Leonard Fournette Is Back!

March 22nd, 2022

Welcome back, Lombardi Lenny!

Up next, a Jason Licht appreciation statue and a Rob Gronkowski contract!

What glorious news delivered by ESPN. It’s a three-year contract, after a Monday of flirting with the Patriots.

Leonard Fournette is coming home to where he feels best — nestled in the bosom of Tom Brady.

Joe doesn’t see the contract number yet, but it appears the Bucs have caved to Fournette’s demands. If he’s paid like a top-10 running back, then he’ll earn $7 million this season at minimum (aka Doug Martin money.)

Hey, he earned it after being an all-around beast for the Bucs for the past season and a half. Bucco Bruce Arians once firmly declared he doesn’t “overpay for that position.” So Joe hopes Arians is a happy man this morning.

Joe knows Tom Brady is.

    LOVE IT!!!

  2. BucBrady Says:

He’s getting a 3 year deal worth 21 million, with the ability to up it to 24 million.

  3. SufferingSince76 Says:

    Great news! C’mon, Gronk.

  4. Goatfarmer Says:

I have to lock myself in the bathroom for a few minutes……

  5. deuceswild78 Says:

not sure how they’ve done it… but glad they did… he definitely would have been missed as we didn’t have an all around back with his talent on the roster

  6. SKBucsFan Says:

Seems reasonable. Hopefully this keeps us from drafting an RB in early rounds now.

  7. Eric Says:

Great job, Jason! One more big offensive signing left! #GronkyKong

  8. #8 Says:

    woot.
Gronk is a when, not if.
    Suh, JPP, Gholston are left.

Would be awesome to go into the draft to truly snag the best players available vs having to fill a need.

  9. Smashsquatch Says:

Kind of shocked. Where the hell is all the dough coming from? Licht’s calculator is the best in the biz.

  10. Bird Says:

Maybe its lesser amount but closer to fully guaranteed

  11. LVMYBUCS Says:

    YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. TDTB2022 Says:

    3yrs. 21 mil

  13. Anonymous Says:

Hope it’s not a big money, but he deserves good money. He’s a great back and has great chemistry with TB.

  14. tampabayallday Says:

Im happy with the deal. James Connor scored 15 TD’s and got more I think. Lenny earned this one.

  15. TDTB2022 Says:

Brady’s extension probably helped Lenny’s contract.

  16. David Says:

WOW! After everything we heard, I thought he priced himself out of the Buccaneers and there was no chance he would be coming back. This is fantastic!!

    Welcome back !!

  17. Beeej Says:

    That’s not unreasonable

  18. mark2001 Says:

    Maybe a little high….but not unreasonable. Next… Gronk….

  19. Casual Observer Says:

Wow! Really didn’t expect this. What a great signing. Now, with Gronk, they are all set in the offense. Amazing.

  20. mark2001 Says:

“I have to lock myself in the bathroom for a few minutes……” Not with a picture of Jameis, like some of the diehard Winston fans do, I hope. LOL.

  21. PassingThru Says:

Glad he’s back, but that contract is definitely on the high side.

  22. Marine Buc Says:

I’m glad he is back – now lets sign some defensive lineman.

    Suh, Gholston, JPP

    LFG!

  23. Bobby M. Says:

I feel like this team is now built to transition to Trask should Brady walk away after next season. He’ll have three great WRs….a very productive RB….o-line will be solid.

  24. SlyPirate Says:

BEST PART OF THESE SIGNINGS …

Multiyear, affordable contracts. The Bucs can reload via the draft while giving their young talent time to develop into quality starters.

Licht is creating a long-term winner.

  25. mark2001 Says:

Wanted 12 a year… got 7. Twice what he made last year. Sounds like everyone won this negotiation.

  26. Buc4evr Says:

The Bucs overpaid and it sounds like ROJO is gone? Lenny won’t make it three seasons, wonder if any is guaranteed? More concerned about Gronk and the defense.

  27. Defense Rules Says:

Fantastic! Lenny has been critical to this offense for the past 2 years, and it’s awesome to know he’ll be with us for another 3 years. And Mark … he deserves every penny of that $21 mil, especially considering that he’s been with us for TWO years & has earned a total of less than what he’ll now get in ONE year. This is much closer to his true value to OUR offense.

Casual Observer … Agree that getting Gronk back is the key now, but we still need another TE, at least 1 more RB, probably a 3rd QB, and more depth on our OLine. I could see us drafting a TE (good blocking TE especially), re-signing Gio & most likely Gabbert & then fleshing out the OLine. Defense still needs LOTS of work (especially our DLine), but I’m convinced they’ll do the right thing to give us a chance to compete for this Super Bowl.

  28. SteveK Says:

    Welcome back workhorse!

What a stud, a great athlete, and very nimble and explosive for a big man. He is like a real life hybrid version of WD-40.

The move that allows us to compete.

Now extend Tom, bring back more guys- LFG!

  29. Beeej Says:

I wonder if part of that meeting Brady had with the Glazers was prioritizing offense on the FA signings

  30. mark2001 Says:

DR…that is why I said everyone won in this negotiation. The number might be a bit high considering how Arians usually values RB’s. But I think it is fine…everyone won.

  31. HC Grover Says:

The Bucs are back in town!

