coaches play call.

Statements like this are how you know, to quote Bugs Bunny, that @List is a maroon.

I guess the Bill O’Brien vs TB12 sideline fight never happened at New England during a nationally broadcast game, where Bellicheck had to separate both men from each other on the sideline before they were about to come to blows.

@List is trying to use his Jedi mind tricks by pretending that this is not TB12 cursing out his coach and wanting to fight him that you’re looking for.

    You’re a maroon @List.

One of my favorite TB12 blow ups on his own coaches was dura Pats c Bills game where TB12 cursed out his coach Josh McDaniels.

What made it even more hilarious was Tony Toni’s lip reading of that below up during the broadcast.

But you’re right, TB12 never had any issues with his coaches at New England.

    You’re a maroon, @List.

That’s an easy call with this fanbase. Slow starts are on BL and BA…which is pretty funny considering everybody here believes Brady calls ALL the shots including those normally left to Licht and the Glazers!

C’mon guys you can’t have it both ways. If Brady was indeed calling the offensive shots the slow starts are as much on the man who can walk on Tampa Bay as anybody else with the Bucs.

This is not a slam on Brady. He’ll figure it out. I look to the future not the past.

  19. Listnfrmafar Says:

Belleclown and Goatlikr, an audible is not looking to the side lines and saying NO I’m not running that. They didn’t teach you that on your so called national championship D3 team? Stpid, I would assume the initial play calls are a product of all 3. If you average 30 pts a game does it matter when in the game they score. I’ve read in the Bill’s 28-3 the O didn’t score enough in the 2nd half the Rams playoff game not enough in the 1st half, which is it? Reality is defensive plays are paid to stop the offense, it’s call adjustments. Now Belleboy will make up some moronic twist to make him look like the little turd in school that got his arse kicked everyday because he couldn’t keep his pie hole shut.

When you’re the size of an College Scholarship Guard like me, not to many people like to mess with you.

When you were poor like me, taking lunches was easy when you were as big as me.

In fact, some might have accused me of being a bully, but that’s ancient history.

@Listntoatard, I thought you were done with me. HAHAHA!!!!!

@Listntoatard, you said TB12 never had a problem with his coaches, but the video shows TB12 cussing out 2 of his coaches and almost fighting one of them.

This is how it works in modern football. The coaches communicate with the QB’s in their helmets up to 15 seconds before the snap. TB12 has shaken his coach off many a times and hand signaled No many a times to his coach.

Sorry you weren’t aware of that. When he shakes him off, then he’s calling the play.

    Just a question.

Why do you you think about licking goats when you see the word goat?
