A Night Bucs Fans Won’t Forget

February 8th, 2022

Night of nights.

It was such a short time ago; it seems like a lifetime ago.

Yesterday marked the one-year anniversary of the Bucs winning their second champion, largely on the backs of a guy who just retired and a ferocious defense that caught fire at the right time.

The Bucs held the unstoppable Chiefs offense out of the end zone the whole night, winning the Super Bowl 31-9.

Joe remembers the press box that night — it was so weird driving to a Super Bowl much less being in one.

Joe was so respective of Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes that Joe didn’t think the game was won until Devin White picked off a Mahomes pass late in the game. Joe had seen Mahomes rally the Chiefs down three scores in a blink of an eye.

Once the game ended and the confetti filled the sky and the cannons boomed for what seemed like a half-hour, Joe kept staring at the field in disbelief.

Joe, like all Bucs fans, had suffered through the Lost Decade. Was this really happening? Did the Bucs just win a Super Bowl? With Brady, with Rob Gronkowski, with Antonio Brown and with Leonard Fournette? In Tampa? Is this some sort of Crown Royal-infused dream Joe was experiencing?

It really felt like an out-of-body experience.

And it really was a Super Bowl win, for the Bucs.

the one thing better than the Bucs winning 2 Super Bowls is that they dominated in both of them…
Most recently beating the ‘hottest’ team in years, who were expected to be dominate, held to only 9 points, NO touch downs!…

Total hallucination in a 4-dimensional new-age Madden simulation.

We’re snapping out of it now and will be experiencing game-ending pick sixes and busted coverages galore on our way to a 5-12 record in seven short months.

    Awesome games!!!!

With the right quarterback they still have a window to win another over the next couple of years.

  4. steele Says:

What a great game that was. For the ages.

Now I’m sorry to interrupt the nice memories with a reality check but…the quarterbacks in the Senior Bowl all looked mostly awful. Pickett, Strong, Howell, Willis, Ridder….they all look better on tape. This throws a wrench into the draft.

I’m still intrigued with the idea of a cheap trade for the likes of Drew Lock or Mike White. Denver is going for a big name, or keeping Bridgewater, and Lock is in the doghouse. Similarly, White won’t be the starter for the NYJ. Both of them are virtual rookies but with enough starting experience to work with. Both have shown capabilities that opportunity, consistency and better coaching might provide.

Love all the “sorry now back to reality” comments on this site. Reality is we got two super bowls, no one can take them away, and more than half the league wishes they were 2 time super bowl Champs, I will take it all day long and twice on Sunday!

The have 2 Lombardis at 1 Buc Palace.

Most teams have not won 2 times.
4 Teams still have not even played in the Super Bowl

As good as the Vikings were, they still are 0-4
    and the Bill 0-4

Just for good measure in the Bucs Division
    Atl 0-2
    Carolina 0-2

All the winning the Saints have done but yet 1-0 in the Super Bowl
Yep the Bucs are the Kings of the NFC South at 2-0 baby!!

So no matter if the Bucs have had several lost decades, mid 80’s to mid 90’s and the lost decade of the “den of depression, the Bucs still have multiple Lombardi Trophys, and other teams wish they were the Bucs.

    GO WORLD CHAMPION BUCS!!!!!
Can still say that until the end of the Super Bowl on Sun lol

  9. FortMyersDave Says:

No offense SwampBuc but didn’t you predict 6-11 midway through last year and then doubled down on Carolina dominating the WFT? You lost a lost of cred and respect with many posters with that way off the mark prediction so lets just say I doubt if many people will call you out anymore, your posts became irrelevant like the NY Jets when you floated that moronic prediction.

Gotta say this last SB was amazing to hold the chiefs to 3 points after they humiliated us in that same season. What hill have like 200 yards recieving in the 1st qrt lol just pure amazement. Then think about our 2002 Bucs and how dominant our defense was back then to get after a hall of famer like rich Gannon and just light the raiders up. Gooo Bucs. I believe this team will do another amazing season next year.

The video missed the best part of that game…… Winfield and the ✌️!! Payback Super Bowl was incredible!!

  13. Bird Says:

Watched all games multiple times over past 2 years
Probably seen the super bowl 15 times

Defense played what 6 good games the last 2 years
Brady had what 5-6 bad games the last 2 years

And after every bucs loss we heard how brady was washed. Had a noodle arm. Took to many sacks when a jail break literally occurred
The defense was reason we were winning.

Yet the messiah cult trolls will live on even though a ton a games required brady to lead the bucs to victory.
Funny how moronic some fans are here. You know who you are?
    😂

    Nobody can take that away!!!

I didn’t know if I’d ever witness another Buc SB win in my lifetime…..but whoop….there it is!!!

    TBBF is one happy man….

JBF, it’s readers & supporters should pay to send a few of our tech-heads to LA’s over-priced, tax-payer stadium to hack their communications system & pump this video into the feed, moments after the end of that game, just like the great philosophers Cliff & Norm did with “poetry time” to their rival bar, on Cheers!.

  16. Mike C Says:

    Thank you Fortmyers Dave!

  17. Buczilla Says:

So much fun being a Bucs fan right now.

  18. Barbara Roopenian Says:

Thank you Tom Brady for 22 years of hope, dreams, and heart stopping reality. I will always be grateful
    Love Macy the Golden retriever

  19. '79Defense Says:

I gratefully accept the one last season, but hard not to think there should be another photo of Brady celebrating his second SB win with the Bucs this Sunday– if Wirfs and Godwin didn’t go down.
