Warren Sapp: No Tom Brady-Bruce Arians Rift

March 1st, 2022

“You believe that Mr. Glazer?”

Buccaneers legend Warren Sapp never misses a Tampa Bay game and he’s got a clear pipeline to a lot of key people in the organization.

Sapp also loves to fire away when it comes to his football opinions and organizational knowledge.

No. 99 was on WDAE Radio recently with his former Bucs teammate, Ian Beckles, and was adamant that there was never a rift between Tom Brady and Bucco Bruce Arians.

Sapp settled in on Brady-Arians conversation after blasting quitter Antonio Brown and taking a shot at cornerback Carlton Davis.

“No. No. No. No. No,” was Sapp’s response to the question of whether Brady and Arians clashed to the point of Brady wanting out of Tampa.

Arians is way “too cool for that,” Sapp said.

“He allowed Brady to bend and mold and talk with Byron [Leftwich] and get the things he wanted in the offense. Bill [Belicheat] never let him do that. …When you get [what you want in football], you just want to take off.”

Sapp likened Brady to the Bucs defense when Jon Gruden arrived as head coach in 2002. Per Sapp, Chucky cut back Father Dungy’s relentless, 1970’s-style practice schedule and players appreciated him and loved him for it.

As Joe has stated, of course Brady and Arians clashed here and there. It would be moronic to think to passionate, thinking men wouldn’t. Smart and serious fans clash all the time over playcalls and front office decisions.

To think Brady quit, in part because of coaching that led him to a Super Bowl and record stats, is wacky — unless Brady’s ego is completely out of control.

Not one player/coach/person including Brady has provided any solid evidence that there was a rift…..
This is a completely media-manufactured story because it’s too boring for Tom to have retired because of his family.
If that were the case….the story would end right there.

Until I hear Brady say otherwise…..he left while he was healthy and on the top of his game.
Might he return……sure….but none of this has to do with Arians.

JBF posters who had a previous beef with Arians are falling for this hook, line & sinker….None of the rest of us are.

  2. SufferingSince76 Says:

Yet, we have so many on this site who pretend to actually know about the supposed rift. Ben Green for one, who you know is still around under one of his other aliases. Warren doesn’t sugar coat anything, so I’m believing him.

  3. Marine Buc Says:

TB12 didn’t leave for just one reason. More than likely he retired due to a list of multiple issues…

    Salary cap situation
Roster issues – 26 Free Agents
More time with wife and kids
    Grew tired of BA/BL (allegedly)
    The AB situation

Maybe he didn’t want to captain a sinking ship and damage his image as a “winner” and “GOAT”.

I would like to know – why did LVD speak out about chaos in the Bucs locker room? LVD is not a player who normally speaks publicly like that.

  4. zzbuc Says:

Competitions in between journalists, end up always in tabloid fake news….
ratings and money is the only thing that cares…..
Welcome to the new era……You can make up whatever story you like, and there will be a portion of the world who will trust you…

    Pure nonsense!!!

  5. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I don’t think Arians ran Brady off, I think Brady read the writing on the wall, and realized we were not going to win a Super Bowl next year, so he retired.

  6. Listnfrmafar Says:

I heard yesterday Shaun Payton and Brady were going to be coach and QB for Miami (Brady owns part if the team) in 2022 but it all got blown up once Flores decided to sue Miami for discrimination. Don’t shoot the nessager, all over Boston sports radio.

  7. New England Patriots Fan Says:

Oddly nearly every major sports media site and show have covered the story that TB wanted to be traded to Miami in 2022 to play with Coach Sean Payton also trade to Miami in the AFC. Both retired and were going to request trades.

The Flores situation and the rigging investigation ruined this and the NFL owners got angry as it wouldve been tampering kinda.

But JBF hasn’t even mentioned the rumours or the story or someone to shut it down inside the Miami or Tampa camp.

  8. BUCman Says:

Marine Buc, I think when LVD spoke of “chaos” it was an unfortunate choice of words. I believe he was more refering to all the “adversity” they had to deal with this year from injuries to the fake vaccine cards to AB’s melt down, etc…..From everything that we’ve heard they had a great culture in the locker room. Pretty sure that’s still the case.

  9. BuxfaninTX Says:

What about Carlton Davis that you mentioned?

  10. DoooshLaRue Says:

Jesus H Christ Private Sapp…….. that shirt is a got dam modern art masterpiece!

  11. DoooshLaRue Says:

Chucky cut back Father Dungy’s relentless, 1970’s-style practice schedule and players appreciated him and loved him for it.

………..but but but, I thought Chucky was a meany race-ist?

  12. Ash Says:

I feel it was all about family and his other businesses nothing else, cap they would have kicked that can down the road and fielded a competitive team if tom came back you can’t convince me otherwise. Seems very hard to except that a 44 year old NFL player decided after over 20 years in the league that it was time to move on to a different part of his life for media and some fans to except. Can’t wait until this slow news cycle is over and draft starts so we can stop kicking this dead horse it’s had enough.

  13. Craig Says:

Brady wanted to see what life looked like without Belichek. He also wanted to prove he was not just a product of Bill’s system.

He did those things and that almost finished off his football bucket list. Thanks for the memories, but it is time to just move on.

  14. Sparky Says:

    @SufferingSince76
Yeah, Ben Green is definitely an idiot, with his “sources.”

As for the Dolphins rumors….all I’ve seen is that the Dolphins WANTED TB and Payton. No duh, so would almost every team. I havent heard anything that says either one wanted to go there either before or after the Flores situation. It never went anywhere partly because New Orleans didn’t give them permission to talk to Payton and also because Brady isn’t interested in playing anymore. Which is why he retired. Duh.

  15. buddy Says:

Sapp misses plenty of Bucs games Joe

  16. BUCman Says:

Yes, let’s hope ben green is a man of his word and has left this site for good. If he is using an alias it won’t be hard to sniff him out with his statements

  17. Buc4lyfe79 Says:

Tom Brady = clicks, period. When you have no news to report, Tom Brady = clicks period.

  18. Listnfrmafar Says:

Sparky, some are also saying the Belichick/Flores text was no mistake, tipping Flores off prevented TB12 and Payton to cause havoc in the AFC East.

  19. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

I still think Bowles making the team step on an upturned rake wort that last play call may have been a hugely deflating moment that could have played a role in making Brady say “no more”

  20. Joe Says:

Tom Brady = clicks, period. When you have no news to report, Tom Brady = clicks period.

Yeah. Who wants to read about the greatest quarterback of all time who may come back to the Bucs. Same guy won the Bucs a Super Bowl. But nah, Joe should ignore such a popular player and write about what “real fans” want to read: K.J. Britt updates.

Joe has the most popular Bucs site around. So Joe thinks he has an understanding what Bucs fans enjoy reading.

As Martin Fennelly once said, “You can never write enough about the stars.”

  21. Bucwatchingnut Says:

The one person who could put this rift to rest is Tom Brady. The fact that he is well aware of the controversy and remained silent tells me all I need to know. If the rift didn’t exist I’m pretty sure Brady would let us know. His silence says more on the issue than the array of Tampa Sports Media talking heads trying to defend BA. The sad thing is that next season will likely be a tail spin for the Bucs and Bruce Arians will whisper “that’s all folks” and head into the sunset.

I fear BA’s ego might not only have cost us a Super Bowl but pushed the greatest quarterback in history out the door…..

  22. Bucs Win Says:

Couldn’t have said it better myself Joe.