  32. New England Patriots Fan Says:

Lenny was a key piece and he has Brady’s trust which took half a season to earn. He got good money, good for him, this is probably his final real deal.

  33. David Says:

    Brady, Trask
    Lenny, Vaughn
    Gronk, Brate
Evans, Godwin, Gage, Perriman, Grayson … Johnson?, Miller, Darden
Smith, Stinnie, Jensen, Mason, Wirfs … Hainsey, Leverette

Wow. Two weeks ago 7 of these players we did not think or were not sure would be on this team.

Offense is looking good. Definitely see TE, RB, 0L drafted after a focus on defense in the first couple rounds

  34. Beeej Says:

If he could do everything except be a good receiver, then no. Dude caught 69 balls last year, he’s a bonafide pass catcher, not just a rock toter. And every time he catches a pass, it’s 5-10 yards where there probably would have been zero

  35. Casual Observer Says:

Defense – I agree with you . But those suggestions are minor compared to the starters we now have. Can get in the draft or (cheap) free agents. IMO.

  36. DEEEMO Says:

    WOW!!!!! BIG SIGNING!!!!

  37. Obie-Wan Says:

Remember we had a lot of talent last year but then injuries occurred don’t pencil into the Super Bowl yet everyone’s forgetting about the fact that an injury here or there changes everything

  38. Steven007 Says:

Mark, I agree. But given what Dan Connor and Chase Edmonds have gotten recently, far less accomplished backs than Lenny, it’s a good deal all around.

Lenny was a key piece and he has Brady’s TRUST which took half a season to earn. He got good money, good for him, this is probably his final real deal.

For all the ROJO fans, this post by “NE Pats Fan” says it all why ROJO saw less and less playing time. 1 word T R U S T. It was Brady and not BA as to why ROJO was not on the field more.
Lenny earned it and ROJO did not.
And now he gets rewarded, good for him.
Way to turn your career around Lombardi Lenny

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  40. D-Rome Says:

Up next, a Jason Licht appreciation statue and a Rob Gronkowski contract!

I take back every negative thing I have ever said about Jason Licht. The man deserves a statue in his honor and it should be larger than the Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil.

  41. RottenAmiigo94 Says:

Amen Joe. The glazers better be putting a pretty penny into a statue of Brady, Arians and Licht. Made from the finest materials. It’s crazy how we went from how are we going to fill all these massive holes. Now it’s taking the best talent in the draft. Times have changed significantly appreciate these glorious days Bucs fans.

  42. Elaine cali Says:

    Let’s GO!!!!!!

  43. Infomeplease Says:

Rotten Amigo, you are correct sir… THESE ARE THE GOOD OLD DAYS!!!

  44. Cobraboy Says:

So Licht let Fournette test the market. Not surprised.

    A 3yr. dealio? I wonder if Brady signs a two-year extension.

One wonders if the last-second collapse against the Rams really pi$$ed off Brady, and now he’s bound and determined to seek revenge.

  45. Itsgoodtobetheking Says:

    Only matters whats guarenteed.

  46. Glenn Williams Says:

I rather have Ronald Jones to be honest. Ronald was a better explosive running back but Lenny is a better pass catcher and blocker. I understand the move but still prefer RoJo

  47. Beeej Says:

The last time I saw Grady throw a ball to Rojo, he gently lobbed it like he was throwing a beach ball to your 3-year-old

  48. David Says:

    Glenn Williams

You are correct that Rojo is more explosive runner but if you cannot run a route and catch the ball and pass protect, especially in today’s NFL, there are very few teams who have much of a use for you. Especially a team with Brady who leads the league in passing attempts.
On top of that, playoff Lenny was a little butt hurt and was told straight up how it is and he sucked it up, dealt with it, and produced. Every time Rojo gets his feelings hurt, they have to handle him with kid gloves. Just doesn’t seem like he’s mentally strong at all

  49. The Coroner Says:

    All Rise.
    Hail Licht! Hail Licht!

  50. HC Grover Says:

    LFG

  51. Aaron Says:

Nobody wanted him but Shady brady wasn’t worth it told y’all Shady would get the money for him

  52. stone crab sam Says:

    yes yes yes. LFG.

  53. Leda Says:

    Love it !!!

  54. YetiBucSmash Says:

I threw away the viagra today…no longer needed!

  55. Daryl Green Says:

Well there’s go my dream for Saqoun Barkley.

Ok Gronk, Ghoulston, Suh and another corner.

  56. Colonel Angus Says:

This off season has proven that there is no need to sweat about the salary cap.

  57. bucfan34 Says:

    Hells yeah!!

  58. Chris K Says:

But but but all the trolls I mean GM’s told us we couldn’t bring in all these guys including playoff Lenny. How is this possible? All the trolls, I mean couch GM’s are experts and have all the knowledge we could only dream our front office had.

  59. John Collins Says:

Still remember Brady text to Lenny to go low and hard against chiefs they can’t tackle and he did to help sb win. Last season he addressed the team at halftime to give 100% every second of every play which he demonstrated for the win. Its a good feeling to have Lenny back representing

  60. Oddball Says:

    Lenny mas bueno.

    Oddball wrong like super insiders.

  61. steele Says:

Well, I can’t say I’m happy about this. I really thought they could do better than Lenny. This may haunt them down the road.

There’s still room on the roster for other backs. I hope they make it a competition in camp.
