New Bucs head coach Todd Bowles has a ton of pressure on his shoulders.
Time is short. A Super Bowl is this year’s expectation. And the team set itself up with salary cap concerns for future seasons.
Bowles loves the win-now edict. “You don’t want low expectations That shows a loser,” Bowles told WDAE Radio last week.
But he also went on to say the Bucs have a lot work to do in many areas and the head coach is behind after the surprise (allegedly) Bucco Bruce Arians’ handoff of power in late March (call it 3rd down on the 50 and needing a touchdown with 34 seconds remaining).
Bowles told SiriusXM NFL Radio that he has yet to study offensive players in the draft and needs to catch up in a hurry. Yes, Bowles plans to be heavily involved in that process.
Bowles also emphasized on local radio that it’s important to recognize that the Bucs are no longer a Super Bowl team. That’s just a happy memory at this point. “We don’t carry that banner anymore,” he said.

This is Brady’s team not Bowles. Nice guys don’t win Super bowls Bowles is a nice guy. He’s just another Lovie Smith only with Brady. Tony Dungy won a Super bowl because of Manning. Bowles will win one this year as long he doesn’t make a stupid defensive call.

We will never be a super bowl team again, unless we fix our defense.
We have no pass rush, unless we blitz, and that exposes our secondary.

Let’s call it 2nd down on the 40 with 28 seconds left and all your D needs to do is keep the opposing team from getting into field goal range. Whatever you do please don’t all out blitz the best QB in the league against the blitz. That could cost you a SB. Clean slate, discipline and focus. Nothing wrong with the occasional piece of humble pie.

Nice guys don’t win Super Bowls? That mentality is so ridiculous. A lot of the coaches who won the SB are “nice guys”. Half the players are “nice guys”.
If you can play, execute, and coach it doesn’t matter.
Bill Walsh, Dick Vermeil, Tony Dungee, Pete Carroll, Andy Reid, Mike McCarthy… These are all coaches to have once your bows and are considered “nice guys “.

We better win it this year because it’s a good possibility that Brady is gone after this year. Then we may be in a little salary cap hell next year. So it’s Super Bowl or bust.
