Lavonte David Activated

January 15th, 2022

Off injured reserve list.

Well, this should take some of the sting out of the Playoff Lenny bad news.

This afternoon, the Bucs activated Lavonte David off the injured reserve list (foot) and he is scheduled to be on the Bucs’ sideline tomorrow for the team’s first playoff home game since January 2008.

The way the run defense has played so poorly of late, this is a critical move against the Eagles, provided David can play. So the Bucs will get three of their starting four linebackers back: Bucs sack king Shaq Barrett, Jason Pierre-Paul and David.

That should help the run game a great deal.

Joe also believes the Bucs will have David spy Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert most of the game. If David can keep Travis Kelce in check, which he did in the Super Bowl, then Joe believes Goedert will have his hands full with David.

Let’s cross our fingers that David can play most of the game near his standards, which are excellent.

To make room to bring back Giovani Bernard and David, the Bucs waived corner Rashard Robinson and wide receiver Justin Watson.

Let’s hope he’s not slowed down much by that foot.

  2. PassingThru Says:

Man, this might be the product of some gamesmanship by Arians. Everyone discounted LVD as he wasn’t ever seen while Fournette looked active during practice.

  3. Jordan Says:

I hope he’s more than 90% ready otherwise I’d rather play Minter personally – if JPP and Barrett are even somewhat themselves, David is less necessary

Bucs have shown that they are on the aggressive with injuries to be honest, so I wouldn’t assume LVD will be his normal self.

I’d much rather have Lavonte back then Lenny. The defense does not look even close to the same without Lavonte.

  5. Erick Says:

Wish Fournette was back too. Hope he didn’t tweak anything. David being back is huge though. The boys are going to be flying around tomorrow.

I think “Playoff Devin” makes an appearance, with his buddy back.

    Let’s effing Go!!!

Anonymous is right–way more important to have Lavonte, who also seems to have a calming effect on Devin, bringing out the more responsible version of him.

  7. Adrnagy Says:

David needs to stop celebrating with his foot.

  8. Tim in PSL Says:

Getting LVD back should free up Devin White to do some blitzing which is soooo important

  9. Bucfan Says:

    I will take a 80% LVD over a 100% Minter.

Awesome news! We force Hurts to beat us with his arm tomorrow and I see no way on Earth he outduels Brady…….Especially if all our GRAVEDIGGERS are playing.

    GO BUCS!!!

Having our defensive captain for the past 7 years gives confidence, not to mention his incredible talent. If he can manage even half the snaps is incredible

  12. Rod Munch Says:

WOW, that is huge, and unexpected. Everything I read was 2nd round of the playoffs at the earliest.

If everyone is actually healthy, or close to it, this will be the first time since the 1st quarter of the 1st game that the starting defense is on the field at the same time.

I think having gio Bernard is big because he can take the load on 3rd down. We need a check down more than we need an actual runner. Vaughn can handle 1st down with a sprinkle of Lev Bell on all three downs

  14. bucsince79 aka bumaneer Says:

Wonder why White wasn’t himself? It’s because there was no JPP LVD or Shaq!!!
He was trying to do to much!!! We now have our big guns on D back!!! LFG

  15. Rod Munch Says:

Carr is such a loser. LOL!

  16. Rod Munch Says:

What a moron, he clocks the ball on 1st down, wasted a down when he had plenty of time. What a complete idiot loser. No wonder so many dopes here like him.

  17. Mike Johnson Says:

IF David plays 80% of what he can play, we will be in great shape. He inspires White back there. We really do need him.

  18. JimmyJack Says:

With most of our trolls being Patroit fans it should be pretty easy for us to root for Buffalo…….And when they lose and become more vile you will know why.

Lavonte’s presence on the field for a few plays will do to the Bucs what Willis Reed did for the old NY Knicks against the Lakers back in game 7 of the NBA finals. He was barely on one leg but hit the first points of the game and then mostly sat on the bench. The fire he created in his teammates never went out.
